Gu Fenyi lost interest and didn't watch the colorful character anymore. She stood up and walked toward the dining room. The servants had already prepared lunch. Gu Fenyi looked around, noticing they had included vegetable salads and fresh fruits alongside the main course.
This pleased Gu Fenyi greatly.
"Science and technology," as people called it, allowed people of this era to enjoy fresh and varied fruits.
Gu Fenyi particularly liked this aspect of modern life.
Ye Wenbo watched as Gu Fenyi finished breakfast, ate lunch, read half a book, and watched a TV show. She didn't seem concerned about Jiang Er's visit at all.
"This tastes delicious," Gu Fenyi suddenly raised her head and pointed to the plate of strawberries in front of her.
The maid quickly asked, "Should I wash another plate for the madam?"
"Yes," Gu Fenyi nodded.
At that moment, Jiang Er arrived at the door.
Jiang Er's real name was Jiang Yue. He ranked second in the Jiang family. As a child, people called him "Jiang Er" to tease him. Now, this nickname had become a symbol that commanded respect.
He entered with his secretary but left his bodyguards outside.
"Mrs. Ye," Jiang Yue said politely as he entered, looking at the woman sitting on the sofa.
Ye Wenbo sat beside her.
Ye Wenbo, usually wild and unruly, sat upright now, appearing almost... well-behaved?
The young woman in the white dress looked graceful, holding a book with one hand while the other paused in midair. Looking closely, one could see water droplets on her fingertips.
The maid brought a plate of strawberries and respectfully placed it before Gu Fenyi.
Jiang Yue glanced at the strawberries, then at Gu Fenyi's face.
Her eyebrows resembled distant mountains, her eyes like cold stars. Her features, drawn with light ink strokes, embodied classical Chinese beauty. Combined with her indifferent expression, they created a unique, sharp beauty.
"Was Ye Wen's wife always this pretty?" he wondered.
"Mr. Jiang," she greeted him coolly.
Jiang Yue noticed her lips had a hint of strawberry juice, making them look red, crystal clear, and soft.
But her face remained cold.
Jiang Yue unconsciously clenched his fingers, then stepped forward with a smile. "Is Mrs. Ye enjoying afternoon tea?"
After speaking, Jiang Yue remembered he hadn't intended to smile at Gu Fenyi when he arrived.
"Yes," Gu Fenyi answered. "Unfortunately, we didn't prepare any for Mr. Jiang."
She bent forward to reach for a tissue on the table.
The movement elongated her figure, creating a beautiful arc from her neck to her back. Her black hair slipped to one side, revealing her pale neck.
Jiang Yue instinctively moved to get the tissue for her.
But Ye Wenbo reacted faster, being closer to Gu Fenyi. Before Jiang Yue could act, Ye Wenbo had already handed the tissue to Gu Fenyi.
She took it and smoothly wiped the moisture from her fingertips.
Jiang Yue suddenly realized Gu Fenyi didn't fear him.
Not only did she show no fear, but she seemed relaxed—even eating strawberries without preparing for his visit.
