Only Time Will Tell

She didn't tell him about what she discovered over the passing days, she figured it would be better to do when the time is right. So they took the time to get use to living with her uncle at his estate.

It wasn't too different from what she was used to but it was entirely different for Artemis to adjust to. He was typically outside doing the manual work that her family wanted him to do.

Marcelo did ask him a few times about the chains on him but Artemis did his best to avoid saying anything to him about it. He didn't trust him much with anything but only time could tell if that would change.

We've been here about a week so far and I haven't learned all that much about the world or even Marcelo. Amelia says I should trust him and that there's nothing to worry about, so I've been trying to.

My instincts have been a bit on edge since the massacre, I don't really know what to expect now. "Hey, what do you think is a good step to take next?" Amelia asks with a bit of curiosity in her voice.

Asking me about what steps to take next is the last thing I would know a thing about. I don't know where I'm supposed to go now or where we're supposed to go.

"That's something I would expect you to know since you did come in and ask me to stay." Artemis responds with a confused expression on his face.

Amelia took a few moments to respond before looking back towards the door. "I'll figure it out and we'll talk more about it later on." Amelia says before heading for the door.

I didn't have much to say on that since she was right, we'd figure it out later on. I'm not sure I know how to move forward, even if I was the one to decide.

Maybe that's why I need to take advantage of this now, time to start researching while I wait around. The books in my room were definitely some good starting points for me to learn from.

Artemis did exactly what he said he was going to do, he would read the books in his room to learn as much as he can. It took him most of the day to read everything in the books he had.

The books taught him about the the wars, how magic came to be, and even some stuff about the lands. It was definitely quite the experience for him to learn all about it.

Knowing about these things would be very helpful in moving forward since it was the strongest weapon in any world, knowledge.

I know these books aren't the only ones that will teach me so I have a lot to find and understand still. I'll need to find more if I want to truly know everything about this world.

I'm just surprised that people have written about the wars, magic, and even things about the land that I didn't know. I needed to figure out what continent was the best one to reside on.

Every continent is different from my understanding but I don't really know which one will be the best to head to. But what I did know is that I wanted to figure out where the group of men came from that attacked us.

Finding them was crucial since it meant Amelia is in danger this whole time until they are dealt with. They were obviously hunting her family for a reason so what exactly do they know about them?

Amelia's family seemed pretty normal in my opinion but I don't have a way to read people's magic or power or just anything for that matter. There could be secrets that they know about it so maybe it would be best to ask Amelia about it.

The night was approaching and it didn't take long for Amelia to come back to Artemis's room since she did tell them that they would talk more later.

Knock. Knock. "Come in." Artemis says calmly.

Amelia comes through the door and closes it behind her. "I haven't figured out the whole plan just yet but I do think that we'll have to start traveling soon. I'd say the port of Nexus is the best place to go." Amelia suggests while taking a seat in a chair.

The port of Nexus was actually in the one book I read earlier today, a city that's entirely devoted to trades and travel. It's been around for a long time and is a pretty well known city for all of that.

Most people recommend it to go to for any sort of travel or even rare goods.

"So we should probably head for Nexus at the end of the week. It'll give us time to get ahead of the incoming storm." Amelia continues on as Artemis sits quietly.

"I agree. Let us get some rest for the night then so we can start planning more out tomorrow." Artemis responds while laying back in his bed.

I've still got a lot to learn about Amelia but that's what traveling will be good for over the coming days. I'll take the initiative to talk to her about more things since I'm the one who seems to be curious.

"Yeah. Would it be alright if I stayed in here tonight?" Amelia asks with a bit of worry in her voice.

"Uh. Sure, you could stay here tonight." Artemis answers with a surprised look on his face.

I made room on the bed and it didn't take her long to get into it next to me but it wasn't anything crazy. I'm sure it was the past events giving her bad thoughts or maybe even nightmares.

I'm only able to say that because it still haunts me as well. Some nights I've had them lately and others they just disappear.

"Thank you for letting me stay in here tonight." Amelia says before closing her eyes.

It is my job to keep her safe so I wouldn't tell her no to staying in here tonight.
