Chapter 103: Old Bident!

Meng Hongchen shook her head and said, "Grandfather's search efforts and even the bounty he posted these days haven't turned up any news at all."

Huo Yuhao nodded and didn't continue the heavy topic with her. At the very least, the next dangerous period when Meng Hongchen's cold poison might backfire wouldn't come for another two or three years. Huo Yuhao also had a definite method to help her resolve the conflict between the powers of ice and fire for now. That alone would drastically reduce the probability of an accident.

As for purifying her bloodline—it might really come down to luck. But Huo Yuhao still had a fair bit of faith in his own identity as a "Child of Destiny."

Even in the worst-case scenario—if Meng Hongchen were to die from the cold poison backlash—Huo Yuhao still had the Necromantic Eternal Tower that Electrolux was currently restoring to protect her soul. As long as her soul remained intact, "Resurrect, my love" wouldn't be that difficult.

If even a dead wife's soul ring could be brought back—why couldn't she?

Huo Yuhao continued chatting with Meng Hongchen about his recent research inside the Mingde Hall. When he mentioned that Crown Prince Xu Tiannan had granted him military authority, Meng Hongchen's eyes lit up. "Whoa, General Huo!"

Huo Yuhao helplessly held his forehead. "General what? I'm not even close to that yet. Right now, I'm just someone who holds command authority without an actual military post."

"Heehee, the Crown Prince said it himself. That means you definitely will be in the future! The future Grand General of the Sun Moon Empire... sounds like a perfect match for this lady's status~"

"Senior, stop messing around."

Just as Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen were in the middle of an animated conversation, the waiter brought over a huge plate of roasted meat and placed it on the table in front of them.

At that very moment—just like so many times in the past—a familiar old man walked up, sat himself across from the two of them without waiting for an invitation, and grinned:

"You young lovebirds, there's no more seating left. This old man can sit here, right?"

Though he asked politely, the shameless old coot had already taken his seat before they could even respond. 'Then why the hell did you even ask?!'

Huo Yuhao nearly choked on his own saliva. Long Xiaoyao, you damn old bastard! Why did you have to show up now and ruin the mood like some third wheel?!

Meng Hongchen, unaware that the shameless old man in front of her was actually a Limit Douluo, immediately puffed up with indignation. She filled her cheeks like a squirrel and fumed:

"Hey! You can see that we're a guy and a girl having some alone time here! How could you just sit down like that without a care?! Isn't there anyone else you could share a table with?!"

Huo Yuhao stayed silent. After all, Long Xiaoyao was his teacher, and he couldn't very well curse him out in public. Still, Meng Hongchen's words really did vent the frustration Huo Yuhao was holding in. He also knew Long Xiaoyao bore them no ill will, so he just let her say her piece.

That said, given Long Xiaoyao's personality—once he sat down, he definitely wasn't going to get up. That was just how this old bastard operated.

With a faint smile on his face, Long Xiaoyao completely ignored Meng Hongchen's verbal attack and simply signaled the waiter to take his order. Huo Yuhao let out a long breath. At least the old bastard wasn't planning to mooch off him for food this time.

"Hey Yuhao! Say something! This old man is so rude!"

Only then did Long Xiaoyao act like he finally noticed her. Smiling cheerfully, he said:

"Little missy, don't be angry. Xiao Yuhao, why don't you introduce your little girlfriend to this old man?"

Huo Yuhao sighed and said, "Senior, this elder is my cultivation teacher—Long Xiaoyao. His title is Dragon Emperor, and his cultivation level is 99: Limit Douluo."

Meng Hongchen, who had been just about to curse him out again, suddenly froze. 'What? Yuhao's teacher? Limit Douluo?!'

Seeing her stunned expression and frozen brain, Long Xiaoyao burst into hearty laughter. Right now, he had that familiar feeling of smug satisfaction—like back in the old days when he used to play dumb, only to show off later and smack faces hard.

"This old bastard really is shameless. I'd like to have a fight with him someday," commented Snow Empress inside Huo Yuhao's spiritual sea.

At this moment, Meng Hongchen was beginning to panic. She had just shouted all those rude things... at a Limit Douluo.

"Yuhao! Yuhao! What do I do now?" Meng Hongchen hurriedly sent a mental message to Huo Yuhao, desperate for help.

Huo Yuhao couldn't help but laugh when he heard her flustered voice in his mind.

'So cute.'

"Don't worry, Senior. Teacher's personality is like that—he won't care as long as it wasn't too harsh. Just stay quiet for now. Honestly, I wanted to scold him too."

Huo Yuhao replied mentally while gently taking her now-cold hand to comfort her. Hearing his words, Meng Hongchen finally calmed down. She lowered her head and mumbled:

"Good evening, elder. Please stay here. I'm sorry. I don't mind..."

In the face of power, people often have no choice but to lower their heads.

Long Xiaoyao smiled in satisfaction and stroked his beard. A girl who admits when she's wrong—quite good. Her temperament matched his student Huo Yuhao's: resilient and flexible.

Soon, Long Xiaoyao's order of roast meat was brought out by the waiter. As a regular customer, Long Xiaoyao had special privileges in this restaurant. His food was always served first—no matter how many people were in line ahead of him.

Naturally, this caused quite a bit of resentment among other guests. But what could they do? The old owner of this restaurant was an old acquaintance of Long Xiaoyao's and was as stubborn as a mule. He didn't care about anyone else's opinion. Even if customers tried to cause trouble, he wasn't worried—someone else would take care of it.

Just like now—a well-dressed, middle-aged man who seemed to be a wealthy merchant saw Long Xiaoyao's meal being served before his, even though he had been waiting for a while. His temper flared instantly.

He snapped at the waiter, "Hey! What's going on in this place? Why does that old coot get served before me?! Do you even know who I am? I could shut this little barbecue joint down in a heartbeat!"

He shouted and ranted, but the waiter—clearly used to this kind of scene—just ignored him and looked toward Long Xiaoyao.

Long Xiaoyao smiled knowingly and made an "OK" gesture. Then he gave the loudmouth merchant a single glare—and the man suddenly found himself speechless. He touched his mouth in alarm.

'What the hell? Why can't I talk?!'

Then, something even more terrifying happened. A deep, ancient voice echoed in his mind,

"Either wait quietly, or... get lost."

That voice—it was the same old man who had been served first! The merchant looked into Long Xiaoyao's deep, black eyes and nearly pissed himself. Now he realized he had just provoked someone far beyond his league. And he wasn't just anyone either—he was a Soul Ancestor-level Soul Master!

Panicked, the man fled the restaurant in a hurry, leaving his already-paid-for meal untouched.
