Chapter 31: The Calm Before the Storm

Hours passed, but Gu Fenyi didn’t budge.

Instead, it was Su Ting—Ye Wen’s secretary—who arrived first.

Gu Min recognized him instantly. Years ago, he'd watched Su Ting demolish a powerful industry leader with a smile. Just seeing his face through the car window made Gu Min shrink in his seat.

“Mr. Su,” he greeted nervously.

But his thoughts raced. If Su Ting was here, Fu Ming couldn’t be far behind.

Trying to appear casual, he said, “I’m not sure what happened. Maybe Fenyi isn’t up yet. The servants aren’t very attentive, they haven’t let us in…”

“I’ll go check,” Su Ting replied with a polite smile.

Before Gu Min could stop him, the gates opened and Su’s car slipped inside.

Panicked, Gu Min tried to follow—but the gate closed in his face.

He cursed under his breath. “They’re all against me…”

Inside, the maid informed Su Ting, “Madam is on the second floor, reading.”
