Broken

The ride was quiet. As they arrived, Kallin made sure to keep a good distance from Elias and the rest. He watched from the shadows as Elias helped the children, but he dared not step forward.

 Childhood to others was a memory they dared not let go of—one they wished to revisit. But he was not them. Other than pain, regret, and countless torture... what other memories did his childhood have?

But Kallin did not stop Maya from helping. He watched her have fun, laugh, and joke with others. It was refreshing to see her at ease. But then, like all good times, it did come to an end, and they returned to the palace.

Kallin was first to step down from the carriage, and Elias followed with Lior. He, too, had fun, and the children enjoyed making him smile and giggle. The young prince was tired and sleeping.

"Thanks for today." Kallin bowed and walked away. Elias had questions. He wanted to offer help, but the time was not right.
