How to catch the boss

According to what he could see with his {Wise eyes}, the Dungeon Crawler was strong.

============

The boss that appeared before him was no simple being. It was more than twice his current level. In normal circumstances, without proper equipment, he would have backed off and tried to employ a unique strategy for this creature.

The easiest way to kill the dungeon crawlers was through overwhelming strength differences. However, it wasn't present in this case.

This was the first time he was facing a creature like this in the tutorial as well so he knew the rewards for defeating one weren't going to be small.

Still, since this was a boss, killing this one wasn't the end goal here. He was after something else, so, the strategy that he needed to use here was also going to be a little different.

[{ "Uni." }]

Since the eyeless creature was sensitive to sound and smell, KiRA used the inherent connection between him and his companion, a mental telepathic link to communicate with Unity.

[{ Yes, master! }]

When using this link, she did not have to chirp like she would in her bird form. This form was pretty uncomfortable to her as well, but she needed to endure it for the time being.

[{ "We will corner it directly. I want you to help me with the preparations." }]

[{ Yes master! Just command me! }]

Unity had some idea what she needed to do, but KiRA explained to her the details while both of them hid far away from the creature.

Sneak attacks weren't going to work on a being like that. The body of the creature was covered in a rough layer of Mana.

If KiRA tried to cut it the same way he had done with the other creatures, his precious strings could break down. And he did not want that.

That's why, he plotted something new.

[{ Go. }]

Dawning his dark cape, as if he were an assassin hiding in the shade of the darkness, he closed his distance without making any sounds.

[{ "Now." }]

"Viv~!" (Look here you piece of shit~!)

In places where it was unavoidable, Unity helped him by making a sound in a different direction to distract the creature for a moment.

Due to all the curse debuffs placed on her, she was practically a ghost to the eyeless being. Even if it could hear it when she made a sound, it wasn't possible for even beings of this level to sense her miniscule presence.

"Viv." (Ok…)

Unity reached the end wall of the dungeon where an invisible barrier blocked the subway junction. From there, she started weaving the threads that she had carried with her in a unique pattern that had some large openings to them.

It wasn't like the previous death array that KiRA created. This was something different. Something that was meant for a different purpose.

"Viv~." (Alright!)

Right after she finished the formation– something that took a while due to her small beak and uselessly small body– she came back and nodded at KiRA who was ready with the six strings intertwined to make a single, thicker whip wrapped around his white gloves.

[Companion: Unity has used a skill: Blessing of flames (Lv.1) on ID: KiRA.]

[Skill effect: (+Fire attribute) will be applied to the target.]

[Item: (Boost potion) has been used.]

[All stats have been increased by (+5) for 10 Minutes.]

If it were any other creature, he would have used a battle of attrition strategy. But since this was a dungeon crawler, this specific creature weak against [Purity], he decided to face the creature head on.

Still, just facing the creature wasn't enough. He wasn't strong enough to kill this one even with the buffs.

"Ktktktktkt!"

He had made his preparations though, so he walked out of the shadows.

"Yo buddy." The creature sensed his presence in an instance and with an eerie smile on its toothy mouth, the creature jumped up like a spider on its four limbs.

"Kyakyakyakyakyakyakyakyakya!"

Making a weird sound with its bones and flesh, in the blink of an eye, the creature crossed the distance between them.

"Ktktktkt!" KiRA did expect this kind of speed but this still surprised him. The creature was stronger and faster than what he remembered from the game.

-Kut!

The sharp claws at the end of the long fingers resembling barbeque needles collided with KiRA's intertwined string.

-Peng!

These strings would not have been able to block these sharp claws had they been individual, but in this form, they were stronger. And sturdier.

-Bang!

They still did not block the force of the attack though– KiRA was thrown back a few steps.

The creature did not give him any chance to attack either and proceeded to land the second hit, however KiRA was done evaluating the creature's power.

-Swash!

Taking a narrow step to the left, he avoided the well familiar attack of the creature.

"Ktktktktktkt!"

The surprised Crawler did not hesitate to land the third hit though. But no strike following the first one worked against his opponent.

"Hupp!!" KiRA kept his focus, using his {Wise eyes} as well as {Precise calculations} to avoid every one of the hits.

"KTKTKTKTKT!"

"Tsk!"

Some of the hits still passed through his defenses though. And, to any normal player, this would have been the killing blow.

[Due to the effect of unique stat [Purity], you have resisted {Mana toxin}.]

But his unique stat saved him this time as well.

"Ktktkt!"

He used his golden Whip to tie down the opponents' limbs.

Using his enhanced physical capabilities, he took full advantage of the narrow subway tunnel.

He jumped up and dashed around the place to avoid the opponent and land attacks of his own.

KiRA persistently fought against the creature for a while, managing to subtly push it back with his precisely coordinated attacks.

"Ktktktktktkt!" The crawler still fought back without any problems. The deep smirk on its face had stayed there from the beginning to the very end.

Just from the initial few blows, the creature knew its opponent was weak.

He wasn't strong enough to pose any threats to it so, the creature played with its prey.

The crawler deliberately gave some openings so that it could exploit the gaps that KiRA would leave.

Through instincts alone, the creature cornered KiRA to the edge of the tunnel, the narrowest place with nowhere to escape to.

"Ktktktkt!" It smirked as it looked at the cornered prey. However, little did the dumb creature know…

"Thank god you're still as arrogant as I remember."

He wasn't the one hunting the prey.

Here, against this specific opponent, the match was decided from the moment they exchanged their first blows.

[{ "Uni!" }]

As soon as KiRA gave the signal, Unity pulled on the strings that were set up in a way that when activated…

-Dhum

They would make anyone stepping on them fall to the ground back first.

[{ Master! }]

It wasn't the one who cornered its prey. It was the crawler that had walked into the trap of a hunter.

"Haa!"

KiRA did not need even a few seconds to take this opportunity and tie down the creature's limbs with his strengthened whip.

Knowing the effects of its rough skin, the tying technique that he used was also specially crafted for their kind.

"Huppp!"

After tying it down, to not leave any room for escape, he also hung it up, attaching it to another fortified string.

"Huuuu…"

With this, he had subdued the dungeon's boss. Still, this much was not enough. The threat of the creature's other skill, the {Dark release} still loomed over them.

So, to counter it…

"One would be a little too much, but who cares anyway. It's just a crawler."

KiRA took out one of the Mana crystals from his inventory.

And shoved it deep inside the enraged mouth of the damned monster.
