Chapter 37: Dinner

“Does Mrs. Ye have any questions?” Jian Ming suddenly asked.

Gu Fenyi snapped out of her thoughts and met his gaze. “No.”

“Not even about the president’s condition?”

She shook her head again.

Su Ting noticed the shift. Cold, he thought. She’s really acting indifferent.

Even Fu Ming felt something stir—confusion, maybe even guilt. This woman had once clung to Ye Wen with the desperation of a lovesick fan. Now, it felt like she’d stepped away completely.

Su Ting stood. “I’ll escort my wife out.”

Gu Fenyi nodded and rose as well.

At the door, she paused and turned her head slightly. “I believe he’ll come back alive,” she said softly.

It was only a few words, but the weight they carried filled the room.

More than tears. More than screams.

It made both men pause.

As they stepped into the hallway, Gu Fenyi stopped a secretary nearby and borrowed her notepad and pen.

She wrote quickly against the wall, then turned and handed the note to Su Ting.
