Gu Fenyi stepped out of the elevator. Su Ting approached her quickly, as if drawn in without realizing it.

“All settled?” he asked.

“Yes,” she replied. “I need a favor, Secretary Su. If Ye Wenshu books any foreign flight in the next three months—cancel it.”

Su Ting arched a brow. “House arrest?”

“Think of it as staying close to home.”

He sighed, then smiled. “Of course.”

She nodded graciously and moved back into the hall, drawing the attention of wealthy guests like a magnet. Wine glass in hand, her posture perfect, she smiled warmly as several ladies gathered around.

“Mrs. Ye, your gown is exquisite.”

“So elegant, so poised…”

Compliments flowed freely, but Gu Fenyi’s mind wandered elsewhere.
