Chapter 209: Gambling Deck

Chapter 209: Gambling Deck

"It's Hayato's Gaia The Fierce Knight! Alright!" Tristan seemed very excited. "Duke Devlin currently has an empty field, and if Hayato's Attack succeeds, he can reduce his Life Points by half in one go!"

Yugi Mutou, however, shook his head. "No, Duke Devlin still has a Set Card in his Back Row. We must remain vigilant."

However, Hayato seemed as if he hadn't noticed that Set Card. He waved his hand forward: "Gaia The Fierce Knight, Direct Attack Duke Devlin, Spiral Spear Strike!"

The lance, wrapped in a conical whirlwind formed by strong airflow, surged towards Duke Devlin. Facing the Direct Attack launched by Hayato's Monster, Duke Devlin, however, calmly flipped open his Set Card: "You fell for it, Kobayashi Hayato! I activate Sakuretsu Armor!"

"Watch as your ace Monster, Gaia The Fierce Knight, is pointlessly destroyed because of your own recklessness!"

"It's Sakuretsu Armor? Then my Gaia The Fierce Knight is dead again?" Hayato's face had just shown a surprised expression, then his expression changed again. "As if! You fool clearly doesn't understand the curse on this Sakuretsu Armor card that makes it 'forever ineffective'."

"I flip my Set Card, Impenetrable Attack! It can only be activated during the Battle Phase, and I choose one of its Effects to activate!"

Hayato flipped one of his two Set Cards. It was precisely Impenetrable Attack, which he had used in his Duel against Maximillion Pegasus. This very card had protected the Blue-Eyes White Dragon that was Special Summoned to Hayato's field at the time from being destroyed.

"I choose its first Effect: Target one of my Monsters, making it unable to be destroyed by battle or card effects during this Battle Phase!" Hayato commanded. "Meet it head-on, Gaia The Fierce Knight!"

A laser beam shot out from the Sakuretsu Armor that Duke Devlin had flipped, surging towards Gaia The Fierce Knight. But he seemed not to have seen it, his charging speed not decreasing in the slightest. Just as the laser was about to hit, a ray of light shot out from behind Gaia The Fierce Knight and intercepted the laser.

"Excellent support!" The Pharaoh watched as Gaia The Fierce Knight pierced Duke Devlin with his lance, nodding in approval. Duelists believe in their Cards, and the Cards respond to the Duelists' call; Monsters trust their Duelists, and the Duelists also protect their Monsters.

[Duke Devlin: 4000→1700 LP]

Hayato: "My Turn ends."

[Hayato: 4000 LP, Hand 0]

Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight [ATK 2300]

[Set Card]

"Heh heh, where's all that confidence from when you were bragging just now, Duke Devlin?" Hayato, with 0 Cards in his Hand, crossed his arms over his chest, watching Duke Devlin, who was slightly hunched over from the pain. Although on the surface this Duel seemed quite ordinary, Hayato stood to lose more in terms of the Stake.

However, Hayato had secretly added something extra to Gaia The Fierce Knight's Attack just now. He supplied some Dark Energy to Gaia The Fierce Knight, making the previous Attack possess a certain degree of real-world Damage capability. Although it wouldn't cause physical wounds, the sensation of pain would be left entirely for Duke Devlin to slowly savor.

Although he knew Duke Devlin would later awaken and repent, that didn't mean Hayato would indulge this guy in bullying Joey Wheeler. He couldn't bring himself to inflict overly severe Damage, but at least he could make him suffer a little.

"My Turn, Draw." Because he felt an unexpectedly intense pain, Duke Devlin's hand trembled slightly as he drew a Card. "I activate the Spell Card, Card of Fate!"

After activating the Card he had just drawn, a Dice appeared in Duke Devlin's hand. "This Card's Effect is to roll a Dice, draw cards from the Deck equal to the result, then Banish cards from the top of the Deck equal to the result."

