Seeing that the customer had fled in a panic, the server walked over to Long Xiaoyao, bowed slightly, and said softly, "Thank you, Elder Long," before departing.
Witnessing the entire scene, Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen were left completely speechless by Long Xiaoyao. While the customer's behavior had indeed been rude, wasn't it this old man who had taken the seat uninvited in the first place?
Long Xiaoyao still wore a carefree expression as he happily devoured his grilled meat. He truly had no manners. Just like how he once joined the evil soul masters for the sake of love with Ye Xishui—an old scoundrel through and through.
Still speechless, Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen lowered their heads and began eating as well. The mood at the table had become rather awkward.
Though Meng Hongchen didn't say anything on the surface, she was clearly fuming inside. That annoying old man had completely ruined her romantic dinner! The atmosphere with just her and Yuhao had been so wonderful.
Fortunately, she could still secretly hold Huo Yuhao's hand under the table to soothe her injured soul.
Sensing the tension, Huo Yuhao figured it couldn't go on like this, so he asked:
"Teacher, this isn't just a coincidence, is it? Ever since you left me that mass of dark energy to comprehend last time, I haven't seen you again."
Meng Hongchen, still munching away, perked up her ears to listen intently.
Long Xiaoyao took a big bite of meat, chewed, swallowed, then sipped his wine before replying:
"This time really is a coincidence, little Yuhao. But I was planning to visit you in the next few days anyway, just to see how your understanding of the darkness has progressed."
Saying that, Long Xiaoyao put down his chopsticks and gave Huo Yuhao a scrutinizing look.
Huo Yuhao knew exactly what he wanted. Without a word, he calmly picked up a piece of meat with a fork and placed it in his mouth. At the same time, he snapped the fingers of his left hand.
In an instant, all the soul lamps in the restaurant went out, plunging the place into total darkness. Startled gasps erupted from the other diners.
"Did the lights break?"
"What's going on?"
After chewing and swallowing, Huo Yuhao snapped his fingers again, and the restaurant was immediately bathed in light once more.
While the other guests had no idea what happened, both Long Xiaoyao and Meng Hongchen knew perfectly well it was Huo Yuhao's doing.
Meng Hongchen stared at him, mouth agape in awe. Her heart fluttered once more as her secret crush on him reignited from his sudden display of coolness.
Even Long Xiaoyao was surprised. To take away the light, then return it—Yuhao's control over the power of darkness had already reached such a level?
Though this was only the first stage of mastering darkness for soul masters with dark-attributed martial souls, for someone like Yuhao, who didn't even have a darkness-type martial soul, to achieve this through sheer will and comprehension alone was extraordinary. It meant his grasp over elemental power was practically innate.
"Not bad. Very good. As expected of you, little Yuhao," Long Xiaoyao praised sincerely.
He took another swig of wine and returned to his food. Truth be told, despite being hailed as a prodigy in his youth, in the past two hundred years, there hadn't been a single youngster who truly impressed him.
In the world of Douluo, people often said a genius had the potential to become a Titled Douluo, but no one dared to say someone had the potential to become an Ultimate Douluo.
Because becoming an Ultimate Douluo required more than just talent—it needed fortune, timing, opportunity, relentless effort... In the long history of Douluo, how many had truly reached that level? That he, Ye Xishui, and Mu En, all peers, had become Ultimate Douluos was a miracle in itself.
But looking at the boy in front of him now, Long Xiaoyao believed: if no disastrous obstacles cut his life short, Huo Yuhao would one day become Ultimate.
He could sense it—as someone already brushing against the elusive godhood threshold beyond Rank 100. Huo Yuhao might become someone truly special, even to him.
Love had left Long Xiaoyao scarred and alone, and for the first time in years, he felt like he had a real purpose again. If he could help guide this young man to the peak of power, perhaps his life wouldn't have been wasted after all.
"I'll come find you tomorrow, Yuhao. Now that you've more or less grasped the basics of darkness, it's time I teach you what comes next."
With those slightly emotional words, Long Xiaoyao buried himself in food and drink again.
Slowly, Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen relaxed, whispering and giggling to each other like a couple in love.
Looking up from his cup and seeing the two of them chatting sweetly, Long Xiaoyao suddenly felt a twinge of envy.
'If only... If only Xishui and I could've been like that…'
With a dull clink, he put down his cup and lowered his head, muttering softly. His eyes had gone misty—he didn't use soul power to dispel the effects of alcohol. He was slightly drunk.
He kept thinking, 'If only I had been the only genius back then. If only Mu En hadn't been there…' He and Ye Xishui could have been the perfect couple—two peerless soul masters, celebrated across the continent. So many tragedies could've been avoided.
But Long Xiaoyao never once regretted meeting Mu En. Their bond as twin holy dragons—light and dark—was genuine and pure.
Perhaps this was fate. Light and darkness, always born into the world as a pair, forever tangled, with both love and hate.
Thinking of this, Long Xiaoyao found himself overwhelmed. He tried his best to maintain composure. He scarfed down the last of the grilled meat, downed his wine in one gulp, then suddenly stood. Leaving a few silver soul coins on the table, he staggered toward the exit.
"I'm leaving. You two kids enjoy yourselves."
Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen watched his lonely figure disappear. Meng Hongchen grinned brightly—finally, they could enjoy some real alone time!
"Yuhao, come on, let's have a drink!"
Excited, she ordered some red wine.
Huo Yuhao tore his gaze from Long Xiaoyao's back and looked helplessly at her.
"Senior, we're not even of age yet…"
Meng Hongchen rolled her eyes.
"Who cares if we're underage? It's not like Grandpa's gonna find out. We're soul masters! What's a little alcohol? Even if I don't use soul power to detox it, there's no way I'll get drunk!"
'Senior, don't jinx yourself…' Huo Yuhao thought. 'That old Ultimate Douluo who just walked out? He might've just left because he got a little drunk and couldn't hold in his emotions anymore…'
