Enso has been conscious this whole time, ever since his soul began to glow and was nourished by chaos in this endless void. Yet, he could not move until his awakening came to completion.
Unlike the other awakened souls, Enso is just an ordinary man from Earth. The only thing that sets him apart is his will to live, fueled by the regret of dying young.
In his previous life, Enso trained in various martial arts on Earth and could be considered an extremely talented martial artist. Too bad he was diagnosed with advanced heart failure.
Enso was unwilling to accept his fate. He had a perfect family, many good friends, and had been in the corner of many talented fighters, assisting them in their careers.
He hated his weak body. He hated that he was unable to become anything more than a corner man in his martial arts career.
Sometimes, he wished he could find something like the 'Dragon Balls' from the anime he had watched, and make a wish for all his problems to disappear once and for all.
If anything, he wanted to live. He wanted to stand at the top of the martial path. His unwillingness to die was likely why Chaos chose him, changing his fate from being just a lightbulb to an awakened soul.
The moment he awakened in this endless void, Enso felt an intense hunger. Strangely, he could sense that he could devour all the other lightbulbs in this void.
It was a strange feeling, but Enso knew that he could do it. Who would have thought, before he could consume any soul, that the Tyrant Dragon would swallow him first?
In his mind, Enso cursed profusely, but he quickly realised that the Tyrant Dragon was being slowly absorbed into his body the moment their contact occurred.
During the process of devouring the Tyrant, Enso was able to witness the dragon's full memories. Surprisingly, it turned out that this Tyrant Dragon was only fully dead after Akame cut its soul with Muramasa. The next thing it knew was that it was sent to this accursed place.
From then on, it had always remained in an invisible state, hiding its existence from other awakened souls. Normally, it would have been detected by others if it still had its physical body, but in this soul form, it was practically invisible.
After swallowing the dragon, Enso felt as though he had gained all the dragon's core abilities, from skills to innate talents. This effectively transformed him into a new Tyrant, now in human form.
"Everyone, your time has come. Your suffering will end here. Any last words?" Enso asked the three onlookers.
The three onlookers smiled, looking at one another. It seemed they had guessed correctly. This newly awakened soul was surely the end of them all.
These three were already dead. Nanami and Heracles had already said their final words to their loved ones before departing.
Although Licht didn't get to do the same as the other two, he did find Tetia's soul in this endless void. Unfortunately, she had no consciousness left and had become just another lightbulb in this eternal darkness.
The three of them treated Enso as the god of death. They all closed their eyes and said, "You may begin."
Seeing this, Enso quickly opened his mouth and inhaled toward the souls. All the surrounding souls quickly swam toward him, one after another.
Enso devoured all the souls in this endless void in a mere moment. It seemed that the more souls he consumed, the more powerful his abilities at devouring souls became. His body soon grew as large as planet Earth.
In the process, he realised that another awakened soul was hidden in the vicinity. It didn't seem as powerful as the other awakened souls, and it was only a bit brighter than the unawakened souls.
This soul appeared to be Doctor from Akudama Drive, the one with godly medical skills, but ended up being trampled by the crowd in the series.
Among the awakened souls Enso had devoured, only Nanami, Tyrant, and Doctor's memories played out exactly as they had in their respective anime.
Licht and Heracles had extra memories that were never shown to anyone. Heracles' soul was sent here because he had broken free from the Throne of Heroes during the events of Fate/Strange Fake.
In the series, Bazdilot had forced him into corruption using Holy Grail Mud. During this process, Heracles' soul in the Throne of Heroes regained its consciousness. Using this opportunity, he broke free from the Throne of Heroes completely, and his soul was sent to this endless void.
Licht, on the other hand, had encountered spatial turbulence after his soul broke free from the reincarnation spell.
All the other elves had perished because their souls couldn't withstand the spatial turbulence. They ended up making a sacrifice by becoming dark elves and sending all their power to an elf named Ratri, hoping he could open a powerful spatial portal to escape with Licht.
Too bad, although Licht managed to be sent out, Ratri couldn't make it in time. With no other choice, Ratri too became a dark elf and transferred all the leftover elf power, along with his own, to Licht before closing the portal.
Ratri's last words seemed to be, "Fulfil your dream, find your loved ones." The dark elf power greatly increased Licht's mana reserves and gave him access to negative mana, as he too had once fallen and become a dark elf in his lifetime. However, now he could use it without falling, like his comrades.
From Licht's memories, Enso uncovered another secret. It turned out that the sword Asta used was a manifestation of his power. The Demon-Dweller Sword was the original manifestation of his sword magic before he became a dark elf: 'Mana Connection,' which could store and connect all mana for his use. Licht had sealed this ability into his sword, effectively making it a physical artefact spell unique to sword magic.
Demon-Destroyer, too, was a manifestation of his dark elf power, 'Casualties Break.' Before transforming into a demon, he had transferred this power into a physical sword, hoping that his friends and comrades could use it to combat the high-ranking devils.
With the negative mana from his comrades, Licht regained 'Casualties Break' once again.
Enso stared at the empty void. He had now become the only source of light in this dark plane.
His soul had become extremely powerful after absorbing close to a billion souls. He now knew for certain that there must be more than one such empty void.
Because the Earth's population alone is at least 7 billion, this void could only house at most a billion souls.
From the memories of all the awakened souls, Enso knew that a spatial portal would open periodically, dropping in more lightbulbs.
Heracles had tried to break through once but soon realised that his soul couldn't withstand the crossover. Withstanding spatial turbulence was one thing, but when one tried to step out, a powerful black-and-white lightning strike hit his soul, pushing him back into the void.
