"I hate Heavy Trap Decks the most."
Saying this, Hayato ultimately became the very thing he hated most. Looking at his three Set Cards, Hayato ended his Turn.
[Hayato: 4000 LP, Hand 0]
[Set Card] x3
"My Turn, Draw!"
Drawing a Card, Duke Devlin couldn't help but smile. "Destiny is on my side, Hayato! I can already see victory waving at me!"
"Heaven's will favors me defeating you and punishing you! The future is already in my hands!" Duke Devlin activated the Card he had just drawn. "I activate the Spell Card, [Limiter Removal]!"
A speedometer-like dial appeared on Duke Devlin's Field. The pointer spun clockwise, ignoring the maximum speed marked on the dial and going beyond it.
"This Card's Effect is to make all Machine-Type Monsters on the Field exceed their safety limits, doubling their ATK." As Duke Devlin explained the Card's Effect, the two Space Fighters on his Field began emitting white smoke, looking as if they were about to explode. "However, as a cost, all Machine-Type Monsters will be Destroyed at the end of my Turn."
[Vic Viper T301] [ATK 1200 → 2400]
[Option Token] [ATK 1200 → 2400]
"Two Monsters with 2400 ATK?! This is bad, Hayato's Field is completely empty right now!" Tristan looked at Hayato worriedly, but found that Hayato had a confident expression on his face.
Duke Devlin didn't notice this. The victory within reach made him incredibly excited. "Both of my Monsters will launch a Direct Attack on you! Drink the bitter taste of defeat, you despicable King of Games!"
First to act was [Vic Viper T301]. Although it was a fighter jet designed for space combat, [Vic Viper T301] wasn't equipped with any long-range firepower. It simply increased the thrust from its rear nozzles and crashed towards Hayato.
Then, Duke Devlin watched in disappointment as five Cards blocked Hayato.
"Hmph, reckless and foolish. You think you can defeat me with just this level of attack? You don't take me seriously at all." Hayato said, flipping his Set Card. "The Effect of [Power Wall] reduces the Damage I take from one attack to zero. However, as a cost, for every 500 points of Damage, I must send one Card from my Deck to the Graveyard."
Skillfully sending several Cards from the top of his Deck to the Graveyard, Hayato continued, "Then, because it was Sent from the Deck to the Graveyard, the Monster I just sent also has an Effect that can be activated."
After completely absorbing the impact of [Vic Viper T301], the five Cards that blocked Hayato fell into the Graveyard. But immediately after, one Card returned to Hayato's Field, and a huge [Revival Golem] appeared out of nowhere.
[Revival Golem] [DEF 2100]
"[Revival Golem]'s Effect can be activated when it's Sent from the Deck to the Graveyard. I can choose to add it back to my Hand, or Special Summon it from the Graveyard to my Field."
"But [Option Token] hasn't attacked yet!" Duke Devlin said unhappily, commanding the [Option Token] on his Field to crash into the [Revival Golem] that had only been out for a few seconds, in the same manner as [Vic Viper T301].
This time, it couldn't revive from the Graveyard again. But it successfully protected Hayato from taking Damage from two attacks.
Duke Devlin frowned, annoyed at his carelessness. Attacking too eagerly had allowed Hayato to escape. "Set Card. My Turn ends."
As soon as he finished speaking, there were two "bang" sounds. Both fighter jets on Duke Devlin's Field simultaneously self-destructed due to overload and excessive operation. After one Turn of mutual attacks, both Fields were empty.
[Duke Devlin: 4000 LP, Hand 0]
[Set Card]
"Yosh! Hayato's chance has come!" Joey Wheeler, with a dog head perched on his own, excitedly leaned over the railing. Just as he was about to say something more, he noticed Duke Devlin glance over at him and casually threw a Dice, hitting Joey Wheeler right on the bridge of his nose. "Ow!"
"I don't recall allowing you to speak, Dog Jounouchi." Looking at Joey Wheeler with disdain, Duke Devlin toyed with a Dice in his hand, as if he would throw it at Joey Wheeler if he did anything else that displeased him.
"Wow, so cool!"
"He's so manly!"
"Lord Devlin!"
It wasn't just Hayato and Yugi Mutou who saw this scene. There were many people gathered around the edge of the Duel Field, and most of them noticed one of the Duelists throwing a Dice outside the Field.
What surprised Yugi Mutou and Tristan was that despite Duke Devlin's nasty behavior, many of his fans didn't feel any ill will towards him. Instead, they were incredibly excited, as if Duke Devlin had done something remarkably cool.
"Tch, so your fans are running a fandom? Disgusting." Hayato said, annoyed.
"Hmph, as the founder of Dungeon Dice Monsters, receiving this level of worship and adoration is just the basic minimum. No, I should say, 'it should be this way'."
Duke Devlin smiled and lifted his bangs with his hand, but when he lowered it, his expression turned fierce. "If it weren't for you, if it weren't for Yugi Mutou, I would be the one receiving the most attention!"
"I, the Genius Game Designer, spent so many years designing and completing Dungeon Dice Monsters, and even gained Lord Pegasus's appreciation! I should have officially signed with Industrial Illusions after Duelist Kingdom ended and become widely known as the founder and first champion of Dungeon Dice Monsters!"
"It's all because of you two! You used some despicable means to defeat Mr. Pegasus. I will definitely get my Revenge!"
Looking at the emotional Duke Devlin, Hayato shook his head dismissively and drew a Card. "My Turn, Draw!"
"Hayato!" Duke Devlin glared at Hayato across from him, gritting his teeth as he spoke. "Are you too scared to respond to me because I spoke the truth?!"
"Hmph, don't misunderstand, idiot." Hayato glanced at the Card he drew and said coldly, "My and Yugi Mutou's appearance disrupted your plan for the future? Is that some kind of ridiculous excuse for you to do something like hurting my friend?"
"Don't make me laugh, you fool!"
Hayato stared directly at Duke Devlin. "The world doesn't revolve around you alone. How could the variables of the future be fixed by your personal ideas?"
"What happened with Pegasus has nothing to do with us. I have no interest in explaining it in detail to clarify things, and becoming the target of your Revenge is also boring." Hayato placed the Card he had just drawn onto the Duel Platform. "What I want to do right now is simply teach you a lesson!"
"Come forth, my Tamashii, **[Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight]**!!!"
Although it's a Dark Knight, it's an EARTH Attribute monster. Even with the "Swift" prefix added, it only becomes a DARK Attribute monster. [Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight] was drawn into Hayato's Hand. Since he only had this one monster in his Hand, Hayato was able to easily Summon it without any Tributes!
[Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight] [ATK 2300]
