Chapter 110: Mira – Then Sleep in My Bed?

Jehfrit sat on a swing, watching Mira bustle about.

The clear morning sunlight illuminated her already fair skin, making it appear as delicate and radiant as an exquisite porcelain artifact.

Pink…

Expectedly so.

Mira turned her head and gave Jehfrit a faint smile before grabbing the clothesline pole and tossing it toward him like a javelin.

Jehfrit quickly dodged, breaking into a cold sweat as he watched the pole sink halfway into the ground.

"What are you doing?!"

"Oh my, my hand slipped. Could you hand me the clothesline?" Mira chuckled, casually hanging a pair of panties on the rack.

"…"

Jehfrit picked up the pole, which Miko cleaned with a single swipe of her hand. As he walked over to Mira, he muttered, "I only glanced once. Was it really necessary to do something so dangerous?"

"It was just a slip of the hand," Mira replied, hooking the hanger onto the pole. "Besides, who told you to let your eyes wander?"

"How could anyone control that?" Jehfrit grumbled.

"It's not like it's anything special. Just two pieces of fabric," Mira said dismissively.

"If it's just two pieces of fabric, then letting me take a look or even helping you hang them shouldn't be a problem, right?" Jehfrit countered.

"In that case, I'll leave it to you. I'm feeling a bit thirsty, so I'll leave the rest to you," Mira said, handing over the clothesline pole.

Jehfrit stared blankly as Mira walked toward the house. He called out hurriedly, "You're really leaving this to me?"

"It's not a big deal. No need to double-check," Mira replied, hands behind her back as she swayed her hips and disappeared into the house.

"…"

Jehfrit lowered his head.

All that remained were a dress, a few shirts, and some pants.

He picked them up one by one and hung them on the line.

"You've worked hard," Mira said, walking over with a glass of water just as Jehfrit finished.

"So, what did you call me here to help with?" Jehfrit took the glass and sipped the water.

*Sip sip.*

It was slightly sweet.

"The spring water from Monias Town is said to improve sleep quality," Mira explained. "I bought a lot of it, along with some soil from there."

She pointed to a corner of the yard where some miscellaneous items were piled. "I plan to clear all this out and set up a grape arbor. That way, when it's time to make wine—"

"Later!" Jehfrit cut her off mid-sentence and turned to leave.

*Plop.*

Mira grabbed his wrist just as he was about to walk away.

"Manual labor? I refuse," Jehfrit declared firmly.

"This is punishment. Refusal isn't allowed."

"Then hit me," Jehfrit said, closing his eyes.

"I wouldn't dream of hitting you," Mira sighed. "Looks like I'll have to switch to a reward instead."

"What?" Jehfrit looked at her in confusion.

*Swipe.*

Mira pulled out two discount cards. "Aharnati Town has been rebuilt and renamed Felix Town. I got these two coupons—they give 50% off on all purchases."

She extended her slender fingers, pressing the coupons against Jehfrit's chest. "Come with me when we go."

"That doesn't count as a reward," Jehfrit remarked dryly.

"…" Mira pouted slightly before adding, "Then when we go, you pick something, and I'll pay for it."

"Anything at all?"

"Of course."

"Not afraid I'll pick something expensive and bankrupt you?" Jehfrit smirked.

"If I go bankrupt, I'll just apply to work at your store and earn the money back," Mira laughed.

Jehfrit reached out and took one of the cards, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. "Then get ready. Hehehe."

He let out an evil chuckle, already plotting some devious scheme.

Mira didn't seem fazed. "It's not much trouble. Just clearing out some stuff and assembling the grape arbor. The parts are pre-made; all you have to do is put them together."

"Isn't this something Elfman would be better suited for? He's strong and has experience with manual labor," Jehfrit suggested.

"Ever since Elfman entered puberty, we've been living separately. Besides, he's busy with his own things now. I can't keep relying on him," Mira said with a feigned sigh.

"After all, brothers grow up and eventually leave home. I can't always depend on him."

"Are you planning to rely on me instead?" Jehfrit teased.

"We'll see how you perform," Mira smiled, then added, "Come inside. You need to change."

"Change?" Jehfrit raised an eyebrow.

