Chapter 7- Adventure guild (4)

Since he had gathered the monster cores and gotten their tails as proof, he left immediately. 'I remember we passing by a small pond near here. You can wash up'.

It didn't take long before saw the pond jack was talking about and washed the monster cores. After getting the blood washed off, they looked like small little pebbles. But gave off some faint trace of Qi and life force.

He admired the small core in his hands and couldn't help but think of how to absorb them. 'Wait, didn't jack say that they could be absorbed.' 

Rooaar

He jerked his head to the side as he heard the loud roar that came from the side of the forest. He jumped down from the previous position of sitting on a rock close to the pond. His heart raced in trepidation at what beast could make that loud roar and why would it be running for him.

Then the trees came crashing down and a big furious golden gorilla rushed out. It roared at Mitchell and beat its chest in provocation at him.

Mitchell was shocked. What had he done to enrage such a creature. He would rather run than try to fight that thing.

He attempted to grab his things and run but the Golden gorilla blocked his exit when it realized his plan. It roared again at him and before he knew it, its paw was making its way to him.

'Shit'

He wasted no time and dodged, immediately summoning the purple sword. As the paw swiped past him, he stroke at the arm but when the sword hit it, he jolted back in the sudden shock.

They was a few sparks but the golden gorilla was completely uninjured. It even raised its voice at him again. 'Watch out. Its a magical beast'.

He dodged another attack again at him and asked jack what were magical beasts. Fortunately, the golden gorilla was not too fast and he could cope with its speed so that allowed him some room to listen to Jack's explanation of magical beasts.

'Unlike monster beasts, magical beasts can use Qi in their attacks and their physical capabilities can't be matched with humans. They are mostly intuned with an element and are a lot stronger than monster beasts. Their cores which will now be called magical cores are much more beneficial to human cultivation. While monster beasts cores can be said to be able to give you a slight boost. Magical cores can actually increase your cultivation level even if it's by a small margin but it's still good nonetheless. And after absorbing a particular monster core or magical core, your absorption rate will slow down and they will no longer have any effect.' Jack explained while Mitchell still tried to escape while he dodged and sometimes blocked the gorilla's attacks.

The gorilla suddenly roared and smashed it's fist on the ground which made a loud sonic boom that echore throughout the forest.

Mitchell flew back by several hundred metres and hit the trunk of a tree. Blood ran from his ear and his face was contorted in pain. "Damn. If it can use sonic attacks then it means it must be able to use air elements." He groaned in pain and stood up just before the gorilla rushed at him again. He cursed and began trying to escape again but it would always block his path and attack him. "Crap, what did I ever do to you". He shouted at the gorilla but it ignored him and continued to attack.

'Although its skin is very tough and you can't break through, then I suggest you attacks its eyes. Its reaction speed is not very quick and its speed is even less. You might have a chance at that'. Before jack even finished, he had already began to put the plan into motion.

He ran as fast as his legs could carry him and the gorilla smashed its fists on the ground again. Another sonic boom rang out but this time he was ready and it didn't have as much effect as it first did. He was counting on the gorilla to make an attack like that again and rushed and started to run on the arm of the huge gorilla. His target ... Its eyes.

The gorilla tried to swat him away like a fly but because he was faster than it and he was too small compared to it. He was able to narrowly dodge and he had reached the shoulder.

He jumped and stabbed the eye of the gorilla with his purple sword but the gorilla swatted its hand at him again. And since this time he was in midair, he couldn't dodge and would be hit.

As the sword rushed towards the eye of the beast, the hand of the gorilla was metres away from him and very soon he would feel the full brunt of it's strength.

"At least if am going down, I'll take your eye with me to hell". He laughed evilly and that made the gorilla pause it's hand for a second, but that was all he needed.

His sword stabbed into the eye of the magical beast and it continued to go in until only the hilt could be seen.

He wanted to laugh evilly again but the hand of the gorilla swept him away and he flew for several thousands meters, crashing and breaking several trees down until he stopped ten thousands metres from the dead golden gorilla.

Mitchell stood up with great difficulty as blood gushed out from all seven orifices. He looked like a mess and his leg was broken. He could hardly stand much less walk but he limped towards the dead gorilla. 'I want my magical core'.

He went to the head of tbw gorilla and started to dig for the core of the huge monster beast. And after several hours, he found it. It was as big as his fist and was gleaming with a strange golden light. It had a very strong sense of life force.

Because of his injuries, he wanted to consume the monster cores to aid his recovery and ate the first three monster cores. It melted in his mouth and after several seconds, it dissolved completely in his mouth.

'What are you doing, they don't eat monster cores. Your head will explode.' Jack suddenly shouted.

'Eh?'

