Chapter 35: I Gave You a Chance

"Oh? A chance? How many chances have I given you already, Luo Yaoyao? I'm starting to think you didn't come here to work at all—you're just here trying to seduce people. So let me give you a suggestion: you should sell yourself instead."

How could Manager Zhang say something so vile? Alright then, if that's how she wants to play...

"Manager Zhang, I suggest you watch your words, or I'll have to sue you for verbal assault!"

"What?"

Manager Zhang froze, but before she could respond, Yaoyao continued firmly, "If you insist on firing me, I won't argue further. But according to the company's employment contract, during the probation period, unless there's a major mistake, you have no right to dismiss me!"

Manager Zhang let out a cold laugh. "Ha, you said it yourself—'probation.' That means it's up to me!"

"Is that so? That's merely your interpretation." Yaoyao's tone turned frosty as she smiled coldly. "According to Article 182, Chapter 7 of the Labor Law, employees under probation are entitled to the same treatment as full-time staff. So, if you insist on firing me, you'll need to compensate me for these past few days just like you would a regular employee."

Seeing Yaoyao suddenly take on the demeanor of a seasoned professional, citing labor law like a pro, Manager Zhang was stunned. Who the hell was this girl? Why does she know the law so well? She should've read that résumé more carefully. "Whatever. It's just money. Boson can afford it. You can leave now."

"Good morning, President Yu."

"Good morning, President Yu!"

Right on the dot at 10 a.m., Yu Aotian and his usual four-person entourage strode swiftly toward the executive elevator.

As always, the two receptionists at the front desk lit up like fangirls: "Ahh, it's the best time of the day again. President Yu, Vice President Han, General Manager Long, Manager Long, and Secretary Mo—this squad of hotties is honestly enough to energize me all day long."

"Look at you, such a hopeless fangirl."

"Pfft, like you're any better. Wipe that drool off your face."

It was common knowledge—anyone who'd seen the upper management team of the company couldn't deny how good-looking they all were. Not to mention, they were always seen together.

"Long Ye, how did the Friday meeting with Feng Chenyi go?" As they waited for the elevator, Yu Aotian recalled the recent business matter.

"Very smoothly. But that guy is even craftier than the rumors say. Are you sure you want to bring him in? Be careful—you might be inviting a wolf into your house." Long Ye, Boson's General Manager, was essentially the company's strategist. With his approachable demeanor and sharp mind, he'd opened up countless opportunities for the firm. But after a single negotiation with Feng Chenyi, he realized the man was unlike any opponent he'd dealt with before.

"Heh, doesn't a strong ally make for an even more thrilling future enemy?" Yu Aotian's eyes sparkled with interest. Long Ye's praise of Feng Chenyi only fueled his desire to "collaborate."

"Sigh, Aotian, you're really something. Your interests are always so... unique." They were used to it by now—he had a habit of nurturing powerful rivals, just to eventually defeat them.

The elevator doors opened. Just as Yu Aotian was about to step in—

"Where's Luo Yaoyao?!"

"Huh?" Bai Ling, temporarily manning the executive elevator, blinked. Who was this guy? So... handsome. "Yaoyao... Yaoyao was just fired by our manager. Is there a problem?"

Sensing Yu Aotian's sudden shift in mood, Long Ye quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Oh, it's nothing. Sorry for the trouble. Wrong elevator."

Wow, another handsome one. And so gentle. Thump-thump-thump—Bai Ling's heart was racing at 180 beats per minute. "No... no problem."

As the elevator doors closed, Yu Aotian turned to glare at Long Ye. "Didn't you speak to her department manager?"

"I did."

"Then how the hell did she still get fired?!"

Long Ye had no clue either. "Alright, I'll go fire her department manager right now."

"Long Ye." A cold face twisted into a chilling smile. "Since when did you become so... merciful?"

Ugh, there it was. That smile. To the uninitiated, it looked like he'd calmed down—but those who knew Yu Aotian understood all too well: this was the eye of the storm.

"OK. Got it. I'll handle it."

He turned to Long Qi. "Go find Luo Yaoyao and bring her back. I've got a meeting."

"Got it."

Long Qi had just stepped out of the Boson building when he spotted Yaoyao not far off. "Hey! Flat-chested Princess! Stop right there!"

What would you do if someone shouted that at you in public? Surrounded by strangers shooting her mocking looks, Yaoyao's face flushed bright red as she ran off at full speed.

"Damn, that Flat-chested Princess is running?" Long Qi took off after her.

With her petite frame, she couldn't outrun Long Qi. Within two minutes, he caught her. "Ouch! Let go of me! You're hurting me!" Her dark ponytail was yanked by Long Qi.

With a hard tug, she stumbled right into his arms. "Hmph. Trying to race me? I clearly called out to you. Why'd you run?"

Fighting through the pain on her scalp, Yaoyao glared at him. "Are you serious? You yelled that nickname on a busy street!"

"Ohh, that's why." He let go, but raised his voice even louder with a wicked grin. "Because you are the Flat-chested Princess. What, embarrassed to hear it?"

"Please! Stop shouting! What do you want from me?" At this point, she wished she could just sink into the pavement.

"Hmph. I asked you out for lunch last Friday. Why did you run away?"

That was last week! How could he still remember? "I... I..."

"No excuse, huh? Then come with me."

"What for?!"

As Yaoyao struggled to free herself, Long Qi, ever short-tempered, had a flash of mischief and promptly hoisted her over his shoulder.

"Hey! What's wrong with you?! Put me down!"

Ignoring her protest, Long Qi marched right back into Boson HQ.

"Put me down! Let go!" Yaoyao pounded against his back, legs flailing wildly.

Everyone who witnessed it was stunned. "Wasn't that... Manager Long from Security?"

"Seems like it."

"Who's that girl he's carrying?"

"No idea. But did you see her? She's adorable. Looks like a perfect match for 19-year-old Manager Long."

"That's for sure."

Once they arrived at the service department floor, Long Qi finally set her down... (To be continued)
