Fury.
That's all Kai felt as he witnessed the radiant pale lighting fall upon Loni. He was furious with the lightning because how could something he controlled ever have the power to harm his companions.
The world around him seemed to freeze suddenly, just before the lighting was able to eviscerate the young girl. In that moment Kai thought to himself, was he not the master of lightning? Yes, he was just a dormant mutated, but lightning was still his domain. Was it not to listen to his every call, and no one else's?
Indeed it was.
'So why? Why is my very element, the thing I'm supposed to have absolute control over, about to kill the girl I just met?'
It was not orderly… it was not right.
But how was he, a dormant being, able to defy the intent of a creature he could not even fathom yet? The answer was simple really. It had been in front of his face this entire time too. Will, only through will could he defy the odds… defy everything.
So, in the millisecond just before the lightning struck Loni's mocha skin, Kai willed the lightning to yield. And it did… for a moment. Luckily that was all the time Loni needed to to throw herself out of the bolts destructive path.
Yet, she wasn't fast enough because looking down black, silky strands of hair were falling softly in the air. Loni's hair had been singed off at just below shoulder length. She didn't take that much pride in her long, natural hair, but it was still saddening to see something that had built itself up over many years be so easily destroyed.
'Mm.'
Looking at the fallen strings with a somber look, Loni turned her gaze towards a familiar figure standing in the distance with violet lightning dancing all around his frame. Since Kai had been preserving his affinity, this was the first time she was witnessing it. And how terrifying it was.
Loni had thought that when her hairs had begun to stand on end, it was the lightning coming to seek her again. That was until she realized it was this… boy floating in front of her with furious might gleaning in his lavender eyes.
'Is this really the same aloof boy I met hours ago?'
As she thought this, Karma looked on with glee.
"Heh, not bad little bro."
That's when Loni realized she hadn't really gotten to know her new companions since meeting them. She was so focused on her own reasons for being in this position, and leaving this place that she had forgotten to be human.
It was a sad thing to realize that her father almost molded her into something resembling him, someone that didn't care for other people's feelings or thoughts. Was she truly turning into him?
'No, that man's soul has withered away. There was no way to save him but… she could still be saved.'
Just then Loni knew what she was gonna do with herself. She knew just how this unexpected journey of hers would end, and who she would share it with.
With that the thunder booming all around the 3 mutated exceeded its flamboyant cacophony of sounds, and raged even louder. The hail that was once the size of a basketball, turned into icy boulders. It was as if Kai's little stunt awakened a terrifying and ruthless monster coming to swallow them all up.
The Thunder was so bad Karma's ears began to ring, and looking off into the distance he noticed Loni was beginning to bleed from hers.
"Argahh"
The pain was exquisite.
Yet within the violent rain of debris Kai floated unbothered. It wasn't that the deafening claps of thunder weren't bothering him because Karma could see blood streaming down the side of his face as well. It was just that… Kai simply didn't care.
With his affinity activated, and his flashy arcs of electricity jumping up and down his skin, Kai felt indifferent to everything.
'I could only stop it for a split second…'
His violet eyes seem to be elsewhere.
Little did Karma know, at the moment Kai was trying to sense the electrical current of the lighting.
He knew that the lightning would come again, and when it did it would be truly unforgiving. So using his power, Kai peered into the electrical current.
Soon they started to reveal themselves.
'There!'
As a violent flash of light spread throughout the funnel, the world was painted in a blinding radiance mixed with white and purple hues. And as the light dimmed, it revealed a truly magnificent sight.
There, on one end of the flashing lighting Kai stood with both arms facing outward. Lighting was coiled around both his limbs and was being spewed out in an erratic configuration. Kai's affinity was challenging the might of the crazed lighting. As the two whips of blazing plasma collided, the air around it shuddered.
Yes, it was quite the spectacle. Although, Kai was barely hanging on, afterall he was only a dormant mutated. So it didn't take long for the seething titan's lighting to start pushing Kai's own back. Drops of sweat were rolling down his face as he struggled to make the lightning yield.
'Dammit, my affinity is already almost exhausted.'
Though Kai put up a fight, he couldn't hope to actually keep against whatever this monster was. Eventually the merciless white lightning would consume him, turning him into nothing but a pile of ash traveling in the wind. Kai knew this of course that was why he was going to put everything he had into his final attack.
But first he had to let go.
He had to let go of his ego, and he had to let go of his pride. Those were dangerous sins anyways so Kai would rather not have them clinging to him. So shedding all his selfish human emotions Kai let the furious arcs of white lightning consume him…
And oh how agonizingly painful it was.