'If you eat a monster core, the life force will surge into your brain and it'll explode. Who ever said you should eat it.' He shouted again in worry.

'But you said I can eat it?'

'No i said you can absorb it. Not directly eat it' Jack said again.

'Ehh, whatever' Mitchell shrugged it off and before he knew it, he heard a loud bang ring out inside his body. He had broken through to the next stage of Qi condensation.

'What' they both said at the same time, not sure how his head was still intact. Then another loud bang rang out within him and them another and another. He was suddenly having breakthroughs and he had reached the seventh stage of Qi condensation.

'Since it can't kill me, I might as well just...' Mitchell said to jack and poped the core he got from the golden gorilla into his mouth.

Then he suddenly heard three more bangs ring out and he was in the ninth stage of Qi condensation realm. His body was now bubbling and he felt like he was going to burst. 

Like a dam had been opened within him, but strangely, he felt energized and his wounds healed quicker. But the strange feeling he would burst still did not go away.

Suddenly, thunderclouds began to gather to his location and soon they blocked the setting sun from the sky.

"I don't like whenever this happens."

Mitchell was panicking as he witnessed this own body break through after eating the monster core and there was nothing he could do about it.

' Okay , calm down so here is what is gonna happen. You are about to break through to the next realm so I want you to cultivate as you break through . Breaking through to a new realm is different from breaking through stages.You will face a lightning tribulation to baptize your body into the new realm.' Mitchell had already begun to cultivate as he heard jack talk. Standing there panicking would not do any good so he planned to ride it into the new realm.

He sat down to cultivate as his aura immediately passed the tenth stage and was going higher until it suddenly hit a barrier . He tried to break it but he couldn't.

The sky was darkening as thunderclouds kept gathered over to where he was and very soon he couldnt see angthing other than the clouds in the sky. Mitchell kept trying to break the barrier but to no avail , suddenly lightning dropped and struck him. He felt an excruciating pain in his back and he yelped at tbe sudden pain and clutched at his back but he discovered that it dissolved into pure qi which was full of lightning.

Again he charged at the barrier while lightning kept striking his body , providing him with qi and he shouting each time a lightning bolt hit him.

"How am I still alive". He cried in tears but before they could fall from his face, another lightning bolt hit him and the tears dried up. He continued to charge at the barrier again inspite of the agonizing pain of lightning striking at him.

After a few minutes of charging at the barrier , it broke . Mitchell was glad that it could be over but he felt another barrier again. This one's energy felt familiar like the same energy used in his sword . The already departing lighting clouds came back for another round.

He took a while to study the barrier but found it was a seal , hiding magnanimous power behind it. He hadn't even started to charge at it when lightning struck him . He yelped at the surprise pain as he charged at the barrier again . And like the previous one , after a few minutes it broke just for him to behold another seal similar to the one he just broke but it had the crimson nightmare aura on it .

He could only groan as he wanted to stop because of the pain but jack said to him. 'Please don't stop Lord Fate, the heavens don't allow failures who don't break through and you might also bring on yourself nether punishment which might alert the gods'. Jack begged mitchel and after he heard his words, he had no other choice but to continue to charging at the barrier as lightning baptised him, indirectly urging him to make his breakthrough.

Suddenly, he felt that he had broken through the last barrier and he felt power gushing into his bones, nourishing his skin. And the grievous injuries he had received from the Golden gorilla and the lightning bolts healed at a rapid speed and after a short while, they had healed finished. Not even leaving behind scars. 'Eat more monster cores. Don't let it fool you'. Jack's sudden voice made him reme he was still breaking through.

And he ate monster cores to consolidate his new realm, breaking through unexpectedly into a new realm took a toll on his body, much more than he imagined, but he could feel the new power coursing through his veins. The monster cores now lost their effect as he swallowed them one by one until all nine of them finished. Compared to before, if he ate them, the effects would be almost useless.

He stood up to examine himself, looking at his bare body that was baptized by lightning, he still looked good. In a way.''Aarghh, my clothes are destroyed, now i have to go back like this ''

'You just broke through, how do you feel' Jack asked him, overlooking his small tantrum. He on the other is not too shocked about his breakthrough, the first time absorbing a monster core always give plentiful essence .But he had never met anyone who outright ate a monster core and still remained standing, except if the qi essence is lost and what remains is nearly finished.

''Err...., i feel fine, i guess ''Mitchell simply answered while still paying attention to his surroundings, everything within a thirty metres looks like it has just gone through lightning rain .

'Good thing, he kept the tails of the beasts a good distance away'.

The dark thunderclouds departed soon after and the sky had darkened after his breakthrough. This little hunting journey was in fact very fruitfulness.

Then, his vision darkened and he fell unconscious.
