Chapter 69: Paul’s Atonement

After leaving the slum, John didn't head to the Feazer Medical Clinic. Instead, he returned to Greenland Villa.

He hadn't yet depicted the Mind Circle. Today, he was determined to finish it.

To avoid further misunderstandings with his sisters, John left the door unlocked. They wouldn't be home from work for a while, giving him plenty of time to complete the Mind Circle.

The more attention something required, the more difficult it became. The cure for Anny was the same.

It would take less than twenty minutes to depict the Mind Circle for the entire Greenland Villa. But when it came to a stone chip with a diameter of only ten centimeters, the task became far more challenging.

This required a powerful ability to control the mind.

It wasn't until dusk that John finally finished painting the entire Mind Circle. A few minutes later, his eldest sister, Queenie, arrived home.

Seeing John breathing heavily, Queenie raised an eyebrow, grabbed his ear, and scolded, "Can't you control your impulses? I catch you again! This won't do any good for your kidneys!"

"Queenie, you're misunderstanding me!" John protested.

He hadn't locked the door today, yet Queenie had misunderstood again. Was he really that indecent in her eyes?

Queenie retorted, "I don't care whether I'm misunderstanding you or not. In any case, you're not allowed to stay home alone from now on! Or ten kidneys won't be enough for you."

John sighed bitterly. "Queenie, you're exaggerating!"

"Exaggerating?" Queenie glared at him. "Don't be irresponsible. If you're self-indulgent and ruin your kidneys, what about your future wife? You say you're going to marry us. Can you really stand it?"

John's eyes widened.

What was she implying?

John slapped his forehead and smiled, "You mean, as long as I have a strong body, all of you will marry me?"

Queenie fell silent for a moment. That wasn't the main point of her words! But… John wasn't entirely wrong.

A light bulb went on in her head.

In an effort to make John value his health, Queenie's expression shifted from aloof to a radiant smile. "Well, you're right. So, try to control yourself!"

John smiled inwardly. Although Queenie had misunderstood him, there was a spark of hope in her words.

Perhaps fulfilling his childhood promise wasn't entirely impossible?

"Ha, even though Queenie has this aloof exterior, she really does care about me," he thought. "Now, I'm going to marry Queenie first!"

He let himself daydream about their future life together.

Queenie probably hadn't realized that her casual words of encouragement had planted a seed in John's mind.

A moment later, Queenie, now dressed in loose pajamas, sat on the sofa with an insulated mug in her hand. She looked slim and elegant, her demeanor dignified like a swan gliding on water.

"I'm going to the capital tomorrow. You'll come with me," she said.

"To the capital?" John asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I have to negotiate a cooperative project. I might be in the capital for several days, so I want you with me."

The orders worth nearly ten billion from the Duke of Southern River and several other influential clans had boosted Queenie Group, making it one of the top companies in New York, just behind the Russell family.

Queenie Group had essentially finished its market development in New York. If the company wanted to expand further, it would need to tap into the capital's market. That's why Queenie needed to go on this business trip.

As for why she wanted John with her…

It was obvious!

If he stayed at home, he would indulge his desires. Worse, there was Alice at home, too…

Queenie worried that if she left John alone, things would be turned upside down by the time she returned from the capital.

If John knew her real intentions, he would certainly feel wronged and burst into tears. "Is that how you see me?"

Well, Queenie wasn't sure.

After all, John had seven sisters, all of whom were stunningly beautiful and had captivating figures. If they played together in the pool again, no matter how self-disciplined John was, it might be hard for him to resist.

In any case, John couldn't refuse Queenie's request to go to the capital with her.

On the day they left, a grand wedding was taking place in New York.

The groom was James, and the bride was Amy.

After the wedding, Amy immediately took over a crucial division of the Russell family: the New York Newspaper Office.

Soon after, articles attacking Queenie flooded the media. Headlines screamed: "Queenie, mistress of the Duke of Southern River, secretly kept a gigolo."

In an instant, New York was brimming with criticism of her.

The Duke of Southern River, Maxwell, George, and others who knew the truth were all rattled.

What was the Russell family thinking? They were playing with fire!

Daring not to intervene, they warned their people to keep quiet, or even the gods themselves wouldn't be able to save them.

Meanwhile, the Holland family was on the brink of collapse.

Since Karl, the son of Paul Holland, had offended Queenie, the Holland family's status along the southern river had plummeted.

The influential families in southern New York knew that the man helping Queenie was none other than the King of Horizon. Who would dare do business with the Hollands now that they had made an enemy of her?

In less than a month, the Holland family's market value had dropped by billions of dollars every day.

At this rate, the Holland family would soon disappear.

However, today, Paul saw a glimmer of hope from the Russell family's provocation.

"Haha, Mason Russell, your grandson married well. Congratulations!" Paul laughed maniacally. He knew John's secret identity; John wasn't just Queenie's kept man, nor her brother-in-law. John was the King of Horizon!

The Russell family was doomed for daring to slander him.

It wouldn't be long before the Russell family was destroyed. Once they were gone, their share of the market in northern New York would be up for grabs by other prominent families.

If Paul wanted a piece of that pie, he needed to do one thing first—atone for his sins.
