Elite giant scorpion

It was the middle of the day. The sun was scorching hot. The sands absorbed the heat, making it hard to stand. In these sands, a young man was walking with a backpack and a map in hand. " I need to find the ruins before nightfall", said the man.

Explorers also gain a map as their beginner equipment. It was not worth mentioning at the beginning, as it will just be an empty paper at the start. The more you explore the area, the map will record your exploration in it.

Night in a desert is not easy. All the scorpions go to sleep under the sand during the night, so no scorpions will attack at night. Sounds easy, but the cold weather will almost freeze you to death, and we have new monsters at night.

These new monsters are at a minimum level 5. It has been 2 hours since the fight with the 3 scorpions. On his way, Marco ran across 4 cactuses and 10 Giant scorpions. Now having strength, Marco had no problem dealing with these monsters. Marco was finally level 4.

He put his newly gained unallocated stat points (2*10) into endurance and luck equally. Marco needed stamina to last in the desert. After all these extreme conditions take a toll on your stamina a lot.

Marco put the other 10 stat points into luck. This was just a way of leaving it to god and finding ruins before nightfall. On his journey, Marco saw another cactus, but this one was different. This cactus had a green fruit on top of it.

" It looks like it is almost ripe now", said Marco with a smile. This was a cactus fruit. They only spawn on top of a cactus. After spawning, it takes one month for the cactus fruit to form on the same cactus again!

Cactus fruits can help the one who eats them gain poison resistance. In a desert filled with scorpions laced with poison, this fruit is a prime resource. Each cactus has scorpions buried under it, waiting for a fruit to ripen.

Monsters with a poison attribute will go crazy over a cactus fruit. Cactus fruits can help these monsters evolve into an elite or a boss monster. Monsters have 3 grades - Normal, Elite and Boss. Each monsters have different levels of strength, even if they are on the same level.

After the analysis, the players accepted that an elite monster's strength is comparable to a normal monster 3 levels higher than it. For Boss monsters, it is equal to normal monsters 5 levels above it.

So when Marco cut the cactus in half, he destroyed a cactus fruit spawner. The scorpions buried under were rightfully pissed but that was none of his business. This is a world where the strongest survive. Marco went near the fruit, and suddenly, an Elite level 5 giant scorpion popped out of the ground.

When it comes to the Elite giant scorpion, the soft spot under its body is replaced with hard armour. Only his eyes are his weak spots. Marco said, "Finally, a worthy opponent, it's time to check out my new weapon on you."

"There is a lot of loot, I don't think I can carry it all. I can put some in my inventory, but I don't wanna waste those precious 10 spots," said Marco

Marco already stored his knife, map and compass in it. He put the compass in his bag, leaving 8 slots. Items cannot stack in this inventory, so he put the 2 stingers and 3 bladders inside, leaving him with 3 slots. He put the raw meat and 2 pincers inside. He then used the hard shell of a scorpion as a base and tore down 2 pincers into 4 halves of knife heads.

He crafted 4 shortswords with these 2 pincers with their body armour as a base. He also crafted 4 hilts and attached them to his belt. He then tore open the remaining stinger and laced these 4 shortswords with paralysis poison.

He abandoned the remaining pincers instead of taking them in the bag. He knew that these pincers would only weigh him down and slow down his pace. Although he knew it was the right choice, his mind couldn't accept it.

Marco is what others will call a hoarder. He is just a little crazier than the other hoarders. His heart pains at the sight of leaving behind the pincers.

Back to present

Marco pulled out one of his short swords. 2 were in his belt, and the other 2 in his bag. He laced the sides of the hilt with paralysis poison so that he could have a poison-covered weapon at all times.

Marco did not have the blacksmith subclass to craft this equipment, so their total durability and all of their effects will be reduced by half. Marco rushed towards the giant scorpion, dodging its attacks, and stabbed its eye with the poisoned shortsword.

The scorpion was smarter than the others. After it got hit in its left eye, it was always on guard whenever Marco ran towards its left side. It knew that Marco would attack from its blind spot, but what it didn't understand was how Marco kept getting faster.

It suddenly realised that this was nothing new. It understood that this is the poison it used to kill it's prey. It would enjoy watching its prey struggle until it falls down with no strength. Now it understood the true horror of being the prey.

The scorpion's speed decreased drastically, allowing Marco to close the distance and punch the sword into the Scorpion's brain. Except for some extra-large pincers and stingers, there was nothing new with the loot (body parts) of the Elite giant scorpion.

Marco crafted 2 long swords with this 'loot'. He put the longswords into his backpack and took out a pincer he stored in his inventory. The cactus fruit ripened into a pink-looking strawberry-like flower. This flower condensed and gave out a peach-like fruit.

Marco rushed to the fruit and stored it in his inventory. He did not care about his stamina anymore as he started running North at high speed.

Giant scorpions are not the only monsters attracted to cactus fruit. It takes an hour to fully absorb the fruit, and it sends a scent after ripening to attract all beasts. In the inventory,, its smell will not come out.

Marco kept running and noticed that he had just reached level 5, so he put 5 points into stamina and agility and kept running until he stopped. He did not run out of stamina or will to live, but was astonished by what he saw in front of him. It was none other than what he was searching for.

In front of Marco was the treasure containing DESERT RUIN.