"You can't wear those clothes while working. I bought some for Elfman, but they're too small now since someone else keeps buying him new ones. They should fit you perfectly for the job, so you don't ruin your own clothes."

"Uh…"

Jehfrit stepped into Mira's house. She handed him a set of clothes still tagged with price stickers.

Once he changed, he found the fit remarkably perfect. "Are you sure these were for Elfman?"

Mira examined him with satisfaction. "Mm, Elfman grows so fast."

"That makes them practically old clothes, though," Jehfrit muttered. With Elfman's rapid growth spurt over the past couple of years, these clothes—though technically new—had been sitting unopened for over a year.

"Don't you appreciate free stuff?" Mira asked, puzzled.

"I suppose," Jehfrit nodded. He moved his limbs experimentally. The clothes fit snugly yet comfortably, almost tailor-made.

Though the design was simple, the garment likely wasn't cheap.

Given their age, they weren't brand-new, but they appeared clean and dust-free. For free, there was no reason to complain.

"Tag," Mira said, reaching for the string.

"I'll grab scissors," Jehfrit offered, holding out his hand as Miko prepared to pass him a card.

But Mira simply pinched the string with her nails, snapping it effortlessly despite its apparent toughness.

"…" Jehfrit fell silent. Mira looked up and smiled. "No need."

"Well then, good luck, Mr. Jehfrit!" Mira patted his shoulder encouragingly.

"Jehfrit, need me to help?" Miko asked.

"Nah, it's just assembling a grape arbor," Jehfrit shook his head.

Mira wanted to grow grapes to make drinks (or perhaps wine) for him.

Honestly, Jehfrit wasn't optimistic about her chances of competing with commercial products. Still, seeing her hopeful expression, he refrained from discouraging her.

After all…

It was kind of endearing that she was doing this for him—or rather, for his money. Thinking back to his past life and this one, it wasn't often that a girl went out of her way for him. He couldn't help but feel a little smug about it.

After clearing the clutter, Jehfrit was already drenched in sweat.

He looked up at Mira, who carried stone dumbbells in each hand, moving briskly back and forth without breaking a sweat.

Did she really need help?

"Tired?" Mira asked with a smile.

"Yeah," Jehfrit admitted without hesitation.

"It's about time for lunch. Rest for a bit while I cook," Mira said warmly.

"Mm," Jehfrit lay back on the swing as Miko gently pushed him.

"Have some water and snacks," Mira said, bringing over a tray.

On the tray was a glass of plain water and several colorful pastries of different shapes.

"Did you make these?" Jehfrit asked.

"Mm, try them," Mira encouraged.

"Do they have filling?"

"Of course."

Jehfrit picked one up and took a bite. It was soft, chewy, and non-sticky, with a tangy-sweet center.

Delicious!

"Mm~" Jehfrit gave a thumbs-up.

"Take your time. I'll go finish cooking," Mira said with a smile before heading back inside.

"Miko, try one," Jehfrit said.

Miko elegantly picked one up, examining the soft pastry in her hands. "Miss Mira is so gentle, capable, and hardworking."

"Yeah."

"But I still prefer Tiffany," Miko added.

"Why?" Jehfrit glanced at her.

Miko grinned playfully. "I'm afraid she'll steal my job."

"You're overthinking it," Jehfrit chuckled.

"…" Miko gave a faint smile.

Jehfrit, I am a girl too, I know all about traps used to catch boys.

But.

Miko stayed silent, taking a bite of the pastry.

'Too much sugar…'

Jehfrit sprawled on the swing, gazing aimlessly at the clouds until the aroma of cooking wafted through the air, making his mouth water.

He got up and headed straight for the kitchen.

When he reached the dining room, he paused.

The kitchen was filled with the fragrant scent of cooking. Mira was busy at work, her apron tied around her waist, accentuating her graceful figure.

Without realizing it, one might feel a strange illusion—as if they had married a beautiful and capable wife, filling them with pride and joy.

Jehfrit shook his head and walked over.

Mira was stir-frying eggplant and minced meat. Compared to bread-based meals, pickled dishes, or light and minimalistic cuisines, Jehfrit preferred hearty dishes like twice-cooked pork, braised pork belly, mapo tofu, and stewed pig knuckles.

