Inside the Church of Holy Blood, Silas and Father Anthony walked through a quaint, long corridor.
After the baptism was completed, Father Anthony took Silas to familiarize himself with the complex situation of the church and finally led him to his future workshop.
"The Church's departments are quite complex. I'll mainly tell you about the mystical departments."
"First are the two top and most elite departments of the Church: the Holy Sword Team and the Holy Choir. The Holy Sword Team is primarily responsible for expeditions to crusade against cults, heretics, and monsters – elite units for large-scale operations, numerous and well-equipped."
"The Holy Choir is the spiritual core of the entire Church. They are the group closest to the Goddess, and their devout spirit leads the entire Church."
"However, the Twin Holy Departments only exist in the headquarters capital and the church institutions of first-tier cities. Other branch churches do not have them."
Father Anthony didn't seem to know much about these two departments either and directly continued, "Next, let's talk about the regular configuration of our city's church."
"Demon Hunters, Divine Punishers, Exorcist Nuns, Night Watchers – you already know about these, so I won't elaborate. I'll mainly talk about those closely related to your functions."
"Your current department is called the Three Moon Apostles. It's divided into Azure Moon Healers, Blood Moon Executioners, and Purple Moon Agents. Their numbers are relatively small, but it can be said that each of them is an elite."
"Azure Moon Healers are internal affairs personnel, responsible for the entire church's medical facilities and blood therapy. Our church's Azure Moon Healer is Father Hank."
"Blood Moon Executioners are field personnel, primarily responsible for directly executing some prisoners and cult members."
"Who is our church's Blood Moon Executioner?" Silas asked curiously.
A hint of subtle hesitation flashed across Father Anthony's face, then he smiled. "This doesn't have much to do with you. I'll continue."
A sharp glint flashed in Silas's eyes as he listened quietly.
"As for your current Purple Moon Agent, it's quite special. Initially, the Purple Moon Agent was positioned as R&D and guidance personnel for technology and mysticism. Later, due to the excessively high cost of dispersed R&D, it was centralized and formed the current independent department: the Holy Blood Research Institute. Afterward, the Purple Moon Agent was incorporated into a semi-combat sequence, specifically responsible for investigating and resolving mystical incidents in the city."
"Due to their background as research personnel, the tradition of Purple Moon Agents is erudition and wide-ranging knowledge. Each of them is more or less proficient in technological or mystical knowledge, which is of vital help in their independent investigations."
"What's the difference between this function and that of Demon Hunters or Divine Punishers?" Silas asked curiously.
Father Anthony explained, "Of course there is. The main function of Demon Hunters is to hunt heretics, and they rarely manage ordinary mystical incidents. Divine Punishers and Exorcist Nuns are mostly responsible for expulsion and elimination, and they all act collectively, which is not convenient for investigation. Night Watchers are responsible for patrols and early warnings, and their role during the day is limited."
Silas hearing this asked, "So, the current Purple Moon Agent relies on their extensive knowledge to investigate mystical incidents, solve minor issues themselves, and find help for major ones?"
"Yes."
"Damn, going around in circles, isn't this back to being an investigator?" Silas felt very uncomfortable.
Father Anthony continued, "Cultivating an excellent Purple Moon Agent is not easy. They need to possess extensive knowledge and means to cope with various incidents during independent investigations. They also need to have sufficient psychological fortitude and combat ability for self-preservation."
Saying this, Father Anthony looked at Silas seriously. "You are a Priest and also possess the talent to communicate with souls, which makes it more convenient for you to obtain additional information. Master Jeros said you have strong psychological fortitude, are sufficiently cautious in your actions, and have a high desire for knowledge. These conditions perfectly match the Purple Moon Agent, who often acts alone."
"Act alone!?" Silas's eyes lit up upon hearing these two words.
"This position doesn't seem as bad as I imagined!" Silas's mood instantly brightened.
Father Anthony continued to explain the helplessness of the current situation.
"This recent series of incidents has greatly stimulated Bishop Logan. We clearly feel the inadequacy and lack of mystical personnel. Since the sacrifice of the previous Purple Moon Agent, his duties have been distributed among our several departments. It's usually fine, but once a major problem arises, the issue is exposed. You have actually been fulfilling the role of a Purple Moon Agent this time."
"Two years ago again!" Silas thought.
Bart had told him that two years ago, due to certain events, the mystical system here had suffered a severe blow.
And the previous generation of Purple Moon Agents had sacrificed themselves at that time. It was definitely not a coincidence.
Father Anthony continued, "After this incident, your talent and resilience have been affirmed by both the Bishop and Master Jeros. They believe you are the best candidate to become a Purple Moon Agent and are prepared to focus on cultivating you."
Silas nodded seriously. "I am grateful for the expectations of the Bishop and Master Jeros. I will strive to become an outstanding Purple Moon Agent, but I may need some time."
"Don't worry, every clergyman has a one-month adaptation and learning period," Father Anthony patted Silas's shoulder reassuringly.
Silas nodded with a smile.
Silas was very satisfied with this position. While becoming an official clergyman, Silas also had to manage his own church. He needed a relatively quiet environment and sufficiently free operational functions.
This position could be said to completely meet all of Silas's requirements.
It allowed him to access knowledge from many aspects, which was most suitable for him, who possessed a divine CPU.
The most crucial thing was that he was currently the only person in the entire department, so he could be free and act independently.
Thinking of this, Silas realized that this position was the result of discussions between Master Jeros and the Pope. This instantly astonished Silas.
"Master Jeros's thoughts are much deeper than I imagined. He even prepared such a position that suits my taste so well in advance? Truly worthy of being an old monster who has lived for over a hundred years."
Passing through a somewhat dim and deep corridor, the two descended a flight of stairs into the underground.
"I'll take you around first, then give you a map. However, your current authority is limited, and there aren't many places you can go. Remember not to wander around. There are many mystical traps here. The slightest carelessness can even lead to life-threatening danger," Father Anthony warned with a serious expression.
Silas nodded vigorously, thinking to himself, "Just how many secrets are hidden here? Designing these deadly traps in their own headquarters?"
Walking down the steps, after passing through two heavy iron gates, the two suddenly arrived in a huge and complex space.
"I think you will like this place very much," Father Anthony said with a smile, spreading his arms.
Silas looked around, grinned, and said, "Yes, I plan to live here for the next month."
At this moment, the two had arrived at the library of the Church of Holy Blood.
