Kaelen could feel his mind slipping. The entity was inside him, inside Mira, inside everything. It was like a poison in his veins, spreading and twisting his thoughts, drowning him in its power.
The walls of the ship seemed to bend, the shadows taking on a life of their own, closing in on him. The very air felt heavy, oppressive.
We are you. You are us.
"No!" Kaelen screamed, his voice echoing through the chamber. "I will not become part of you!"
He backed away from Mira's lifeless body, eyes wide, desperate for a way out. But there was no escape. The entity had already made its presence known. It was inside the ship. It was inside him.
You cannot escape.
Kaelen's knees buckled, and he collapsed to the floor, his hands clutching his head. The whispers were overwhelming, drowning out everything else. The walls around him seemed to pulse, alive with the energy of the entity.
He could feel it spreading, taking control, making him one with it. His thoughts were no longer his own. His body was no longer his own. The darkness was swallowing him whole.
But then, through the fog of his mind, one thought pierced through—clear, sharp, and undeniable.
Mira. She's still there. She's still alive.
Kaelen struggled to his feet, his mind fighting against the pull of the entity. He had to save her. There had to be a way to stop it, to break free from the control.
But how?
The answer was there, just out of reach. He needed to find it. He needed to find a way to contain the entity before it consumed them all.
