CHAPTER 86

Chapter 86: Three Parallel Space-Times

"What's the use of the space-time ring?" Li Xu asked. From the name alone, he assumed it had something to do with manipulating time-space boundaries.

"It's primarily used for long-distance communication and emergency evacuation," Chronoa (Kane) explained. "It contains concentrated time-space energy. In a crisis, it can tear open dimensional barriers and allow you to escape across time or space but only once."

"Not bad," Li Xu nodded, slipping the ring onto his finger. A tool that could forcibly bypass dimensional walls was no small asset. Given his current strength, it could serve as a critical lifeline.

"How much do you understand about parallel timelines and alternate dimensions?" Chronoa asked.

"Only what I've read in the manga," Li Xu admitted honestly. "I know about Trunks' alternate future and a few divergent timelines, but that's fiction. This is real, and I'm sure there are deeper layers."

"Correct," Chronoa said. "In reality, the flow of time isn't static. Time-space has a limited self-repair mechanism. Whenever a significant, irreversible change occurs, reality diverges creating two distinct timelines with different developments. These are called parallel space-times."

"So, is the existence of parallel space-time harmful?" Li Xu asked. He had always assumed that any form of time travel instantly created a parallel world. But apparently, the universe had more nuance.

"In excess, yes," Chronoa said. "Too many alternate timelines make universal management unstable. The Dark Demon Realm thrives on this disorder. Their goal is to create more timelines through manipulation and chaos to harvest Dark Energy that accumulates in temporal distortions."

"Dark energy… to break a seal?" Li Xu asked, already suspecting the answer.

"Exactly," Chronoa said gravely. "Mechikabura, the Dark Supreme Kai, remains sealed in a dimensional rift. His subordinates like Towa, Mira, and Dabura are collecting dark energy to resurrect him. Their actions corrupt space-time and threaten all universes."

"How many parallel universes exist now?" Li Xu asked, realizing the scale might already be large.

"At present, there are three officially recognized parallel universes across the multiverse," Chronoa said.

"Wait—aren't there already twelve universes in the standard multiverse? What do you mean by 'parallel universes'?" Li Xu asked, puzzled.

"Good question," Chronoa nodded. "The twelve universes like Universe 7, where you are—belong to the main timeline of the multiverse. But over time, some universes developed parallel branches due to critical divergences. These form separate but coexisting realities parallel universes."

"So outside the standard universe set, are there other realms?" Li Xu asked. He realized his knowledge of Dragon Ball's cosmology was still surface-level.

"Yes. Apart from the twelve main universes, there are special realms that exist outside the known multiverse," Chronoa continued. "These include the Time Nest, where I reside though it's a compact dimension and also the Dragon Realm, home to Super Shenron and divine Dragon Gods, and the Dark Demon Realm, where Mechikabura was born."

"These spaces exist independently of the multiverse?" Li Xu asked, surprised that so many hidden layers existed beyond what was commonly known.

"Yes. But it's best you don't concern yourself with too much too soon," Chronoa said with a gentle warning. "Right now, focus on growing stronger. In time, you'll experience all of this yourself."

"Understood," Li Xu nodded. He had no objection. These truths would reveal themselves in due course, and his top priority remained self-improvement.

"I'll be heading out," Chronoa said, waving. "If a mission arises, I'll reach you through the Time Ring." And with a flash of time energy, she vanished.

"Congratulations, Li Xu," Whis said with a lighthearted tone and a smile.

"What for?" Li Xu chuckled. He didn't place much value in titles like 'Time Patroller.'

"You've been recognized by the Time Patrol," Whis said. "Their members rank on par with Gods of Destruction. Even Lord Beerus, when he awakens, will hesitate before threatening you directly. While you may not be able to beat him yet, your status offers certain protections."

Li Xu shook his head. "Status is superficial. Real power is what earns respect."

He thought of how Supreme Kais and Gods of Destruction technically ranked equally. Yet in practice, Supreme Kais deferred to Destroyers. Without matching power, equality meant nothing.

"Whis, I'll leave the two little ones with you a bit longer. I've got training to focus on," Li Xu said, and with a burst of Instant Transmission, he vanished.

"Drat… I forgot to ask him to cook," Whis pouted, sighing. "His roast pork was divine…"

After leaving the realm of the Gods of Destruction, Li Xu returned to Earth and reappeared at his residence.

"Three parallel universes... Which ones are they?" he wondered aloud. He was tempted to ask Chronoa, but decided against it.

"No. Focus. Don't get distracted by things that don't matter right now," Li Xu told himself. "Only strength matters. With enough power, any mystery can be solved or any threat confronted."

And so, with unwavering resolve, Li Xu headed into his newly enhanced Time Room, ready to push his training further than ever before.

Li Xu took out the Time House that Chronoa (Kane) had remodeled for him.

"One day outside, two months inside. I'll get some serious training done before worrying about anything else," Li Xu thought to himself.

Since Chronoa's Time House only consumed time energy while occupied, there was no need to stay inside continuously for five years. He could enter intermittently, conserving the time energy for optimal usage.

Time passed quickly. It had been almost six months since Li Xu returned from Namek.

In that span, Li Xu had spent the equivalent of nearly two years training on and off inside the Time House. His power had increased dramatically.

One day, while meditating and cycling his ki, Li Xu suddenly sensed a strong, familiar power signature approaching him rapidly—Vegeta.

"That guy? He actually unlocked Super Saiyan this quickly?" Li Xu raised an eyebrow with a faint smirk.

Since Vegeta returned to Earth with Son Goku, Li Xu hadn't paid close attention to his progress. Yet in just half a year, Vegeta had advanced from just over one million in battle power to achieving the legendary Super Saiyan transformation. It was an impressive leap.

Whoosh!

Li Xu's figure flickered out of the Time House and reappeared high above the ocean. Vegeta was flying directly toward him.

"Li Xu!" Vegeta shouted, stopping mid-air with a blast of aura. "I've come to defeat you and prove I'm the strongest Saiyan in the universe!"

Li Xu didn't even flinch. He regarded Vegeta's typical arrogance with indifference.

"Not interested," Li Xu said flatly. "Beat Kakarot first, then maybe you're worth my time."

Vegeta gritted his teeth. He had just recently broken into Super Saiyan and hadn't fully mastered the form. His aura leaked wildly, unable to stabilize.

"Damn you!" Vegeta snarled.

"Haaaah!"

With a roar, Vegeta began powering up. His golden aura erupted violently, causing the ocean beneath to churn. A massive whirlpool formed directly under his feet from the shockwave of his energy.

His transformation into Super Saiyan was still rough and inefficient, drawing far more attention than it should have.

Whoosh!

At that moment, Son Goku appeared using Instant Transmission, arriving with Krillin, Tien Shinhan, and Son Gohan.

"Wow! Vegeta really did it—he became a Super Saiyan too!" Goku exclaimed with a grin. He was genuinely excited to have a rival who could push him further.

After they returned from Namek, Vegeta had asked Goku for a gravity training room and a few Senzu Beans. Then he vanished to train in solitude. Since then, Goku hadn't heard much from him.

But just now, sensing Vegeta's explosive ki from afar, Goku rushed over—Krillin and Tien happened to be nearby, so they tagged along.

"Goku, can you take him?" Krillin asked in a hushed voice.

"Yeah." Goku nodded confidently. His own six months of training had yielded huge gains, and he had already stabilized his Super Saiyan form after sparring with Piccolo and Gohan.

"Good." Krillin exhaled in relief. He feared that if Vegeta became too powerful, no one would be able to stop him from going on a rampage.
