Chapter 6: The Adventurer's Guild

At the age of eight, Alaric was already restless. His parents often said he had the curiosity of a scholar and the determination of a warrior. The small village of Firwood, with its simple routines, couldn't contain his ambitions. So when he heard about the Adventurer's Guild in the nearby town of Galdurn, he decided it was time to take a step toward his dreams.

The guild hall was a large, bustling building filled with people of all shapes and sizes. Warriors with scarred faces, robed magicians, and nimble rogues sat around tables, chatting or planning their next quests. Alaric pushed the heavy wooden door open and stepped inside.

A woman behind a tall counter noticed him. She had sharp green eyes and wore a polished breastplate that gleamed under the light.

"Well, aren't you a bit young to be here?" she said with a smirk.

"I'm here to register," Alaric said firmly.

The woman raised an eyebrow but didn't argue. "Alright, kid. Follow me. But let me warn you, being an adventurer isn't a game. You'll start at the bottom and work your way up—if you survive."

She led him to a smaller room lined with charts and maps. On the wall hung a detailed board listing ranks and classifications.

"Here's how it works," she began, pointing to the board. "Adventurers are ranked from F to SSS. F is where everyone starts. It's for beginners and novices. SSS is a rank so high that only one person has ever reached it: King Arthur, the legendary hero who defeated the Dragon King Apollon."

Alaric's eyes widened. He'd heard the tales of King Arthur—the man who had sealed the ancient dragon with his unparalleled strength and wisdom.

"And monsters?" he asked.

The woman pointed to another chart. "Monsters are ranked from G to SSS. The weakest, rank G, are creatures like slimes. They're harmless and good practice for beginners. Rank F monsters include goblins. As the ranks increase, so do the danger and rewards. Rank D includes orcs, rank C has trolls, rank B features arachnes, and rank A includes Fenrirs, those terrifying wolf beasts."

She hesitated for a moment, her tone growing serious. "Then there are Ancient Fenrirs, classified as SS. Few have ever encountered one and lived to tell the tale. Dragons are rank SSS, the ultimate challenge. But even among them, there are Ancient Dragons, creatures whose power is beyond comprehension. Only the most legendary adventurers dare to face them."

Alaric felt a mixture of awe and excitement. The world of adventuring was far bigger and more dangerous than he'd imagined, but it was also filled with possibilities.

The woman handed him a small badge. "Welcome to the Adventurer's Guild, Alaric. You're officially a rank F adventurer. Start small, stay alive, and one day, who knows? Maybe you'll make it to SSS."
