ALEXANDER'S PAST (3)

The prince's mother shook her head and chuckled, "I'm alright; stop shouting, or you'll pierce my eardrums with all the noise."

The prince pursed his lips, but anyone could see the hidden anxiety in his eyes, and he squeezed her hand on the bed.

She pulled her hands from his hold and gently ran them through his silver hair. "My boy, I don't have much time longer, but you must live on without me."

Finally, this time Alexander couldn't hold it in; tears burst from his eyes, falling down his cheeks. His body trembles despite his rigid back.

Alexander's mother didn't coax him like most moms do, but she said in a calm, light-toned voice, "I know you're in pain and worried about me, but you will make yourself sick in the end. As much as I love to be with you, watch you grow up, watch you fall in love, learn how to dance, learn how to hunt, and the list goes on."