"Without a doubt, Destiny is on my side!" Saying this, he threw the Dice in his hand. The Dice spun around on the field, and when it finally stopped, it showed the highest number, 6.

"Tch, lucky you."

Ignoring Hayato's envious gaze, Duke Devlin drew six Cards from his Deck, and then Banished six Cards from the game. "Kobayashi Hayato, Destiny has given me Guidance in everything! You are destined to fall by my hand and descend into endless darkness!"

"I activate the Spell Card, Dice Re-Roll! I pay 1000 Life Points and roll a Dice, then apply the Effect based on the result!"

[Duke Devlin: 1700→700 LP]

Watching Duke Devlin roll another Dice, Yugi Mutou, watching from the sidelines, frowned deeply. Tristan noticed this and asked, "What's wrong, Yugi?"

"That Deck Duke Devlin is using seems to be a Gambling Deck," Yugi Mutou explained to Tristan. "Although it carries significant risk, that risk is accompanied by immense reward. It's a Deck where, just like gambling, you either win big or lose everything."

"Furthermore, Duke Devlin's Gambling Deck seems to be a Dice-focused type, similar to Monster Dragon Gate Dice. For him, who is skilled at using Dice, he can probably easily control what numbers he rolls."

"Doesn't that mean he can activate whatever Effect he wants? That's a bit like cheating!" Tristan looked towards the field with concern. The Dice that Duke Devlin had just rolled stopped, and as expected, it showed a six again.

"When the rolled number is 5 or 6, the Effect of Dice Re-Roll is that I can Special Summon 1 Monster Level 5 or higher from my Hand!"

Saying this, Duke Devlin drew a Card from his Hand and Summoned it. "Cruel ultimate warrior, Attack the despicable person before me!"

"Orgoth the Relentless!"

A Monster quite familiar to everyone present appeared on Duke Devlin's field. Its muscular, robust body, sturdy full plate armor, and the greatsword in its hand. It was none other than Orgoth the Relentless, which had delivered the final blow to Joey Wheeler in the previous Monster Dragon Gate Dice game!

[Orgoth the Relentless] [Level 7/EARTH Attribute]

[Warrior-Type/Effect]

[2500/2450]

"Most of the Monsters in Monster Dragon Gate Dice are made from Duel Monsters authorized by Mr. Pegasus, but only this Orgoth the Relentless is an original Monster unique to Monster Dragon Gate Dice." Duke Devlin looked at Orgoth the Relentless and said to Hayato. "He is the Avatar of my rage! Face the ultimate power, you despicable King of Games!"

"I activate Orgoth the Relentless's Effect! Roll the Dice 3 times, and this card's ATK and DEF increase by the sum of the results × 100 until the End of Opponent's Turn!"

Duke Devlin rolled three more Dice. However, perhaps because the number of Dice increased, he also started to lose precise control over the results. This time, only one Dice was a six, and the other two were twos.

[Orgoth the Relentless] [ATK 2500→3500]

"Then, from my Hand, I activate the Spell Card, Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce! I Send one card from my Hand to the Graveyard and Equip this Card to Orgoth the Relentless!"

Orgoth the Relentless grabbed the greatsword in its hand and tore it. The massive sword was ripped apart as if it were bread, transforming into two relatively smaller longswords. However, its ATK decreased as a result.

[Orgoth the Relentless] [ATK 3500→3000]

"Oh no, this is bad!" Yugi Mutou recognized the Card Duke Devlin had just activated. Although he saw Orgoth the Relentless's ATK decrease, he called out to Hayato with some concern. "Hayato, you absolutely must block this Attack!"

"Oh? As expected of the King of Games, your knowledge is far richer than that of my loyal dog." Duke Devlin showed a smug smile on his face. "Twin Swords of Flashing Light - Tryce may decrease a Monster's ATK, but it also grants the equipped Monster the right to Attack Twice!"

"Go, Orgoth the Relentless! Destroy Gaia The Fierce Knight, then launch a Direct Attack on Kobayashi Hayato!"
