Whoosh!
Boom!
Just as a car crashed onto the scene, Alex soared through the air with a powerful leap, covering several meters in a single bound.
He landed like a god of war descending from the heavens.
With a single stomp, he crushed the chest of a nearby special agent.
Bang!
He casually threw a punch at another agent next to him, sending the man flying like a human cannonball straight into the wall.
A splatter of blood burst open.
The man's skull exploded like a watermelon upon impact.
But in truth, he was already dead before his head burst—killed by the sheer force of Alex's blow.
Alex's terrifying strength left the remaining agents frozen in fear.
"Aaaahhh!"
One of them let out a feral roar, gripping his gun tightly and firing at Alex in a panic.
Swish!
But the moment the bullet left the barrel, Alex had already dashed to the side. The bullets hit nothing but air.
Bang!
The next second, the agent felt a tremendous force slam into his body. He was sent flying.
And that was the last thing he ever felt.
His vision went black.
Clang!
A sharp metallic crash rang out—Alex had ripped the car door off the vehicle he'd smashed earlier. He hefted it up like a shield and charged into the agents again.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Gunfire erupted in rapid succession, mixed with screams of pain.
Now armed with a makeshift shield, Alex was even more unstoppable. Even if a stray bullet made it through, the heavy steel door blocked it with ease.
Just like that...
Under a storm of bullets and desperate attacks, Alex tore through the special forces like a beast unleashed—seven times in and out, mowing down everyone in his path.
In just a few short minutes, not a single enemy remained standing.
Everyone, except Alex, had returned to the earth—to greet their dearly departed grandmothers.
"Wade, report back! What's the situation at the scene?"
"Wade, do you copy?!"
"Smith, respond!"
The battlefield fell into silence, save for the frantic voice of Stryker still coming through the agents' earpieces.
Alex chuckled softly. He reached down and grabbed a comm unit from one of the fallen agents.
"Wade's dead," he said flatly. "And you'll be joining him soon enough."
Crack!
Before Stryker could reply, Alex crushed the device in his hand.
---
At the temporary command center...
Stryker's expression turned ashen, as if someone had just slapped him hard across the face.
It was clear now—his entire team had been annihilated.
He had underestimated the enemy.
Alex had already killed Sabretooth, and now even Wade was no match. Stryker had thought he was being cautious enough.
He didn't just send Wade—he sent an elite squad of twenty special agents!
That was a full-force assault team. Overkill, even.
He thought it was foolproof. And yet—how long had it even been?
They were all gone.
Stryker now felt a deep and growing fear of Alex.
It seemed the only hope of defeating him lay in the Weapon X project.
The Weapon X prototype needed to be completed—and fast.
Stryker made up his mind.
But just thinking about it gave him a headache.
At present, there were only two suitable candidates for Weapon X: Logan and Wade.
Wade wasn't a problem—he'd already agreed to the experiment. They could proceed at any time.
Logan, however, was a different story. He'd never agree to the procedure.
And unfortunately, the Weapon X experiment required the subject's willing participation. It couldn't be forced.
Worse still, Logan already had a deep grudge against Stryker. There was no convincing him.
That's why Stryker had devised a long con involving Silver Fox and Sabretooth—trapping Logan into volunteering for the procedure.
But before the plan could even unfold, Sabretooth was already dead.
And now, Wade was gone too!
Stryker was on the verge of losing it.
But now wasn't the time to wallow in frustration.
He quickly ordered the remaining agents to evacuate the temporary command center. There would be time later to clean up this mess—but it was clear he was in for a long, hard road ahead.

Elsewhere...
"Hope I'm not too late."
Alex stripped off his bloodstained coat, muttering under his breath.
Even though the entire fight hadn't taken very long, catching a cab in this era was a nightmare. Who knew how long he'd have to wait?
Not to mention, he'd deliberately chosen an isolated location to "let loose."
Sure, there were still a few unscathed agency vehicles parked along the roadside. Technically, he could drive one.
But he wasn't that dumb.
With so many dead agents—all military special ops, no less—getting caught near the scene in a stolen vehicle was just begging for trouble.
So in the end, Howard Stark would just have to wait.
Playboys like him probably never had to wait for anyone in their lives. Alex figured he was doing the man a favor—giving him a fresh new experience.
He casually tossed the coat aside and turned to leave. But just then, something crossed his mind.
He turned back, picked up the coat again, and walked over to the ruined car he'd used as a makeshift hammer.
The gas tank had long since ruptured, and fuel was leaking all over the ground.
Alex soaked the coat in gasoline.
Then with a quick blast of heat vision—
Fwoosh!
The coat burst into flames.
Done.
No evidence left behind.
At that moment, his enhanced hearing picked up the sound of approaching footsteps.
Without saying a word, Alex activated his super speed and vanished.
He still had a meeting to attend—with Howard Stark.
As for Stryker?
Alex shoved him to the back of his mind for now.
He hadn't unlocked the ability to fly yet, and his super hearing wasn't powerful enough to track Stryker from that distance.
But it wasn't a big deal.
He did know about the island base where Stryker was holding dozens of mutants prisoner.
Once the second Cerebro unit was completed at Xavier's school, finding Stryker would be child's play.
When that time came, he'd wipe out the entire base.
Alex already had it all planned out.
