Chapter 34

Drew’s P.O.V

The conversation about moving started quietly, just the two of us on the couch after Ian had finally fallen asleep. The city lights flickered through the window, casting a soft glow across Audrey’s face. I could tell something was weighing on her — the way she picked at the hem of her sleeve, the way her eyes searched mine.

“Do you think we should... start moving?” she asked softly. “God, it’s going to be a lot.”

“Yeah. I do,” I said, without hesitation. “I think we should move before Christmas. And this time, I’m doing it right. No leaving it all to you. I’m going to take care of it. Stop worrying.”

She smiled — uncertain, but hopeful. “I’d like that.”

We sat in silence for a while after that, wrapped in the comfort of what this next step might mean. A place with space for Ian to run, a home we could build together. Something solid. Something ours.
