"What took you so long, huh?! Huff! Never mind that, c'mon, I need to get out of this shitpit. I can already feel the fly's around me."
Before I could even respond to her, Dimean sped-walked away towards the exit, talking shit the whole way there. Classic noble attitude right there.
As we exited the building Dimean didn't stop talking, leaving me still incapable of saying anything at all.
"Why haven't you said anything yet? Seriously, I told you not to hang out with those lower class paysans. You were doing so well listening to my commands and now you just squandered all my goodwill for you."
She paused. Oh thank goodness she finally stopped talking! I've been listening to her this whole time, but I don't think any of it should be reiterated. But now she's glaring heavily at me, ah shit she's mad! I only have one option left!
I looked directly into Dimean's eyes which seemed to startle her a little and smiled.
"Sorry babes, I just missed my friends is all. I haven't seen them in weeks, and I feel more comfortable around people of my status."
To add to my words, I lowered my ears and tucked my tail in a little. This worked wonders because not only did Dimean blush but she sped up even more, hiding her face from me all the while.
"Hmph! You're lucky you're so cute, or else I would've long since left you!"
When we reached her ride, Dimean stood in front of the door not moving and slightly looking at me as if she was expecting something.
Oh right! I hurriedly stepped forward and opened the door for her, she smirked and got in, I joined after.
The car(?) was automatic and had voice activation to take us to our destination. Where to?
"Take us to the Tempest guard tower." Dimean said.
Wherever that is.
The car smoothly and swiftly began driving us further out and closer to the pillar. With nothing to do I watched my girlfriend look out the window. As I did, unusual, or maybe normal fluttering feelings floated around my stomach, chest and mind.
Heh… How funny, throughout all of the centuries in my last life, I never had these same feelings for any of the sporadic partners I occasionally had. It's definitely coming from past me but honestly, it's not a bad feeling, just different.
Dimean sat across from me with her eyes closed and facing the window, it looked as if she was contemplating something. I guess now was a good time to explain how she looks.
Her name was Dimean Bar Kinpierce Xir-Cawthone. A real mouthful, so this will be the last time I will say it. Informally she's just called Dimean Kinpierce, a military household that controls the eighth pillar. One of nine military noble families and a part of the fifteen leading groups in this city. I really don't care about this at all but it is taught to us in the military so we don't disrespect any of them.
Back to my girlfriend, standing at six foot five, Dimean is a beautiful stormy blue haired woman with bright brown eyes and slightly on the paler side of the muhaz skin palette. I could keep going in depth, such as the two little moles on her right eyebrow, one in the middle and the other further to the right, but it looks like she's ready to talk now.
"It seems like the invaders are preparing for a land invasion." She said.
Seriously?! I just got here!
Dimean continued, "Since this came directly from my parents the info is reliable. So from now on, I want you to stay with me and not run off again, understood?"
"But what about my friends?" I asked, "They're gonna have to fight and I can't have them fight without me."
Dimean stared at me for a moment, I stared back unflinchingly. Begrudgingly, she breaks contact and sighs heavily.
"I will add them to my unit then. I can easily pull some strings to do something as simple as that. And besides, I know I can't not join the fight as well so having more people on my side shouldn't be too bad."
"Yes! Thanks babes!"
The car went quiet once more, Dimean stayed staring at me once more and shifting uncomfortably.
"Yeah?" I asked.
Dimean looks away, face flushed, "I'm helping you out aren't I? I should expect some form of compensation." tapping the spot next to her.
Oh? OH! Waitwaitwait, I don't remember past me being at this level!? I quickly scrambled my brain to find some evidence but quickly came up empty! And with no choice I simply sat next to her, I really tried to hide my blush but I don't know how well that's going for me.
"Turn around." She commanded.
Huh, why? It was a weird order but I still obeyed nevertheless.
Suddenly, a cold shiver shoots through my spine!
"E-EEP!" I squeal embarrassingly before I can even hold back my voice.
"Hehe~ Sensitive today aren't we?" Dimean teases.
I nervously shake my head, "Pfft, o-of course not! Why would Iiiyaaahh!~"
Holy SHit! My eyes spiral as my brain is overloaded with a sense of pleasure that completely envelops my synapses!
At this point, I am completely prone and vulnerable from any angle. And Dimean takes full advantage of that.
"Now~ time for your punishment for disobeying me!~" She says. I am certain I can see a devil's grin from her right now, so is this their relationship?
—--------
It wasn't long til we arrived at our destination at which Dimean finally relented and let me gather myself before exiting the car.
Listen, I swear all it was was her tickling me and touching some apparently VERY sensitive spots native to corakaks. At the very least I've learned a few things…
When we finally enter the tower it's completely different than what I was expecting. On the outside it's just a simple looking stone and metal complex that directly connects to the massive stone pillar, If anything it kinda looks a bit medieval with all that stone. But on the inside, whooh boi!
First off, going through the complex was a pain in the ass. Even though Dimean was a noble, we still couldn't bypass the mandatory security checks.
"Quincy! You see me nearly every day, just let me through just this once!" Dimean moaned.
"Sorry madam but no can do. You know this already since you say this almost every day." Responded the security officer who was scanning everyone, us included, before anyone could enter.
"UGGHHH!! I am going to get you fired, you know who I am and yet you still display such arrogance!"
"Madam, it was YOUR parents who gave this command and made the rule that you were not excluded from this either."
"UGGHHHH!!!"
