The hybrid wolf-man stood there, growling as he flexed his muscles.
The dude was clearly trying to make some kind of "alpha" entrance,
but it wasn't working. The only thing he was proving was that he
spent way too much time watching animal documentaries on
YouTube.
"Are you gonna fight, or are you gonna keep standing there looking
like you just realized your favorite video game franchise was getting
a sequel?" I muttered under my breath.
Kyuu shot me a look but didn't comment. Honestly, I was more
annoyed at the wannabe alpha over there than I was scared. This
was supposed to be a big, dramatic moment, but I couldn't get over
the fact that this guy looked like a discount Halloween costume come
to life.
The wolf-man bared his teeth. "You don't know who you're dealing
with, kid," he snarled.
I shrugged, finally standing up, rolling my shoulders. "Nope. But
you're about to find out who you're not dealing with."
Kyuu blinked, looking at me like I'd grown a second head. "Um, what
are you doing?"
I flashed her a grin. "Trying to survive, remember?"
The wolf-man lunged forward, aiming to make me his next chew toy.
