Audrey’s POV
I was fidgeting impatiently at the Arrivals area, pacing like my life depended on it. My eyes scanned every face, every movement. Every time the doors slid open, my heart jumped — until finally, I spotted him.
“Mommy!”
That little voice shot straight into my soul. I dropped to my knees without even thinking, arms wide open, just in time for my son to launch into them like a rocket.
“Oh my baby, I can’t believe how much you’ve grown.” I kissed every part of his face I could reach — cheeks, nose, forehead — and buried my face in his soft hair, breathing him in. The scent, the warmth, the weight of him. My son.
He wrapped his arms tightly around my neck, refusing to let go.
My parents followed right behind. My mother’s eyes were glassy, and my father — ever composed — gave a tight smile as he watched us.
“I missed you guys so much,” I whispered, holding all three of them.
“We missed you too, baby,” my mother said, kissing the side of my face gently.