I watched as the two continued their back and forth with a smirk, it seemed that this was a common occurrence since no one else seemed bothered by this. Now where was I again? Ah right.
Secondly, the complex is actually just the entrance to the pillar itself! The complex part of the pillar is just meant for security and testing and once actually inside the pillar the first thing you see is that it's almost hollow. Not too far from a lighthouse or watchtower, the outer edge has a stairway leading all the way up to the top. Of course this isn't the main way to the offices and other rooms wasn't actually the stairway but the elevators nearer the center of the pillar next to the inner glass pillar directly in the center that also went to the top.
I was so completely distracted with my surroundings that I didn't notice that we finished getting checked into the pillar.
"Cmon, this way corakak!" Dimean said, breaking my thoughts.
I followed her to the elevators which were actually just a pole in the center of a circle. When we stepped on, a holographic popped up showing a laundry list of numbered floors. Dimean tapped one of them and a dome covered us as the ground rose.
As we moved it was dead quiet, the awkward kind, before I broke it.
"Hey Dimean, why can't you just call me by my name already?" I asked.
She looked away, eyes down. "Well why not? You're just a temporary partner, a fling."
Oooh, ouch! But yeah, she isn't wrong. You see, a few weeks back Dimean sent out an application to multiple different people to hopefully find a temporary partner. Why? Noble stuff, the marriage kind, very typical.
Anyways, past me just so happen to need a new job due to losing my last one because of pay cuts. And after a thorough interview from her, I got the job, or rather relationship. I now have to listen to her rules and a few other things and in return, I get paid.
"Haa… I know that but could please do, you already touch my tail and that's kinda a-"
*FWOOOOMM!!*
What the hell?!
Behind me inside the glass pillar a deep blue plasma quickly filled and blared out before gradually dimming back to normal.
Dimean saw my piloerection and walked closer to comfort me, petting my tail once again.
"Don't worry, it's just the plasma used for the dome shield." She said.
After that we finally got to Dimean's office. In reality it looked more like her bedroom, it even had her bed.
"Do you live here?" I asked.
She shook her head, "No it's just that I get so much paperwork, there's times where I stay overnight."
I tilted my head, "Aren't you a noble? Couldn't you just give that work to some-"
Before I finished my sentence Dimean glared heavily at me again.
"No. Following in my parents footsteps, I must not become lazy with my work. Laziness breeds corruption, and corruption births death." She dead serious.
"Huh… You're more mature than I gave you credit for."
"Hmph! I know when to take things seriously!" Dimean retorts. "Well, you may stay within the room, find yourself comfortable, I have work to do."
Looking over she was right, a large stack of sheets, a cup of datachips, and other forms of paperwork all were at her desk.
Seeing that she would be busy I busied myself by staring at the window. It was quite a view too, I could see all of the military district and a good portion of the city as well. Aaannd I'm already bored, can't something happen already!
!TWICH!
My ear flickered, something that caused my instincts to trigger! I turned around to find the cause of it! Where!?
My gaze then shifted towards Dimean's bed.
!TWICH!
Shit, I ran to Dimean!
"Dimean watch out!" I yelled!
"Wha-"
*fwing*
"Gah!"
I just barely made it in time as a red laser just barely missed Dimean's head. Unfortunately the laser pierced right through my wrist, paralyzing my arm entirely! The pain alone caused me to drop to my knees.
"Oooh! Just barely missed!" a voice rang from the dresser next to Dimean's bed.
"And here I thought you two would get to fucking, would have been far easier to kill you then." said another beneath the bed.
Dimean didn't bother to respond and instead pulled out her pistol from her desk and just began firing at her bed and desk.
*bang* *bang* *bang*
The assassin dodged out from under the bed finally making themselves known. The two were squid shaped and covered completely in black. They both had weird looking gadgets on their faces and guns in their hands.
Before Dimean could aim again the two disappeared and stood behind the both of us. I tried to get up but tentacles wrapped around my legs and waist immobilizing me.
"Hey, aren't you a corakak? No wonder you found us out, I heard your kind had amazing instincts!" The squid invader said to me.
"You dare hold me hostage?! How did you invaders even get into my office to begin with, this place is impenetrable!" Screamed Dimean.
The squid holding her ignored and covered her mouth with another tentacle.
"Calm down deary, I can't go killing you yet. Well we were but since you're alive, we may as well use you as a hostage. I'm sure your parents would love to have you back." It responded.
"MMhmHhm!"
"She sure is a mouthful. Hey, are you sure you want to keep her?" My squid asked.
"Yeah, but we don't need that one. You may as well get rid of him." Dimean's squid answered.
Hearing this Dimean struggled even harder! "MHMHPHHGM!"
Her capturer giggled, "Aww, you don't want me to? Well how can we possibly carry the both of you, we're only planet cast cultivators after all!" it said sarcastically.
*Booom!* *Boom!* *Boooom!*
Just then a barrage of red balls crashed into the city flattening the terrain! I watched on as one of those red balls landed directly on the military Dormitory!
"Noooooooo!" I screamed!
Tears formed as I recalled my friends.
"Oh? Did you have friends there? Family? Well don't you worry, you'll be meeting them soon enough, hehehe!"
I looked over to see the squid's laser gun pointing right at my head. I turned back to see Dimean bawling her eyes out as she could only watch with widened eyes.
Seeing that, I smiled. "Don't worry you'll make i-"
*fwing*
I died.
