Chapter 104: A One-Man Rampage Through CIA

The elevator descended at a steady pace.

"Just who are you, really?"

Emma Frost eyed Alex warily, a mix of disbelief and fear in her gaze—like she was staring at something monstrously dangerous.

And she had every reason to feel that way.

From her perspective, the abilities Alex had just displayed were nothing short of insane.

An overwhelming psychic power far beyond her own…

Lethal heat beams from his eyes…

That terrifying speed…

Any one of those powers would make a mutant formidable. Yet this man had all of them.

She had never encountered a mutant this powerful before.

Not even Sebastian Shaw.

In Emma's eyes, Shaw had always been nearly untouchable. But now, even she had to admit—compared to this man, Shaw was no match.

To say nothing of Alex's psychic abilities—those alone could crush Shaw with ease.

"You seriously don't know who he is?"

Mystique chuckled from the side, clearly enjoying the moment. "He's Shaw's worst nightmare. The man Shaw has been trying to kill for ages."

Emma's expression grew strange.

The man who came to rescue her… was actually an enemy?

What a mess.

"Shaw is dead. Whatever reasons we had to be at odds are now irrelevant," Alex said with a shrug, tone casual.

"Shaw is really dead?"

Emma's expression darkened slightly.

When she first met Alex in that special containment cell, he'd said the same thing. She hadn't believed him then.

But now… she was starting to waver.

The certainty was gone.

"It's true. Shaw is dead. Killed by Alex," Raven added.

Emma's eyes dimmed further. If it was him, then killing Shaw… wasn't impossible.

Ding.

With a mechanical chime, the elevator doors clattered open.

"Don't move!"

"Hands where we can see them!"

Shouts rang out sharply.

The lobby outside was packed wall-to-wall with armed agents. Guns raised, safeties off, barrels pointed directly at Alex's group.

Leading them was none other than Director Hansen of the Intelligence Bureau.

Wearing a bulletproof vest and gripping his weapon tightly, Hansen glared at Alex like he was facing a national threat. "Surrender. You're surrounded."

"Emma, could I trouble you to go diamond one more time?"

Alex didn't even look at Hansen. He just turned his head casually toward Emma.

Emma rolled her eyes. "You kill Shaw, and now you want to fight alongside me?"

"Exactly," Alex replied with another shrug. "Shaw's dead. Don't tell me you're still loyal to a corpse."

In the original timeline, Emma ended up siding with Erik after he killed Shaw. So Alex was fairly confident she'd do the same now.

"Besides, it's a friendly suggestion. I doubt you want to catch a stray bullet."

"Well, you've got a point."

Emma didn't bother wasting any more words. Her body shimmered—turning into flawless, impenetrable diamond.

Raven and Copycat immediately moved behind her.

With his flanks protected, Alex no longer had to hold back.

"Surrender now, or we'll open fire!" Hansen barked again, furious that the mutants didn't seem fazed at all.

Whoosh!

Alex didn't even glance at him.

He vanished.

The next thing Hansen felt was a wave of crushing pressure—the violent gusts of wind from someone moving far too fast for the eye to follow.

And then—bang.

Before Hansen could react, a massive force slammed into him.

His body flew through the air like a rag doll, weightless and spinning. He hit the ground hard, bones aching and head spinning.

"What… just happened?"

He staggered, wide-eyed, scanning the room—only to be greeted by a scene of total devastation.

Every agent around him… was down.

Dozens of well-trained Intelligence Bureau operatives had collapsed in the blink of an eye.

All except the four standing in the elevator.

Impossible.

He didn't even see the man move!

Even for a mutant… this was beyond comprehension.

"Over there!"

"It's the Director!"

"Sir! Are you all right?"

Shouts echoed down the hall as reinforcements poured in from both sides—more Bureau agents flooding into the room.

They barely had time to take in the sight before—

Thud! Thud!

One by one, they all dropped. Groans, heavy impacts, bodies hitting the ground in quick succession.

And just like that, they were all out cold—joining their fallen comrades.

"All right. No more interruptions."

Alex dusted off his hands and casually walked forward, like nothing had happened.

Raven, Emma, and Copycat followed closely behind.

They strolled right past Director Hansen and his battered team, completely unfazed.

But suddenly, Alex paused mid-step.

He sensed something.

"Alex? What's wrong?" Raven asked sharply.

Emma and Copycat instantly tensed, scanning the surroundings with caution.

Alex smiled faintly.

"No need to panic. Just… an old friend."

He turned his gaze southeast—staring straight through walls and barriers.

His eyes locked onto someone rapidly approaching the base from outside.

Erik.

And with him—two of his newest recruits: the winged man and the dreadlocked guy he'd recently brought into the fold.

There was no doubt. Erik's goal was also Emma.

Unfortunately for him… he was late.

"Something's wrong," said Owen (the winged mutant), voice low and tense. "I think I heard gunfire just now."

"Relax," Erik replied coolly. "No one's stopping me from rescuing our people today. Whatever's happened inside doesn't change that."

Confident and cold behind his helmet, Erik didn't slow for even a second. His long strides carried him ever closer.

Owen hesitated, clearly still uneasy, but the dreadlocked mutant cut him off.

"Give it a rest, Owen. You're always so nervous. You really think anyone in there can stop Erik?"

They had witnessed Erik's power firsthand. They knew exactly what he was capable of.