Sensing Jehfrit approach, Mira turned her head, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear with her pinky. Smiling, she asked, "Hungry, Jehfrit?"

"Hungry. But since it's just the two of us, no need for too many dishes. After working all morning, I could easily eat two bowls of rice with just a plate of fish-flavored shredded pork," Jehfrit said.

"Since I'm asking for your help, I can't skimp on treating you well," Mira laughed. "There are two more dishes. Hang in there."

"Alright."

"Or you could help?"

"With what?"

"Next up is shredded potatoes stir-fried with meat."

"Okay."

Jehfrit grabbed a potato and a peeler, squatting by the trash bin to peel.

Mira glanced at him, noticing how focused he was. A faint smile crossed her lips. "Jehfrit."

"Hmm?" Jehfrit looked up.

"How does it feel like I've dragged a high-and-mighty prince down to become a househusband?" Mira teased.

Jehfrit observed her skilled cooking movements and smiled. "I feel like I've pulled a celestial maiden from the heavens down to cook for me."

"I'm no celestial maiden. Just an ordinary girl," Mira said.

"And I'm no prince," Jehfrit replied. "But I am nobility."

"Oh~" Mira drawled sarcastically. "Then where is your grand—estate, noble sir?"

"I'll earn it back sooner or later!" Jehfrit emphasized.

"When you do, will you let me visit?"

"Sure, but admission costs extra."

"I don't have any money," Mira pouted. "But I still want to see your grand—estate. Can't you make an exception?"

"I'll give you a shortcut," Jehfrit grinned. "Just apply for a job as a chef or maid. Then you can come in for free."

"Not a bad idea. I'll reserve a position ahead of time," Mira laughed.

"Great. Five hundred J a week, room and board included."

"Greedy noble!" Mira widened her eyes, her indignant expression adorable.

"Haha."

Five dishes and one soup.

For two people, it was quite a feast.

After finishing the meal, Jehfrit began to feel drowsy.

During vacations, he always liked to take a nap.

Seeing him sluggish and lethargic, Mira shook her head with a sigh. "It's pretty sunny outside. Why don't you rest for a bit? Take a nap or something."

"Sounds good!" Jehfrit agreed enthusiastically.

"Will the couch do?"

"I'd prefer a bed."

"Then sleep in my bed?"

"Not impossible."

*Bang.*

Mira responded with a firm and heavy slam of the door.

*Click.*

The door cracked open slightly, revealing a slender, pale arm clutching a blanket, which was tossed out before the door slammed shut again.

"…"

Jehfrit picked up the blanket and lay down on the sofa.

He covered himself.

A pleasant fragrance wafted over.

It smelled wonderful, comforting, and incredibly sleep-inducing. ZZZZZ.

Jehfrit's eyelids twitched.

He opened his eyes groggily, staring at the unfamiliar yet vaguely familiar ceiling above him.

"Jehfrit, wipe your face," Miko immediately handed him a warm towel.

"Oh, this is Mira's house," Jehfrit said.

His memories slowly returned.

He sat up, holding the towel and spacing out.

Miko glanced out the window. Mira was outside, digging with a hoe. She planned to replace the top layer of soil in the yard with the purchased soil—the seller claimed it produced larger, sweeter fruits.

Miko didn't disturb Jehfrit, choosing instead to quietly crouch beside him and space out alongside him.

About five or six minutes passed.

Jehfrit finally came fully awake.

The towel in his hand had cooled, but Miko touched it, warming it up again.

Jehfrit wiped his face and stretched lazily.

"Ahh—what a good nap."

"What time is it?" he asked.

"Almost dinner time," Miko replied.

"??" Jehfrit looked out the window.

He saw Mira bathed in golden sunset light, diligently working.

He quickly got up and awkwardly walked outside.

"Why didn't you wake me?"

"You looked so peaceful," Mira straightened up and smiled. "Was it because my couch was so comfortable, or my blanket so cozy?"

"Both."

"Then feel free to use them again next time."

Jehfrit took the hoe from Mira and continued working. "Take a break for a while."

"Alright, thank you," Mira laughed.
