The Sun-Lightning Knight's Companions (Bonus Chapter)

Derick reached out with the Lance of Divine Retribution, and the spear embedded in Aquila's eye broke free, flying back into his hand.

With the long spear brutally torn from its eyeball, the pain was imaginable. Aquila's long, slender neck thrashed violently in agony.

It swung its left wing at Derick, and a barrage of fireballs hurtled towards him.

Seeing the fireballs approach, Polyxia shouted, "Derick, hold on tight!"

With that, she began to flip and weave agilely in mid-air, dodging the fiery attacks.

Passing through the curtain of fireballs, Derick came face to face with Aquila.

Standing before it, Derick's own body seemed minuscule. But within that small frame resided an immense power.

Seeing that the fireballs from its left wing hadn't hit Derick, Aquila immediately flapped its right wing. The massive wing completely blocked Derick's view, and from within it, a curtain of fire erupted, enveloping his surroundings entirely.

"Derick, what should we do?" Polyxia asked him.

"Of course, we charge through!"

"Alright!"

Polyxia followed Derick's command, flapping her wings and charging straight ahead.

Derick held the Lance of Divine Retribution, pointing it forward, looking for all the world like a knight charging at Aquila.

The difference in their sizes was even greater than Don Quixote's charge against the windmill in Derick's past life. It looked like a hopeless assault, but during the charge, the forms of Derick and Polyxia were wreathed in the energy of the Titan of Discord, becoming like a giant spear that pierced towards Aquila's right wing.

Below, Castorice, Cipher, and Hyacine had been incredibly worried when they saw Derick enveloped in the sea of fire. But upon seeing him and Polyxia launch such a charge, their worry turned to excitement.

"Derry-boy, Poli-girl, go for it! Pierce right through that Aquila!" Cipher shouted loudly at them.

"Derick, defeat it!" Castorice also clenched her fists, cheering him on.

"Derry, go for it!"

The sea of fire was split down the middle. Derick's charge slammed violently into Aquila's right wing.

Golden light and flames clashed for an instant.

Then, the curtain of fire was snapped in two. Derick, with Polyxia, pierced through Aquila's wing.

Aquila's long neck began to thrash violently in pain. It even wanted to swing its head to smash into Derick. But just as it was about to hit them, Aquila realized it couldn't expose its head to the enemy and quickly pulled back, distancing itself from Derick's potential attack.

Seeing Aquila's wing move out of his attack range, a look of regret appeared on Derick's face.

This fellow may have lost most of its sanity, but its combat instincts are still there. If it didn't even have that much sense, dealing with it would be much smoother.

Aquila moved its head, and the halo above it shone with a dazzling light. A meteor shower of fireballs rained down from the sky, engulfing not only Derick, who was near its wing, but also Castorice and the others on the side.

Derick glanced towards Castorice's group.

Castorice swung her scythe, and a purple light appeared in her hand. She said to Hyacine, "Hyacine, get behind me."

"Mhm." Hyacine didn't hesitate, obediently hiding behind Castorice.

As for Cipher, she had long since dodged to a safer area with her agility.

Seeing that they were fine, Derick felt more at ease to attack Aquila. The falling fireballs were dodged by Polyxia. As they neared Aquila's head, the fireballs became too dense for Polyxia to dodge, and Derick swung the Lance of Divine Retribution to block them.

His lance once again struck Aquila's head hard.

Aquila suffered another heavy blow, a wound several meters wide exploding on its skull. It was so close; another attack like that and its neck would have been severed.

It hastily swung its left wing, wreathed in flames, towards Derick. Seeing this, Derick had no choice but to turn his spear and attack its wing. The long spear pierced Aquila's left wing, and Derick tore it open, ripping off a huge piece.

But seizing this opportunity, Aquila's entire form quickly entered the tapestry and flew into the distance.

Although Derick wielding the power of Nikador within its domain infuriated it, under the force of Derick's attacks, Aquila still chose to flee.

Watching Aquila's departing figure, Derick naturally wouldn't let it go so easily.

Holding the Lance of Divine Retribution, he wanted to give chase again. Polyxia naturally coordinated with him, flapping her wings, preparing to pursue once more.

After chasing for a distance, Derick still hadn't caught up to Aquila. At that moment, a creature flying in mid-air, a mix of black and ochre yellow, blocked their path.

