Chapter 2: Rebirth

"Ah!" Camille sat up with a loud gasp. Her face was pale, and she was sweating.

"What just happened?" She asked herself while looking around, finding the environment to be familiar.

"Isn't this my room?" Confusion washed over her face as she wondered what she was doing in her room.

"I thought I died, then what am I doing here?" Camille muttered to herself, dread washing over her.

"Am I dreaming? I should be dreaming, the flames were too real, perhaps, my soul wants to relive happy memories before finally leaving this world," Camille mumbled, firmly believing it to be the case.

With these random thoughts, she exited her bed. Her hands traced the vanity table with a smile on her face. It was a gift her mom got for her just a few days before her death.

Camille looked at her room with a smile, memories of her room before it was stolen rushed to her.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Camille was dumbfounded when she heard the sound.

"Should I still hear a knock?" Camille questioned, but regardless, she opened the door.

"Camille, you are up early, I had thought I would have to knock continuously at your door," Cleo was the one at the door.

Camille frowned, finding the situation to be weirdly familiar.

'I swear, I have experienced this situation before,' Camille thought to herself, while staring at Cleo who had a bright smile on her face.

'Why are you staring at me that way? Do I have something on my face?" Cleo asked, touching her face.

"What is today's date?" Camille suddenly had a bold theory, and she wanted to confirm it.

"21st of May. Why are you asking?" Cleo eyed Camille, giving her a strange look.

Camille took a step back in disbelief. She swallowed before asking again, "what year?"

"2023." Cleo replied, wondering while Camille was asking weird questions.

'Could I have been reborn?' Camille conjured up a crazy thought, and her face turned pale when the thought flashed through her mind.

"What's wrong with you?" Cleo asked, trying to take Camille's hands into hers.

But Camille took a step back, "I'm fine, I just thought about something, and I was stunned."

"Care to tell me what's wrong with you?" Cleo asked.

Camille looked at the girl who was responsible for her accident in her past life, and an insurmountable amount of rage burned through her.

"I am fine. I don't need your help," Camille snapped.

"Fine, I was just worried about you, I only came here to tell you that breakfast is ready," Cleo sneered, still pondering on why Camille's attitude was different.

"I'll be right there," Camille replied, taking a deep breath.

Cleo gave her one last look, before leaving her room.

Camille, on the other hand, fell to the ground, her heart reeling in shock.

"Have I really been reborn? But how is this possible?" She asked herself.

"Tomorrow is the college examination, the day everything changed for me," Camille muttered to herself.

Recalling what had happened in her past life, she shivered.

All of a sudden, she rose to her feet, determination surging in her heart, "this time around, I will love myself, and I will not allow my brothers to define who I'd be, this time, I would be writing that exam."

A few minutes later, Camille walked to the dining table, a bold expression on her face.

She glanced at her brothers who were seated, and she faltered a bit. But nevertheless, she held her head high, gave them a nonchalant greeting, before taking her seat.

She sighed in her heart while counting down the time till they asked her to give up her spot in the examination.

"Tomorrow is your exam, isn't it?" Asher, her second brother, carefully asked her.

Camille sneered with her head bowed. That was the same question they asked her in her past life. They didn't care if she had been the one studying, instead, they forced her to give up her dreams.

"It is. If you want me to give up my spot so she would be able to pass, then I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but that wouldn't be happening," Camille was quick to reject any of their future questions.

"No. That's not the reason I asked the question, I wanted to know when your exam is so I could accompany you and support you," Asher was quick to explain, while countering her words. His fingers trembled while he stared at Camille with a knowing look.

'She is different,' he thought to himself, and he blinked repeatedly.

Camille and Cleo were shocked by the words as they weren't expecting this.

Cleo turned to look at Asher, and her eyes were filled with tears instantly.

"Asher, Ethan, I thought we talked about this yesterday and you agreed that you would convince her to give up her spot, why the sudden twist?" Cleo couldn't control herself, and thus, she blurted out.

"I don't remember giving you a direct answer, did I? And besides, why should I give in to you? You aren't my sister, or are you?" Asher scoffed at Cleo's delusion. He felt disgusted by her presence and audacity.

Camille, on the other hand, had her lips parted in surprise. She wasn't expecting this twist, and her eyes narrowed at the two brothers, wondering what they were up to.

"So Camille, I'll be there for your exam tomorrow, no, I will drop you as well," Asher turned to look at Camille with a doting smile.

This time, he was being careful, and he didn't wish to scare her away.

"Cam, I apologize that I won't be able to make it to your exam," Ethan, the first son apologized, causing Camille to be taken aback.

She was also dumbfounded by the apologetic look in his eyes, and she had no idea how she was to respond.

Camille blinked. The entire situation made her doubt her mentality, and she wondered if she actually transmigrated into a parallel universe.

She stared intently at her two brothers, and she could confirm that they were the real ones. She had been the one who was reborn, but why were the acting strange.

"If you say so, but remember, I didn't force you, you can't blame me for anything which happens," Camille murmured.

She didn't believe that her two brothers were changed people. To her, she felt that they had actually laid out a trap for her, and were waiting patiently for her to fall into it.

Too bad, she wasn't the same person as she was. She was reborn, and she knew what would happen if she constantly gave in to them.

While the siblings were discussing, Cleo stood on the side, hands clenched with fury.

She glared at the siblings, taking a deep breath while vowing to the brothers later. Perhaps, they were only pulling Camille's legs.

After breakfast, the two brothers visited their study.

They had their seats, staring straight into each other's eyes.

Different thoughts flashed through their minds, but they settled on just one thing.

"You were reborn." They said simultaneously.
