Senju Yukika had no idea what kind of history lay between this father and son. But even though they were close blood relatives, to see them at such bitter odds was uncomfortable to witness.
Regardless, his stance was firmly on Yukika's side.
The so-called "honorable" father showed no hint of compassion—treating his own son like a weed by the roadside, utterly beneath his notice.
At that moment, the emotions bottled up in Yukika exploded. He howled, nearly hysterical, "Give me back my mother! I'm taking her away from this cursed place!"
But his father merely sneered, cold and unforgiving. "You ungrateful brat. How dare you speak to me that way? Guards! Take him down and throw him into the black chamber!"
The "black chamber" was a hidden torture room in the depths of this estate, a place used to punish traitors within the family.
No one would've expected a father—of all people—to treat his own son like a criminal.
Watching the entire scene unfold, Senju Yukika couldn't help but let out a soft sigh.
By this point, none of the household paid the mysterious young man any mind. Following the patriarch's command, armed guards rushed in, wielding clubs, ready to seize Yukika.
Senju didn't intervene immediately. He was curious to see how much martial training Yukika had, if any.
Yukika managed to resist at first. He could block a few attacks, throw a few punches—but he was still young and not very strong. It didn't take long before he was overwhelmed and pinned down, completely outmatched by the family's trained guards.
And then, suddenly—
A violent gust of wind swept through the courtyard.
It was so powerful that everyone staggered back. Dust and debris flew through the air, making it nearly impossible to see clearly.
Even Yukika's father was caught off guard. As a mid-level martial artist, he was still unable to steady himself. He stumbled and nearly fell, clutching a nearby pillar to avoid collapsing.
His expression twisted in alarm. Eyes darting wildly, he shouted, "Who's doing this?!"
Senju Yukika finally stepped forward from the shadows, sighing quietly. "Your son just wants to take his mother away. Since your relationship is already broken, why not grant him this one final wish?"
The middle-aged man turned to look at Senju, studying him carefully. "Was that you just now?"
Senju didn't answer directly. But the look on his face made it obvious. The wind had been his doing.
The man felt a chill down his spine. Such a terrifying force, summoned with nothing more than a flick of the hand—he couldn't even defend against it. The sheer power this stranger held was unimaginable.
His pupils narrowed. His mind raced with possibilities, calculating.
Yukika, still catching his breath, suddenly burst out laughing, eyes brimming with tears. "Ha! Now that my master is here, let's see what you all can do to me!"
Without hesitation, he shoved open the side door of the main building and dashed toward the western wing of the compound.
Senju followed calmly behind him. The rest of the household staff froze in place, too frightened to move.
They all knew now—this young man was not to be trifled with. If he wanted them dead, it would only take a gesture.
Seeing the terrified expression on the patriarch's face, the guards realized the truth. This was not a man they could afford to offend.
"Master, what should we do now?" one of the stewards asked, voice trembling.
The middle-aged man's face was grim. He waved a hand. "Go summon Shangguan Keqing."
At the mention of that name, the steward's eyes lit up. He nodded quickly and sprinted off.
In the dim courtyard to the west, Yukika flung open a door and entered a small, run-down house.
Everything inside was old and covered in dust. Cobwebs filled the corners. The furniture hadn't been cleaned in ages.
On a worn wooden bed lay a middle-aged woman. Her body was frail. She coughed weakly, barely clinging to consciousness.
The moment Yukika saw her, he couldn't hold back his tears. "Mom! It's me—your son's here!"
The woman's eyes flew open at the sound of his voice. She struggled to sit up, propping herself against the headboard.
Despite her obvious illness, her face lit up the moment she saw him. The pain disappeared, replaced by overwhelming relief.
"Child… you finally came. I thought I would never see you again…"
The reunion between mother and son was heart-wrenching.
Senju Yukika stood silently at the door, watching in solemn silence.
Yukika sat beside his mother, talking for a long time. The room was filled with sorrow. It was clear she didn't have much time left.
He understood—her illness was far too advanced. No doctor could save her now. It was only a matter of time.
Then, the woman slowly began to confess some long-buried truths.
She admitted that she was dying, and her final wish was for Yukika to live well—urging him not to seek revenge on her behalf.
Tears streamed down his face as he whispered, "Mom, I have to avenge you. I will."
But she shook her head firmly. Gently stroking his face, she said in a low, broken voice, "You don't understand… that woman, and the power behind her—they're far too strong. You're not their match. Listen to me: leave Stone Town, now, before it's too late."
Yukika sobbed, shaking his head in denial. Neither spoke another word—they just clung to each other tightly in silence.
Time passed.
Gradually, the room fell silent. The woman's body grew cold…
Yukika suddenly jolted, as if struck by lightning. His eyes widened in disbelief, blood and tears mingling as he cried out in agony.
"MOTHER!!"
His scream echoed through the house.
Outside the room, Senju Yukika lowered his head and sighed once more.
The bitterness of the human world was laid bare in front of him. The tree longs to be still, but the wind won't stop; the child wishes to care for the parent, but the parent is already gone. Another tragedy, replaying itself before his eyes.
But just then—
At the gate of the house, a tall, lean man appeared.
He held a long sword in his hand. His eyes were icy and filled with killing intent as he slowly stepped inside.
The patriarch bowed respectfully at the sight of him. "My lord… you're here."
The man named Shangguan nodded slightly. "Where is he?"
