Chapter 4

"What's the matter? Jason is a finance whiz, he definitely knows more than you do. He can help the company develop better."

"This position was Jason's to begin with. Now that he's back, you should step aside."

Melody's words really got under my skin. She can mock me all she wants, I don't care, but she can't just mess with my position on a whim.

I stared at her coldly, my words dripping with icy disdain and disgust.

"By that logic, shouldn't your husband's position be up for grabs too? If you want him to be vice president, fine - let's get divorced."

Melody's chest heaved violently. She looked pretty pissed off, though I couldn't fathom why she had any right to be angry.

"You really think I wouldn't dare to divorce you? If my dad hadn't forced me, I never would have agreed to you marrying into our family!"

"The sight of you makes me sick. You're not even worth one strand of Jason's hair!"

In front of everyone, Jason brazenly took Melody's hand.

"I'm not afraid to tell you - Melody and I have been together for a while now. If you had any dignity, you'd stop clinging to her!"

Looking at this pair of jerks in front of me, my anger turned to laughter.

"Fine, then let's divorce. However—"

"However what? Spit it out already!"Jason's face was filled with urgency, terrified I might change my mind again.

"But I'm not gonna wear these horns for free. Melody's basically committed adultery during our marriage, so I won't let her walk away empty-handed. I'll take 20% of her shares and call it even."

"You can forget about the shares!" Melody's eyes blazed with fury as she looked at me.

I chuckled nonchalantly, "Then let's not divorce. I don't care either way, as long as you're not afraid of public humiliation."

Seeing Melody waver, Jason panicked and quickly tried to persuade her, "That stock he bought is definitely going to tank tomorrow. Once he loses all his money, he'll have to sell the shares anyway. I say we agree for now. I want to be with you openly and honestly."

After hesitating for three seconds, Melody nodded, then shot me a vicious glare.

"Fine, you can have them. I can't wait to see you begging me to buy them back tomorrow!"

Afraid I might back out, Jason immediately ordered someone to draft up the contract as soon as Melody agreed. It didn't take long for the divorce papers to arrive.

After reviewing the contents, I made a grand gesture and signed with a flourish.

Jason nodded with satisfaction at the contract, then took Melody's hand, ready to leave.

"Wait!"Lee, are you done yet? From now on, there's no connection between us whatsoever!"

Melody glared at me, visibly annoyed.

As if I cared about having any relationship with her, I sneered inwardly.

"I don't care how many stocks you want to buy for him with your own money, but you can't use the company's funds. I'm a shareholder now too, and you're losing my money as well."

Melody was so furious with me she was grinding her teeth, but she still instructed her assistant to use her personal funds to replace the $100 million that had been transferred out of the company.

This put my mind at ease. After all, the company was mine now, and I absolutely couldn't allow it to incur any losses.
