Ardi looked at Trisya.
"What do you want?"
"I told you! I'm hungry. Accompany me to eat! That's my only request but you're so stingy in fulfilling it."
Ardi sighed. He reached for the T-shirt that was on the back seat.
"Wear that!"
Trisya smiled.
"Wow.. This is still new, Sir."
Ardi didn't answer. Trisya immediately put the shirt on.
"Done."
Ardi started the car engine.
"What do you want to eat?"
"Just find a place to eat that's still open, Sir."
"If it wasn't my boss who asked me to take you, I would have left you on the road," Ardi grumbled. "You're so mischievous!"
Trisya laughed.
"You'll miss the moments with me later, Sir."
****
The morning after that...
Aisyah looked at Ardi who was sitting enjoying a plate of fried rice in front of her. She waited for the man to finish his meal until the last bite.
"Di.." Aisyah called.
"Yes."
"Actually.. There's something I want to talk to you about."
"About?" Ardi looked at Aisyah.
"But I'm hesitant. Do I have the right to question it?"
"What do you mean?"
"Until today, what is our status other than just being friends?"
"What did your mother say to you?" Ardi asked.
"Nothing. I'm not asking where our relationship is going either? I'm still comfortable just being a friend and a travel buddy for you. But there's one thing that makes me curious. My friend's story who saw you last week. She said she saw you eating with a woman at 3 AM. She showed me the picture. I was shocked because I knew the woman. She teaches at the same campus as me. But that's not what surprised me the most. She.. or I'll just say her name. Trisya, yes.. Trisya. She was wearing the T-shirt I bought you a week earlier."
"Oh. That."
"Isn't Trisya Robby's girlfriend? How could she be with you at an unreasonable hour and wearing that T-shirt."
"I apologize beforehand. I was forced to give her the T-shirt because that's all there was in the car. At that time Trisya was only wearing a thin and very minimal nightgown. It was impossible to let her get out like that. So I just gave her the T-shirt to cover her body."
"What happened?"
"That night.. There was a little problem. But it's very unethical for me to tell you."
Aisyah was about to speak when suddenly there was a commotion from the table not far from there. She turned her head, as did Ardi. They were shocked when they realized that the commotion was between Trisya and her mother, Ariana.
"Don't provoke my anger!" Ariana shouted.
Ariana grabbed the plate of fried kwietiau that the cafe waiter had just served and poured it over Trisya's head.
"What are you doing??" Trisya yelled.
"Let people know how dirty your mind is!" Ariana grabbed the orange juice again and poured it on Trisya.
The girl wiped her face.
"Why are you just silent? Usually you get angry?!"
Ardi hurried to Ariana followed by Aisyah.
"Ma'am, don't.." Ardi said. "Aisyah, take Mrs. Ariana out."
"Yes, come on, Ma'am.. " Aisyah pulled Ariana.
"Let me go!"
"Ma'am, if you do this, people will just see you as a troublemaker! What if someone goes viral?"
"I don't care!"
"You have to remember who you are."
Ariana fell silent.
Aisyah looked at Ardi.
"I'll take Mr. Ariana home, she probably needs to rest."
"Yes, be careful."
Aisyah immediately took Ariana's arm to leave with her amidst the whispers of the cafe customers.
Ardi approached Trisya.
"Trisya."
Trisya didn't answer, she just sat with her head down.
Ardi reached for a tissue, trying to clean Trisya's face.
"Let's go home.. " Ardi took off his jacket, covering Trisya's head and took her out.
"Isn't that woman a lecturer at Harapan Bunda University?" Ardi heard a woman whisper.
"If I'm not mistaken, I've seen her as a speaker at a seminar.."
"What's wrong with you?" Ardi asked.
Trisya didn't answer.
Ardi opened the car door for Trisya. The girl immediately got into the car.
"Trisya?" Ardi called.
The girl remained silent.
Ardi immediately got into the car, drove it away from there.
Trisya remained silent throughout the journey. She immediately got out of the car when Ardi parked it when they arrived at Trisya's house. The woman walked into her house.
"Trisya.." Ardi hurried to follow Trisya inside.
Trisya was no longer visible. Maybe she had already gone into her room.
Ardi's steps stopped to go out when suddenly he heard Trisya crying loudly.
"Trisya..!" Ardi knocked on Trisya's bedroom door.
"Trisya..! Open the door."
Trisya's cries were faintly heard weakening. But she didn't open the door. Ardi immediately kicked the door.
"Trisya.." Ardi entered.
Hearing the sound of crying coming from the bathroom, Ardi immediately pushed the door.
Trisya was seen sitting on the floor letting the water falling from the shower wet her head and body. Blood was flowing from her right arm.
"Trisya!" Ardi quickly turned off the shower and approached Trisya."
He grabbed the towel hanging in the bathroom. In a flash, Ardi wrapped Trisya's body and carried her out of the bathroom.
He put Trisya's body on the bed. He went out to look for the medicine cabinet. Unable to find it, Ardi hurried out of the house. He opened his car and grabbed the medicine cabinet then went back into the house. He walked towards Trisya who was sitting lost in thought looking at the bedroom floor.
Ardi sat next to Trisya, treating the wound on her wrist.
"Why are you so reckless to hurt yourself?" Ardi asked while bandaging Trisya's wrist.
"Just leave me alone, I.. " Trisya said while pulling her hand away from Ardi's grip.
"The wound needs to be treated first, okay?" Ardi said cautiously.
"I just want to disappear.. " Trisya sobbed. "I didn't do anything wrong, she never considered me human. What more if I did something wrong.. "
"Should I call your dad?"
"Don't. He'll accuse me of controlling Dad."
"Rest.. "
"I'm tired of being treated inhumanely by anyone."
"Don't be like that.."
"She called me a monster, isn't she
the real monster?"
"Trisya..."
Trisya looked at Ardi.
"Sir, can I ask you one thing?" Trisya asked.
"What is it?"
"Can you tell Dad to leave Mom?"
"What?"
"Don't get a divorce, but just leave her.. Let me and Dad live together in a new place."
Ardi didn't answer. He looked at his ringing phone.
"Yes.. Aisyah."
"Where are you?"
"Taking Trisya home. Are you still at Mrs. Ariana's place?"
"Yes."
"I'll pick you up there."
"Don't bother. I'll just take a taxi."
"Ok, be careful, okay?"
Ardi put away his phone.
"Are you okay now? I'm going home," Ardi said goodbye.
Trisya pulled Ardi's arm.
"Stay here."
"What?"
"Just stay here."
"It's impossible."
"Just pretend you're watching over me, Sir."
"I'll call Mr. Richard."
"Don't. That devil will make a fuss again."
"I'll call Robby."
"Why not you, Sir? You're the one who knows my mood right now."
Ardi looked away. Trisya looked at his body. She pulled the blanket to cover her body which was only covered in a towel.
"Sorry.."
"Rest. Lock the door later, okay?" Ardi said goodbye.
"Thank you, Sir."
Ardi hurried out. He sighed when he was already sitting in the car. He remembered when he found Trisya in the bathroom.
"Oh my god.. What was I thinking? How could I think about her body that I saw, even though I know she's in an unstable emotional state?"
