CHAPTER EIGHTY-THREE

Damon's POV

 She'd lied.

When I asked her who Mia was, she said it was her mom's name.

Liar.

Every part of me yearned to tell her I knew she was lying, and to see the look on her face when she realized I knew she wasn't telling me the truth.

But I couldn't.

The look in her eyes stopped me. I saw how much it killed her to use her dead mom to tell a fib. The regret filled her eyes as soon as she said it.

So, I waited.

Curious to see how she was going to spin the tale. If she had to go through such lengths to tell her lie, then it was more serious than I thought.

Was she scared of how I'd react if I found out she was Alan's spy?

"But why did Tara call you your mom's name?" I paused, searching those eyes.

Come on, admit it.
