Chapter 106: Always Imitated, Never Surpassed!

At this moment, Shōda Kazuo was unaware of Nakajima Misaki's predicament. He had summoned all personnel to the fourth floor, desperately searching for Kaitō Kid.

They searched the fourth floor over and over, even checking the bathrooms, yet they couldn't find a trace of Kaitō Kid.

Not only was Shōda Kazuo scratching his head, but even the viewers in the live stream were left confused.

[What the hell? Where did Kaitō Kid go? Why can't they find him all of a sudden?]

[Baka yarō, that sly Kaitō Kid must be hiding in some corner!]

[Hmph, does he dare to show up? As soon as Shōda Kazuo and the others spot him, they'll turn him into a porcupine!]

[Yo, you're typing fast, but all you're doing is running your mouth!]

[Mysterious confidence, you think Kaitō Kid will be hit by your lousy gunfire?]

Shōda Kazuo ordered the restoration of the building's power supply. Without lights, the search would be severely hindered.

Meanwhile, Zhang Yang was sitting in the ventilation duct, ready to make his move.

"Let's see who's faster!"

With those words, Zhang Yang jumped out of the ventilation duct, and the next second, the laser security alarm was triggered.

Outside, as Shōda Kazuo was coordinating the search, he immediately froze. He knew exactly what the alarm meant!

"Baka yarō, he's in the conference room!"

"Everyone, head to the conference room!"

Immediately, everyone rushed toward the conference room.

[Oh my god! Did Kaitō Kid already get his hands on the true manuscript of Lantingxu?]

[Hahaha, these idiots wouldn't even check the conference room where the true manuscript of Lantingxu was kept!]

[What? Wasn't the door to the conference room always guarded? How did Kaitō Kid get in?!]

[This is like a sparrow pecking a cow's ass—it's truly impressive. How did Kaitō Kid trigger the alarm?]

[There's no such thing as absolute security. Shōda Kazuo and his team must have overlooked something!]

While the live stream chat was buzzing with discussions, Zhang Yang had already gotten his hands on the true manuscript of Lantingxu. He left behind a smoke bomb and a dummy in the conference room.

Shōda Kazuo pulled out a security card, rotated the mechanical lock, and as soon as the conference room door opened, a thick cloud of smoke engulfed him and his team.

In the smoke-filled room, a figure was faintly visible.

Without hesitation, Shōda Kazuo drew his gun and pulled the trigger.

He fired multiple rounds in quick succession. When the others saw the figure in the smoke, they reacted the same way. Soon, gunfire erupted throughout the fourth floor.

[Oh my god, this is too intense!]

[This is just the magazine's limit, not their limit!]

[Is there anyone in the smoke? They're just firing non-stop!]

[Oh my god! These guys are crazy!]

[They don't even care about human life, this is pure brutality!]

After a flurry of gunfire, the dummy had already deflated and collapsed.

Shōda Kazuo quickly moved into the smoke. When he saw the collapsed dummy on the floor, he was filled with helplessness.

On the conference room's central table, the vault had been opened, and the true manuscript of Lantingxu had disappeared.

"Baka yarō!"

"Lock down the whole building! We can't let Kaitō Kid escape!"

At Shōda Kazuo's furious shout, everyone immediately sprang into action.

[What the hell? There aren't even any windows in the conference room, and it was stolen just like that?]

[Shōda Kazuo and the others never planned on leaving any survivors. Nakajima Misaki has brought people with him. This is the trap the Island Nation set for Kaitō Kid!]

[The Emperor of the Island Nation must be furious now. Not only did they fail to capture Kaitō Kid, but the true manuscript of Lantingxu was also stolen!]

[Shit! If it wasn't a dummy in the conference room and it was really Kaitō Kid, I can't imagine how badly he would've been riddled with bullets!]

As Shōda Kazuo and his team stormed into the conference room and started firing wildly, Zhang Yang emerged from the ventilation duct in the hallway.

At this point, Zhang Yang had already reached the fifth floor and was preparing to open a window and make his escape.

During this mission, Zhang Yang had encountered Nakajima Misaki, but even though Nakajima Misaki had shown up, Itō Chūji had not!

Currently, Itō Tōji was still recovering in a hospital in Eagle Nation, and Zhang Yang believed that Itō Chūji wouldn't let things slide.

The Itō clan's ninjas hadn't come; they were likely lying in wait somewhere, just not showing themselves.

Based on his previous encounters with ninjas, Zhang Yang suspected they might be lying in wait on the rooftop.

Originally, Zhang Yang's plan was to make his escape from the rooftop.

"The Island Nation is truly laughable!"

Standing by the window, Zhang Yang saw the crowd gathered below and couldn't help but shake his head and scoff.

Then, Zhang Yang climbed out the window, and the crowd below gasped in surprise.

[Is that Kaitō Kid? Is he leaving already?]

[What is the Yamaguchi-gumi doing? They shot so many times earlier—were they shooting at air?]

[Baka, did Kaitō Kid already get away with it?]

Kaitō Kid never leaves empty-handed. As long as he shows up, he's sure to take something with him.

This fact was well known across the world!

The crowd below hadn't expected it to be so quick, and they could clearly hear the gunshots from inside the building just moments ago.

Half of the people thought Kaitō Kid must've been shot dead by the gunfire, which was why they were so shocked.

Meanwhile, Itō Chūji, who was stationed on the rooftop, heard the noise from below and immediately sensed something was off.

"Nani?"

He rushed over to the edge, looked down, and, with the crowd's gaze, spotted the figure of Kaitō Kid already having climbed out of the window.

"Baka yarō!"

Zhang Yang glanced up, saw Itō Chūji, and waved at him with a raised hand.

Then, Zhang Yang's Silver-Winged Cape expanded behind him, and he leaped down.

The people around screamed in fear, covering their eyes. The white figure didn't fall but instead swiftly soared above them.

And, just like when he had come, he scattered red flower petals all around them.

Itō Chūji, on the rooftop, snorted coldly. He grabbed a rope from his waist, pulled it tightly, and a black triangular glider unfolded behind him.

This was a special design he had prepared.

But as he reached the edge, he still felt a surge of tension.

Watching Kaitō Kid's figure rapidly moving away, he couldn't afford to hesitate any longer. He gritted his teeth and jumped after him.

The crowd below gasped again.

However, Itō Chūji's gliding trajectory and descent speed were clearly aimed at the ground.

The people around scattered, none daring to intercept the descending black figure.

Itō Chūji crashed to the ground hard, rolling several meters like a ball, until he collided violently with a roadpost, finally stopping.

If Itō Chūji hadn't reacted quickly, turning his back just before landing, he would have been fatally killed on the spot.

Even for a trained ninja, a fall from the sixth floor would have been lethal, likely resulting in a crushed skull.

Itō Chūji lay on the ground, half-dead, spitting up black blood.

"Baka… Baka, this thing is completely useless!"

Itō Chūji's glider had never been tested.

It was only a replica, designed to resemble the Silver-Winged Cape.
