The next ten minutes, Morgan asked Julie questions about the hospital, her life and all.
"Did you really hurt your head?" Julie asked in concern."
"No, I didn't." She replied.
"It's just that, currently, I don't want to stress myself remembering things, it hurts me." She placed her hand on her head and groaned dramatically.
"But there are things I don't remember. I fear that something is wrong," she began, willing herself to cry so she could earn pity from Julie.
"I'm sorry about that," Julie placed her hand on her shoulder and pulled her closer. Morgan buried her head in her shoulders.
"It's fine."
"We can tell the doctor. Your brothers will do anything just to ensure that you get the best treatment and everything will be back to normal." She paused and continued, "You know what, I'll just call him in right now."
"No," Morgan said, raising her head and wiping off the fake tears.
She looked around, "For now, let's keep this between us. I don't want to worry them. It may not be anything serious. And even if it is, I have you."
"But there's nothing I can do."
"You can do a lot." From what she's gathered, Julie knows so much about Ivanna.
"You can remind me whenever I forget anything. Is that fine with you?'
Julie nodded, not thinking too much about it. She would do anything for Ivanna.
Morgan sighed in relief. Now she's crossed that hurdle.
Ding!
[Congratulations, you've finished your additional task.]
[You've been rewarded with +4 charm]
[New title unlocked.]
[Charming Manipulator.]
[Reminder: You have 1 hour and 40 minutes to leave the hospital.]
Morgan gritted her teeth, she had almost forgotten about the main task.
Sigh!
She should get to it. She couldn't outrightly tell them that she wanted to leave, would they allow her?
She felt better because of the healing boosts she had earlier received.
"I've been here for a long time. I'll allow you to get some rest," Julie stood ready to leave. But Morgan stopped her.
She turned to Morgan, then looked at their hand. Morgan slowly freed herself from her hold.
"Julie, you can't leave. The reporters will be here in a moment. I have to leave."
"You never said anything about not asking for her help, besides, she is my friend," Morgan said to the system.
[Ding! You can ask for her help. Villains aren't meant to stand alone at all times.]
"There are no reporters," Julie said.
There are none yet, but Morgan knows that they will be soon. She wished she could complete the task on time, so maybe it won't be bad to leave now, before the reporters arrive.
"Liam exposed my location, they will be here soon," She said.
"Let's go before they arrive. I'll ask your brothers if they can-"
"No, they don't need to know." Morgan cut her short
"Okay, the doctor…"
Oh, fuck, the doctor had to clear her first.
Just then, the door opened, and Jeremy walked in. Beside him was Slade.
What horrible timing.
Kyle and Gabriel had left to handle some business with the promise of returning.
"How are you feeling now?" Jeremy asked, walking closer to her bed, he dropped himself in her bed, seated beside her, while Slade stood beside Julie, staring at Morgan from behind the mask.
"I'm better now," she replied in a flat tone. Well, she wasn't going to allow them to stand in her way. She could still see the timer.
She has less time as each second passes.
"Well, I'll get the doctor," Julie said and walked out, leaving Morgan with Slade and Jeremy.
"I'm sorry for the scene I caused earlier." Jeremy apologises, "I should not have said that, it wasn't considerate."
"Said what?" Morgan asked, trying to remember what he said, but she couldn't.
"About Slade," he bit his lower lips, "you know… about him being a wrong choice." Slade crossed his hand over his chest and stared at them. He was surprised to hear Jeremy apologise.
Jeremy had refused to apologise to him earlier when Gabriel asked him to, but now he was here doing just that.
But then, this was Ivanna, and with Ivanna things were always different.
"Oh, that… I have forgotten about it." Morgan said without interest. She adjusted, creating space between them.
She looked behind Jeremy to Slade. The light in the room reflected in his mask. He is touching the ring on his finger.
"I don't really care about what you think about Masks." She stated matter-of-factly. She doesn't know him, he was Ivanna's husband, not hers.
Well, he was her husband, but she doesn't care.
Slade, on the other hand,, felt his heart flutter.
He smiled; she didn't care what they thought. She loved him, that's all that mattered.
Before the accident, he had not spent so much time with her. He liked her, but he wasn't in love with her then; he had married her to fulfil the wish of his dying grandma, but since the accident, things had changed.
Partly because he blamed himself since she had gotten into the accident on her way to see him. Or maybe it was the fear of losing her. Either way, what she just said made him smile.
"I'm also sorry, Ivanna, I should have held myself back from speaking." His voice is deep, and his usually cold eyes soften when he looks at her.
"Hmm." That was her only reply before she turned her attention to Jeremy.
Ding!
[Reminder: you have 1 hour, 10 minutes to complete the task.]
"I need to leave," She said.
"Why? You sure better yet."
"I am."
"We'll wait for the doctor to check you first."
"It's my body and I know what I feel." She placed her leg on the floor. She didn't know what to take along, but she had to leave.
"Okay, let's hear what the doctor has to say first." She is now seated on the bed. Slade said.
"I don't want to wait." She didn't want to spend another minute waiting. She wished she could tell them she was okay, but she can't tell them about the system.
She needs to leave before the reporters arrive.
"Let's do what she wants. I'll take you home." Slade said, giving in. But Jeremy would not have it.
"No, I won't have my sick sister leave without proper care."
Morgan scoffed and rolled her eyes.
Ding!
[Villains don't roll eyes, they roll plot into motion.]
You don't tell me what to roll now? I'm on the verge of failing this task.
Ding!
[Tsk tsk. You don't sound too confident.]
Morgan began to wonder if the system was here to help her or make things worse.
"My wife leaves if she wants. You can't stop her. Besides, she has me." Slade said.
"She's my sister before she's your wife."
Slade lets out a cold laugh which could send shivers down anyone's spine.
But Morgan was too immersed in her thoughts to care.
They both love her, while one wants her to do what she wants, the other wants to ensure she gets the treatment she needs.
"You think so, let's ask her." They both returned their attention to Morgan, who was biting on her fingers, deep in thought.
"Ivy, what do you say?"
She gritted her teeth, "Can you both shut it? Can't you see I'm trying to think?" she snapped. She closed her eyes to steady her thoughts.
Ding!
[System notification: Congratulations, you earned +5 charm for being snappy. Sweetheart, you learn fast.]
The reward brightened her mood a little.
She was still here because she was waiting for Julie. Once Julie returns, she will leave without the consent of the doctor if she has to. She didn't care about what both men thought. One minute they were apologising and getting along, and the next, they were at each other's throats.
Both men were surprised at her tone. Ivanna was usually calm and would never raise her voice.
But they brushed it off. She was not in the best mood.
"I'm sorry, it mustb e tiring to be here in the hospital. Here maybe if you-"
Julie opened the door, cutting Jeremy short. She stepped inside and announced, "Ivy, you're right, reporters are outside."
