Chapter 8: COFFEE OR TEA

Seah's Point Of View

“One Expreso Conpana and one americano,” the order was written on a small piece of paper. “What about sweet desert ma'am?” I asked again.

She then again stared at the cafe’s menu. “Pretzel Donuts for two and one bagel please,” I immediately nodded.

“Dine in or take out?” I asked the woman again, who was now smiling at me.

“Dine in,” she answered and walked to where her date I presumed sat.

You could tell she was really evil just by the way her eyebrows arched. And she didn’t even say thank you or smile after ordering.

“This will take awhile I guess,” I whispered and gave their order to the kitchen. Sometimes you really have to be plastic with people who are bad-tempered and difficult to get along with.

The shop was a bit loaded and everyone was quite busy. Commonly students were inside the Coffee shop today, most of them are coming from a high class rich bitch, I guess. Our Cafe is a joke and of course if you are poor you will be really shocked by the high prices.

I mean, it's not really that expensive, the problem is that you can't afford things like that, just because they're happy.

“Leah! Please put this on table four,” Stephen called to me. He was one of the kitchen staff I work with. He was responsible for handling the food and also served and sometimes delivered the order. I nodded quickly and took their order.

I immediately walked over to where table number four was and placed their order in front of them with a smile. They where a couple and the man was very formal.

Might be he had a job, because he was wearing a suit while his date was clearly still a student. He's obviously working at a department store nearby. He still has a pin that says “Assistant Manager” on his left chest. While his date, She wears short-shots and a crop top that's just right for me to look at the vulgar slit on her chest.

And as for the guy, he seemed to be more matured and a bit older than the girl.

Well, as long as they ordered I've got no business with them but you know I sometimes notice everything.

“Here’s your order! Have a great time,” I said and smiled at the girl. Plastic if plastic annoys me on the girl's face.

When I got home, the lights were on in the grill and on the first floor. The lady was sure to be waiting so I hurried into the house.

I didn't have anything to eat but there was food on the table. It was covered and the soup was already cold.

(Just heat the soup if it's cold, p.s. go to bed early.) it was written on the sticky note attached to the lid of the dish.

I was hungry so I just sat at the table and scooped rice into the bowl that was already laid out on the table and piled it on the dishes on the table.

I was about to scoop for another rice when I saw the son of that light of the house coming down the stairs while rubbing his eyes.

“Oh! Here you are! How's work?”

Raphael’s Point Of View

I didn't speak to her for a moment, as she was clearly full of rice and obviously tired and hungry from work.

“I'm going up,” I said goodbye, but before that, I turned off the light on the grill.

That was really my purpose in coming down. I also let the light switch on in the kitchen. She's still eating and maybe if she choked in the dark, our new tenant would die.

“Hmm” she nodded with her mouth full, which made me hold back a giggle.

Her cheeks were really full from the excess. Carrying my notebook, I went back up to where my room was.

I shook my head as I sat down at my study table and read the contents of my notes again. We have a quiz tomorrow and we need to review.

I started thinking about her and bit my lip, confused as I wondered if she had already been reviewed.

“Knowing that she’s working, she probably hasn’t reviewed it yet,” I whispered to myself as I lowered myself to my desk.

“I’ll just let it rest for a while before I start reviewing it,” I concluded and nodded, scratching my chin and returning my attention to reading.

[Exactly 3am]

I yawned as I leaned back against the back of my chair. I rubbed my eyes and was about to fall asleep when I remembered that our new tenant hadn’t reviewed it yet.

I stretched before quickly heading to my window while carrying my notebook in my left hand.

“It’s so cold,” I complained and quickly headed to my closet and put on my jacket.

It's a full moon today and I can see our old balcony. I was going to remove it before but due to the shortage, there was no one to rent it to demolish this balcony.

And it's a good thing because I can go to our tenant's room. Knowing that I'm not allowed to enter the girl's room, so this can be on the balcony, right?

“Pst!” I whispered while knocking on her window.

The thing is we only have the same balcony so I could easily reach her room. She didn't have a curtain yet and I could see her curled up on the bed with her back to where I was now.

“Hey!” I knocked a few more times and she still didn't move.

Just as I was about to leave and she might be asleep, her window suddenly opened.

“What?” she asked in surprise and looked at the balcony. “Is there something like this here?” she asked in surprise.

“Ahhh Yes! It’s been a long time but it’s still strong because it’s cement,” I said carelessly.

She immediately climbed out of her window, which startled me.

“Hey! Slowly,” she jumped out of her room on her tiptoes and immediately took a deep breath while her eyes were closed and her hands were open.

Her posture seemed titanic even in his white night gown while barefoot. I also winced when I remembered that he was wearing a white night gown and that he was like a ghost on the balcony.

“Why are you still awake?” I immediately looked at the woman who was looking

at me now, her eyes devoid of any emotion.

“You don’t have anything to review, do you?”
