Senorita's mood shifted drastically after the encounter with her mother at the principal's office. The disappointment, the weight of the conversation, it all sunk in, leaving her with a sense of emptiness. To escape it, she decided to skip class.
Her phone rang. Checking the caller ID, it was Lake calling.
She answered.
"Honey, where are you? The last class ended over 30 minutes ago, and we've been looking for you," Lake said immediately as she picked up.
"I'm fine, Lake. You girls can go home without me," Senorita replied, her voice cold.
"What? How are you going to get home? We only took one car today," Lake asked, confusion and concern clear in her tone.
"You shouldn't worry about me. You can go home. I'll trek home," Senorita said.
"Senorita, are you sure you're alright?" Lake asked, her concern intensifying.
"You know what? Where are you? I'll come find you," Lake added, her voice laced with worry.
"Lake, stop worrying. I'm not a kid anymore. You can go. I'm fine," Senorita replied.
---
A few more hours passed, and Senorita was still in the same spot, lost in her thoughts.
Her phone rang again, this time it was her mother.
She rolled her eyes and rejected the call.
The phone rang again.
She rejected it again.
After a few more attempts, Senorita sighed in frustration and finally decided to pick up.
"Senorita," Emily called softly.
"Mother," Senorita replied, not masking her irritation.
"Why were you bouncing my calls?" Emily asked, her voice laced with concern.
"I only feel guilty for the way I talked to you, that's all," Senorita replied, her tone softening slightly.
"You should know, I'm not angry with you, dearest," Emily reassured her.
"I called Lake, and she told me what that girl did to you. I'm sorry for supporting her when I didn't know what happened," Emily said, guilt in her voice.
"Do you want me to take the matter up and teach her a lesson? No one messes with my angel and gets away with it," Emily added, her protective side showing.
"It's fine, mother. She isn't someone I can't handle. You shouldn't stress yourself," Senorita said, trying to calm her down.
"Alright, if you say so," Emily said softly.
"Bye, mother. I love you," Senorita said, her voice softer now.
"Love you more, sweetheart," Emily said before hanging up.
Senorita sighed and dropped her phone into her bag.
---
"Do you realize what time it is?" a voice asked from behind.
Senorita turned to look at him before facing forward again.
She ignored him.
"It's late already. You should go home, Rita," Sugar said, his voice gentle but firm.
Senorita stood up, brushing past him, but he grabbed her hand.
"Why aren't you talking to me?" he asked, his voice softer now.
"You just said I should go home, which I'm about to do," she replied, trying to pull away.
"Let me drop you off. It's late already," he said, a hint of concern in his tone.
"You shouldn't bother. I'm going to drop her off," Rowan's voice cut through the air as he walked up to them.
"As you can see, I asked first, so I'll be the one to drop her," Sugar replied, his tone edgy.
"Let's go, Rita," he said, attempting to walk away with her, but Rowan wasn't having it. He punched Sugar, catching him off guard.
Sugar fell to the ground, groaning.
Sugar angrily stood up, ready to retaliate, but Senorita stepped in the way.
"Sugar, don't do it!" she pleaded, her voice urgent.
Sugar glared at Rowan, his hands clenched into fists, but he stormed off, angry.
Senorita turned to Rowan, fury flashing in her eyes.
"What was that for, huh? Why did you punch him?" she yelled, her voice full of anger.
"Senorita, I was only looking out for you," Rowan said calmly, trying to explain.
"Trust me, he's a total jerk," Rowan continued.
Senorita didn't want to hear it. She slapped him hard across the cheek, her anger boiling over.
"And who the hell do you think you are, telling me what to do?" she yelled.
"I hate you! You're no different from him!" she added, her voice sharp with disdain.
"I'm giving you one last warning: stay far from me, Rowan," she snapped, before storming away.
Rowan sighed, running his hand through his hair, frustration written all over his face.
---
Senorita ran to catch up with Sugar, who was already walking away.
She grabbed his arm and pulled him into a nearby classroom.
"Why did you do that?" Sugar asked, his voice filled with frustration as the door clicked shut behind them.
"Stay still," Senorita said, her voice soft but firm. She reached into her bag and pulled out a piece of cotton wool, sprinkling some disinfectant on it.
She gently pressed it against his bloody lips, cleaning the wound.
"Next time, Rita, don't stand in my way when I need to punch someone's head straight," Sugar said, his voice gruff.
She looked at him seriously.
"I don't want you fighting with him," she replied, her voice quieter now.
"Is he your boyfriend?" he asked, a smirk tugging at his lips.
Senorita chuckled lightly.
"I'd rather date a goat than date him," she said, the amusement in her voice not matching the gravity of the situation.
She finished cleaning the wound and placed the cotton wool away.
"It's all done. But still... don't talk to me," she said, a faint warning in her tone.
Sugar smiled despite the tension.
"I'll drop you off," he said, his voice softer now.
"No, I insist. I'm not changing my mind," she said firmly.
---
Senorita walked across the lonely estate, the moon shining brightly above her, offering its light in the darkness.
Suddenly, a car stopped in front of her, blocking her path.
Six men stepped out, their presence intimidating.
"Who are you, and how did you get in?" she demanded, her voice sharp with authority.
"This is no time for questions. Bring her!" one of them snapped.
They rushed at Senorita, and she tried to run, but they were quick to catch her. She fought back, but she knew her strength couldn't match theirs.
She screamed for help, hoping someone would hear her.
One of the men tried to cover her mouth with a handkerchief, but suddenly, a baseball hit him square in the head. He collapsed instantly, unconscious.
The others turned in surprise, and Sugar stood there, holding a golf stick.
"Get him!" the leader barked, and the other four rushed at Sugar.
A brutal fight ensued. Sugar fought back with raw skill, knocking down one man after another.
But just as he was about to take down the leader, Senorita was distracted. The unconscious man had regained consciousness and was now pointing a gun at her.
She didn't see it coming.
She turned, and the man fired. The bullet flew toward her.
She braced herself for the pain, closing her eyes, but it never came.
She opened her eyes, her breath catching in her throat.
"Sugar!!!" she screamed, her heart racing as she saw him standing between her and the bullet, blood staining his shirt
