Ep12: The City Girl’s Got Teeth

Episode 12: "The City Girl's Got Teeth"

Amara didn't mean to find the map.

She'd gone into the records room looking for quiet a place. The dusty air and old wood reminded her of a museum—cold, organized, and slightly haunted.

She sat at the desk, flipping through a book of wolf hierarchies like it might explain why everyone in this town wanted her gone.

Then something slipped out from between the pages.

A folded paper. Hand-drawn. Marked in sharp ink.

She opened it slowly.

It was a map of the town.

But not just the usual roads and borders.

It had symbols—claw marks, crescent moons, hidden paths.

Before she could process what she was looking at, the door opened.

Theo.

He froze when he saw her holding the paper.

What are you doing in here? he asked, voice low.

Amara stood up, shoving the map behind her.

Looking for something, she said, carefully. Seems like I found it.

Theo took a step closer. That's not for you.

You mean the map? The one someone left in a book sitting on a public shelf? She met his eyes. That's a weird place to hide something top secret.

He didn't say anything , but she saw his jaw clench.

I'll take that.

No, she said.

And to her own surprise, she didn't stutter.

I didn't steal it. I found it. I'll ask Lucian about it—unless you'd rather he hear it from me?

Theo stared at her for a long second.

Then turned and left.

She sat back down once he was gone, her hands shaking. She didn't know what the map signifies but she saw the fear in his eyes as she held it.

Her heart pounded.

But this time, it wasn't fear.

It was adrenaline. Fire. That spark of power she'd almost forgotten she had.

From the hallway, Lucian watched her through the half-open door.

She hadn't seen him.

But he'd seen everything.

And for the first time since she'd arrived…

He didn't see a girl lost in his world .

He saw a flame.

One he couldn't stop watching.