A memory? But it still has the aura of life? And, it has a very strong Black Tide aura on it.

Seeing this creature, Derick thought to himself.

The creature saw Derick and charged at him. Its power, though not comparable to Aquila's, was not weak.

With its interference, Derick really couldn't continue his pursuit of Aquila.

"Since you've come to block my way, then I'll make an example of you!"

Derick said to it, thrusting the Lance of Divine Retribution towards it.

Polyxia was also very angry at this creature for suddenly interrupting her and Derick's chase. She opened her draconic maw and unleashed her breath attack at the creature.

Derick's spear attacks were like the wind, and Polyxia's breath was incredibly aggressive. Although the creature's strength was not weak, under their combined assault, it was quickly put at a disadvantage.

"Get down!"

Derick's spear viciously struck its back, causing its whole body to buckle. Polyxia seized the opportunity, extending her two front claws and grabbing the creature firmly.

Derick raised the Lance of Divine Retribution, about to pierce it.

Just at that moment, a flying pegasus memory appeared beside him.

"You, the demigod who inherited the power of the Titan of Discord, I ask you to show mercy," it said to Derick.

Hearing this, Derick's attack didn't slow in the slightest.

What is this thing! You come out and tell me to show mercy, and I'm supposed to show mercy?

Do you have the right?

But at that moment, Hyacine called out to Derick from the ground.

"Derry, wait a moment. They… they seem to be the winged beast companions who fought alongside my ancestor. There must be a reason for them to be here."

Derick had to listen to Hyacine's words. Besides, Aquila had already escaped. He might as well ask these two for information.

So Derick changed his move. The Lance of Divine Retribution went from a thrust to a sweep. The shaft of the spear struck the winged beast's back, knocking it to the ground.

"You, get down there too," Derick said, looking at the pegasus.

Looking at Derick's handsome but exceptionally fierce demeanor, and his strength that surpassed even the Sun-ember Knight, the pegasus naturally didn't dare to disobey and obediently followed Derick down.

After they landed, Hyacine first looked at Derick and Polyxia. "Derry, Poli, are you two alright?"

"We're fine," Derick shook his head.

Seeing they were unharmed, Hyacine felt relieved. She then walked towards the winged beast that Derick had just thrown to the ground.

As she walked, she introduced them, "They are the winged beast companions of my ancestor, the Sun-ember Knight. The one you just knocked down is called Solabis, and the pegasus is called Lunabis."

Cipher asked with confusion, "Then why did Solabis try to stop us when we were attacking Aquila? Was it influenced by the Black Tide?"

"That's not it." Lunabis's tone was about to become arrogant, but seeing Derick silently grip the Lance of Divine Retribution, its tone instantly softened.

"Solabis wasn't trying to stop the attack on Aquila, but the attack on Seneos. Solabis's mind is no longer clear; it is simply acting on the instinct to protect Seneos."

"My… my ancestor Seneos really merged with Aquila?" Hyacine asked Lunabis in surprise.

As she asked in astonishment, she began to heal Solabis. Soon, its injuries and the areas eroded by the Black Tide were cleansed, and it returned to its original memory form.

"Yes, in a sense, she did," Lunabis nodded, then looked at Hyacine doubtfully. "You claim to be a descendant of Seneos, yet you don't have a trace of her bloodline in you."

After saying this, it seemed to remember something, and a look of melancholy appeared in its tone.

"It must be her."

Hyacine, however, didn't mind at all. "After a thousand years of lineage, the blood of Seneos in me must be too diluted to detect. You don't need to consider that for now. Just tell me why my ancestor merged with Aquila."

"Yes, we are also very curious," Derick said with a smile, approaching Solabis.

He didn't have the Trailblazer's ability to summon a 'Mimi' and restore memories. So he could only resort to the most basic method of memory restoration: a good-old-fashioned interrogation.

Solabis saw Derick, especially him cracking his knuckles, and its body couldn't help but tremble.

Solabis said to them, "The reason Seneos merged with Aquila was because she no longer wanted to see the people of the Sky Clan and wanted to destroy the Sky City."

"What!?"

Derick was somewhat surprised.

In all the previous legends, Seneos was the great hero who saved the sky. But now, her companion who had followed her was saying that Seneos had ultimately destroyed the Sky City.

What on earth was the reason for this?

Derick was greatly puzzled.
