No castle, no riches. Just rotting wood, worn-out roads, and a wall between humanity and the monsters outside.
Serena Vaelmont, last of her bloodline and unwilling baroness of this dying village, knows her place: hold the line, keep the beasts at bay, and die if she has to. But when the howls beyond the wall fall silent and the monsters begin to flee, Serena comes to a terrifying realization.
Something far worse than any amount of monsters has arrived.
I will shamelessly give myself a good review. So in return, you can ask me any question below this about my book and I will answer them as detailed as possible
This has really solid grammar and a very good start, it’s an amazing debut and I hope that a lot more people give it a chance.
It is well paced so that it doesn‘t feel rushed but it also isn‘t to slow. The world seems to be very big and world building seems to be important but the story never feels like „oh no, this is way to much info dump. I just want action bruh“ it has confrontation and holds you to the edge of your seat. It is interesting and already sets a great foundation for future developement
The sensory imagery used by the author enhances the readers experience. You can visualize what the MC sees, feel what she feels, smell what she smells, feel the cold air whipping across your face. The attention to detail with the character and world are top notch for a new writer. The pacing improves throughout and the first five chapters leave readers wanting more. So many possibilities exist as to what could happen with the MC and who she discovers. Also, the King is hilariously lazy. A sense of comedic relief goes a long way when the MC’s town is literally looked down upon and rundown. Nice job, author! I will edit my review on update sustainability once you get to regularly posting! Sorry if the 3 felt harsh. Only 5 chapters and 1d+ waiting for another. We want it!
I barely was having a speechless moment there... I got to be fairly honest here, but by the time I read the synopsis, it exudes mystery already. It persuaded you to begging for the questions just way before I read the first chapter. And oh wow... just how truly right I was. It delivers immersive storytelling combined with a compelling narrative out of nowhere, not to mention the fresh twist among these so-called abundant fantasy tropes reliant on systems, gave you a sight to behold, a joy to watch, and an entertainment to read. A classic fantasy to experience. All of these along with the vivid details given in each scene, with the main character wasn't even trying to hide herself at all seeing the lowly treatment just because of her origin, those gave you nothing but vibes. Vibes that something really have been going on but we never know what, why, or when it will happen. It simply flows like a whirlwind, in the most mellifluous sense. At last but not least. I would highly recommend this story for those who want to learn on how to create vivid and detailed depictions of both environment and characters even when it only has 7 chapters. Strangely enough, I usually would say a story got potentials in a review. But no, not for now. This time, I must say the potentials are seeking for this story instead, seeing the way it is developed in the most melticulous manner. Alright, that's all and thank you for reading this.
