Chapter 110: Necromantic Magic

Jing Hongchen suddenly thought of something and sneered.

"Yuhao, now that we've made the deal with Shrek Academy, I'll leave that student Ma Xiaotao in your care. Do you have confidence in looking after her?"

Huo Yuhao gave a "pure" smile.

"Don't worry, Master. I'll take good care of her. Elder Kong has already entrusted me with a method for managing her. Oh, by the way, Master, do we have a list of students from our side going to Shrek Academy for the exchange?"

Jing Hongchen nodded and handed over another list.

Huo Yuhao glanced at it, then exclaimed in surprise.

"Eh? Senior Xiao is going to Shrek Academy too?"

Jing Hongchen sighed.

"We had no choice. Otherwise, those old guys at Shrek wouldn't feel secure letting him go to study their advanced cultivation knowledge. It should benefit him."

Yuhao felt a little down. He wouldn't be able to play shooting games with Senior Xiao for the next few years.

Ever since Yuhao gave Xiao Hongchen the Obrez pistol, the latter had become obsessed with firearms. Nowadays, whenever Yuhao came home from Mingde Hall, Xiao was either cultivating or tinkering with the massive wall of guns he had collected.

"Sigh... Before he leaves, I'll gift him a few more gold-grade skin firearms. Maybe the 'Truth of Type 38' or 'General Liu's Sun Rifle'..."

Then a different thought struck him. With Xiao Hongchen gone... wouldn't that give him the perfect chance to be alone at home with Senior Sister Meng?

'Yeah... and Master's not home much either.'

Excitement hit him like a wave—then came the guilt.

'Senior Xiao, I'll send you off with even more gifts. Leaving home isn't easy!'

As for going to Shrek Academy himself? Absolutely not. There was nothing over there he needed. Everything he wanted was here.

"If you've got no other questions, I'll be going. There's still a lot to prepare for the exchange. You should also get ready."

"Yes, Master."

One month later.

That month passed peacefully. Nothing major happened.

The old emperor's health had unexpectedly improved a bit, which temporarily stabilized the turbulence within the royal court. But whether it was true recovery or a final flare before death, no one could say.

Yuhao's new army added a lot of interest to his life. He was surprised to find he quite enjoyed spending time with ordinary soldiers.

Even more surprising was how quickly those soldiers adapted to the new equipment. Within just half a month, each soldier had found their role: power armor assault troops, tank and truck drivers, scouts with lightweight exosuits, medics, and support roles.

Yuhao then used these assignments to reorganize the 95th Regiment using Earth-style military structure: corps, battalion, company, squad, and team.

In the current 95th Regiment, the team became the basic functional unit. Within it were specialized assault, scout, support, and medical squads. Some special teams were centered around the regiment's fifteen tanks.

This structure greatly improved operational efficiency. Xu Tianyuan even sent Yuhao's methods to the military command for consideration. Once these soul tool technologies became widely available, such structures might spread across the Sun Moon Empire's entire military.

Aside from these strategic developments, Yuhao experienced three personal milestones that month:

First, he was just months away from reaching rank 30, and in that single month, his soul power shot up by two levels to 37. For someone with an Ultimate Martial Soul, this was astounding. In the original timeline, getting from 30 to 40 took him several years.

This leap was thanks to the Life Gold and Destruction Core drastically boosting his vitality and the insights he gained from comprehending the power of creation.

Second, he'd been tinkering with his floating cannon—an invention from earlier days. He discovered that by using the Carving Knife of Creation and Destruction to continuously refine and upgrade the cannon's materials, he could improve its compatibility with his body.

Eventually, he was shocked to find the cannon could be stored inside his Eye of Creation and Destruction for nurturing. After that, it became fully fused with him—his personal soul tool, like Kong Deming's future ten-grade soul tool, the Silver Moon Divine Light Shield.

This meant immense benefits. He could now control more floating cannons with greater precision, and the cannon's attacks could inherit his own powers—mental force, Ultimate Ice, Destruction, Life, even Darkness.

Unfortunately, a personal soul tool was unique. He couldn't just make all soul tools his own; otherwise, he'd become the only soul engineer on the continent with completely soul-tech-based soul skills.

Still, he wondered if he could eventually make his Extreme Ice Mech his personal soul tool. If that happened, it might be no different from a top-tier Battle Armor suit—one that equipped itself with just a thought.

But the mech's level was too high. His current strength couldn't modify it, and no high-level soul engineer could help turn it into a personal soul tool.

For now, his focus was on further upgrading the floating cannon for compatibility with mech use, aiming for bigger firepower and specs.

The third and most exciting development was this—on this very day, Electrolux had finally recreated the Tower of Eternal Undeath.

"Yuhao, are you ready?"

Yuhao swallowed hard and nodded. The moment Electrolux told him the reconstruction was complete, he had rushed to the clearing outside Mingdu where he often trained.

Incidentally, he had also been sparring regularly with his simple-minded Titled Douluo junior brother here. He usually lost, but the fights helped hone his skills.