Heracles had withstood the white lightning due to his powerful life force, but when hit by the black lightning, he felt like he was on the verge of disappearing.
It seemed that entering this endless void was easy, but trying to leave was nearly impossible.
Tyrant had seen all of this when Heracles attempted to cross the spatial portal.
From Tyrant's memories, Enso discovered that the dragon had once attempted to devour unconscious souls in a desperate effort to strengthen its own. Its goal had been to challenge the spatial portal that held it prisoner. Unfortunately, the attempt was doomed from the start—Tyrant Dragon lacked the capacity to assimilate other souls into a singular entity. The spirits it consumed merely became unusable clusters of stagnant energy.
Worse still, it had picked the wrong target.
Enso had been meditating in silence at the time, calmly sorting through the spoils he'd reaped from devouring awakened souls.
Those conscious souls, unlike the inert ones Tyrant had consumed, had given Enso much more—memories, knowledge, and even the core abilities that defined them.
From Nanami Yasuri, he inherited Migeiko, a technique that allowed her to copy any movement, skill, or power she witnessed. See it once, and she could replicate it. See it twice, and it was as if she had mastered it from birth.
From Heracles, Enso gained a raw, overflowing vitality. Even in soul form, every fiber of his being pulsed with power. His very presence radiated strength. He also inherited Heracles' battle instincts and the memory of Nine Lives, a legendary combat technique born from relentless war.
The Doctor from Akudama Drive was perhaps the most unsettling. Her combat ability was nearly nonexistent, but her modern medical knowledge was so advanced, she could save someone even if they were split in two. Enso was disturbed to discover how deeply insane she truly was—performing surgery on herself without anesthetic, relishing the pain. Pain gave her a sense of euphoria, pushing her pain tolerance far beyond that of Nanami Yasuri, and even Heracles' berserk state paled in comparison to her euphoric endurance.
Then there was Licht, from Black Clover, who gave Enso an innate sword ability rivaling even Migeiko. Though never explicitly stated in the anime, Enso sensed the truth—Sword Origin. It was the foundation of Licht's sword magic: an unparalleled talent in swordsmanship so powerful it mutated his magic, turning it into something greater than any traditional element.
But the greatest surprise came from the Tyrant Dragon of Akame Ga Kill. While its body was unsuitable for human combat, its soul held precious gifts. From it, Enso acquired Superior Adaptation and Invisibility, as well as deep, harrowing memories from the time it was sealed within Incursio.
Yet more important than any of these powers was the growing understanding of his true nature as a Soul Devourer.
He was not just someone who consumed. He was a nemesis to all soul-based powers.
And from this, he awakened a new ability—Life Reading, granting him Total Recall. Every memory, every soul fragment—perfectly preserved.
With this, he could recall both his memories and the memories of the awakened souls he had absorbed. However, it only worked on souls with intact consciousness, like the awakened souls, while the lightbulbs only provided him with soul energy.
With all this power, Enso might be able to withstand the backlash from breaking out of this endless void. His wish for another life no longer seemed so impossible.
Time passed, and Enso didn't bother exploring the space, as he had looked through the memories of the awakened souls and discovered that this place was nothing but darkness. Not to mention, all the unconscious souls had already been absorbed.
Among the billions of souls Enso had devoured, only five retained their consciousness. They were not just echoes or fragments—they were whole, intact, and aware, each burning with the last embers of their will.
Their thoughts no longer clashed, nor did their memories remain isolated. Instead, they flowed into Enso like rivers converging into a single ocean, vast and deep. Each of them carried their own flaws—quirks, limitations, fractured traits born from the lives they lived and the deaths they met. But Enso suspected that it was precisely because Tyrant had been the first soul he devoured that those imperfections failed to linger.
Tyrant's innate ability, Superior Adaptation, had silently embedded itself at the heart of Enso's soul. Like an unseen force working in the background, it refined and reshaped everything that followed. Every soul absorbed afterward wasn't simply added to him—it was broken down, filtered, rebuilt, and evolved.
Flaws were stripped away. Contradictions were harmonized. What remained was the essence—abilities distilled to their highest potential, instincts honed to something beyond their original form.
Thanks to Tyrant—and the very nature of being a Soul Devourer—Enso was no longer just a vessel of many.
He was their perfected culmination.
Among all the souls here, the one with the most valuable memories was probably Heracles. It turned out that he was one of the souls that retained memories from the Holy Grail Wars. It was so exciting—it felt like Enso was witnessing the Fate series as a participant.
The reason Heracles decided to break free from the Throne of Heroes is that He hated the idea of Heroic Spirits being used as pawns in human wish-granting games. Without him, the Holy Grail would still have been able to summon a clone of him—his existence was unnecessary. If anything, he would just gain some memories of the clone after the Holy Grail War.
That being said, Heracles did have some of the most valuable memories. In his original lifetime, he had met a 10-year-old Achilles, who had just finished his studies under Chiron.
During their encounter, Achilles challenged him to a race, and Heracles was defeated by Achilles' 'Comet Form.' This made Achilles the fastest being in human history.
In the Fourth Holy Grail War, Heracles and Illya had also witnessed Kojiro Sasaki utilizing Tsubame Gaeshi against Saber. An absolute sword technique that transcended space and time. As Berserker, Heracles had clashed against Kojiro once and was pushed back due to the terrain advantage.
With modern combat knowledge and Heracles' ancient techniques, Enso's path as a martial artist looked incredibly bright.