"Alright, let's project the Tower of Eternal Undeath here, Yuhao."

Even Electrolux was emotional. This was the Eternal Tower! Even a fragment of it projected into this world was an unimaginable achievement for his fragmented soul.

Yuhao closed his eyes. When he opened them again, they had turned a holy yet sinister gray. Beneath his feet, a massive gray soul ring appeared.

After regaining much strength, Electrolux had helped Yuhao manifest his third martial soul—the Death God Saint Mage. Naturally, the power had to conform somewhat to this world's rules.

This martial soul had only one soul ring: a skill to project the Tower of Eternal Undeath. Without soul power, projecting such a powerful structure into reality was impossible.

The gray ring glowed beneath him. In front of him, a glowing white shadow of a ten-meter-tall tower slowly took shape, gradually solidifying until a real, alabaster-white tower stood there.

As it appeared, a blast of powerful necromantic energy erupted, instantly draining all life within a few kilometers. Yuhao panicked—the burst was too intense.

Luckily, it lasted only a moment. The aura quickly subsided.

He let out a deep breath. If that surge had continued, the whole area would've become a dead zone and drawn every evil soul master in the region like moths to a flame.

"Phew... success."

He could feel his soul power slowly draining. Without Electrolux's help, he would've been completely drained.

"Hahaha! Excellent!"

Electrolux laughed heartily, delighted by the sight of the tower. It brought back memories of his glory days.

The tower might only be ten meters now, but one day it would rise to its former heavenly height.

Yuhao now wanted to test the tower's function—specifically, its ability to collect souls.

His eyes still glowed gray. He had gained necromantic sight—the ability to see souls.

Scanning the area, he spotted a small soul—a baby rabbit's.

'Poor little guy. Maybe it died from that earlier energy surge.'

He locked onto it with his mental force. At that instant, a faint glow lit up one of the seven doors on the first level of the tower, and the rabbit's soul was sucked inside.

Inside the tower, its fading soul solidified under the nourishment of necromantic energy, appearing almost alive.

Yuhao was thrilled. This meant the tower's preservation and nourishment functions worked perfectly.

The absorption speed also impressed him. Once a soul was locked, it was immediately pulled into the tower.

He could even shrink the tower to carry it around like a soul-hunting god. On the battlefield, he could gather fallen souls en masse.

Those evil soul masters trying to harvest souls during war would be stunned.

'Huh? Where'd all my souls go?'

Of course, collecting souls was one thing. Reviving them was another.

Yuhao asked Electrolux how to restore them to life.

Electrolux fell silent, then replied slowly.

"There are only two methods. The first is to reunite the soul with its original body. But that requires immense soul strength, only possible for the strongest individuals.

"Creating a new body is out of the question. These souls have already passed on. Forcing revival is a serious violation of divine law, unless the soul is exceptionally unique. That holds true in our world as well."

Yuhao sighed. 'So bringing back the dead isn't easy after all.'

"Then what's the second method, Elder Yi?"

"You already know. In my necromantic demiplane, there are countless undead beings, right?"

Yuhao nodded. He remembered the sheer number.

"You mean... let the souls inhabit those undead bodies?"

"Exactly. The undead differ from the living. Letting dead souls 'revive' in undead bodies doesn't break the natural laws or risk backlash. It's perfectly safe."

Letting a once-living soul reside in such a body was undoubtedly unpleasant—but it was the only option.

Yuhao recalled the undead from Western fantasy: ageless, tireless, and... beyond certain biological limitations.

"If you want to let a soul possess an undead body, you'll need to learn one of my necromantic spells—Spirit Descent. Want to try it? It's a great entry point into necromantic magic."

Yuhao didn't answer immediately but smiled.

"Elder Yi, are you really okay with me learning necromantic magic?"

In the original timeline, Electrolux had thought long and hard before entrusting Yuhao with this power. After all, the line between necromancy and evil soul arts was thin. It all depended on the user.

Electrolux smiled.

"Heh. Yuhao, I trust you. With your heart, there's no way you'd use this power for evil. Besides, your two lifetimes have shaped a mature soul. You won't be blinded by power."

When Electrolux sensed Yuhao's genuine desire to improve life through technology, he knew Yuhao's heart was in the right place. Even if he killed enemies ruthlessly, that was understandable. Some people deserved death.

In a world of survival of the fittest, Yuhao's compassion was a rare trait. He might not be as pure-hearted as Long Haochen, but he was fully qualified to inherit Electrolux's legacy.

"Thank you for your trust, Elder Yi."

"Heh, no time to waste. While the tower projection enhances your connection to necromantic power, I'll teach you your first necromantic spell. I never thought my power would be passed on. It makes me happy."

Spirit Descent, as the name suggested, summoned a soul into an undead body.

In necromancy, every spell required a chant. The complexity of the chant dictated the spell's power.

Spirit Descent wasn't too hard. Yuhao quickly memorized the incantation.

"Excellent. I knew I wasn't wrong about you, Yuhao. You have the talent to inherit my legacy."
