CHAPTER 67

c67: Attacking the Japanese Trainer Station

After Xiao Wang nodded to Hypno, a soft aura of psychic-blue energy radiated from Hypno's body. The moment its pendulum began to swing, it linked its mind with the first of the unconscious Japanese trainers and then established a direct telepathic channel with Xiao Wang.

Within minutes, Hypno repeated the process with the other two.

After all three had undergone psychic interrogation, Xiao Wang's voice trembled with excitement.

"Confirmed! Their real objective was to "

"Xiao Wang." Leng Hao's voice cut in sharply. "That's enough. Skip to the important part. Any accomplices still active in China? Where are they hiding? What level of threat are we dealing with?"

Xiao Wang's pupils contracted slightly. He realized he had said too much especially in front of Chen Xiaoxiao. He stole a glance at her expressionless face and shuddered.

No sign of Latias or Latios...

But clearly, she had him completely fooled.

"Not someone to mess with…" he thought grimly.

"Yes, sir. We've located a covert base hidden in the Kenting region. Coordinates fully retrieved from their memories." Xiao Wang took a breath and continued.

"Among the three, Yamada is the strongest he commands a Champion-tier Pokémon, currently assessed around Level 81. The remaining base personnel include multiple Elite-class trainers."

He handed Leng Hao a Pokédex with marked data entries and topographical scans.

Leng Hao's eyes narrowed, a sharp glint flashing in them.

"Hmph. They even dared to set up shop on our turf. Brazen."

Then he turned to Chen Xiaoxiao. "Xiaoxiao, when will these three wake up?"

"Hard to say." Chen Xiaoxiao shrugged playfully. "This is only the second time I've used Confusion on humans. If you're nervous, just sedate them again to be safe."

She said it so casually that Leng Hao's face visibly darkened.

"Second time? Was I the first?!"

He gritted his teeth in silence while barking an order.

"Xiao Zhang give them another shot."

Xiao Zhang immediately took out the anesthetic injectors and sedated the three Japanese operatives. Afterward, under Leng Hao's orders, he and Xiao Lin prepared the 16 confiscated Poké Balls and began securing the captives for transport.

With efficiency, the two of them released Flying-type Pokémon, strapped the restrained trainers and items to customized back harnesses, and took off toward the capital.

Once they were airborne, Leng Hao turned to Chen Xiaoxiao again.

"Xiaoxiao, coming with us?"

Of course, he was referring to the strike operation targeting the Kenting base.

"Absolutely." Chen Xiaoxiao's eyes gleamed. "Latias has been wanting revenge."

Using telepathy earlier, Chen Xiaoxiao had already informed Latias of what the Japanese trainers had done, including their actions against Pokémon. Latias had responded with an intense desire for Retaliation.

So when she accepted the offer, her answer came swiftly.

Upon hearing the name Latias, Xiao Zhang and Xiao Li's eyes widened.

A legendary?!

Their expressions froze in awe, understanding that her true strength went even deeper than what they had witnessed.

Xiao Wang, having already seen hints of this before, simply nodded. He had expected as much.

Leng Hao, though, was visibly delighted.

He had suspected she was hiding something hence cutting Xiao Wang off earlier.

But she was more forthcoming than expected.

Then, at nearly the same time, he and Chen Xiaoxiao each threw out a Poké Ball.

"Let's move. Xiao Wang, you're on point. Come out Charizard!"

With a burst of flames, a powerful orange Charizard emerged, its wings flexing wide as it let out a deep roar.

Xiao Li released a powerful Pidgeot, flapping its expansive wings with precision. It was Elite-ranked, with strong mobility in aerial skirmishes.

Xiao Zhang called forth his Unfezant, sharp-eyed and well-trained, another Elite-tier flyer with superior agility.

Xiao Wang released his Aerodactyl, an ancient Fossil Pokémon whose razor-like wings cut the air with screeching force. Also Elite-level, Aerodactyl's raw speed made it perfect for reconnaissance.

Within moments, the full team was airborne, riding the wind toward Kenting—and into enemy territory.

Latias shimmered through the clouds beside them, a red blur against the sky.

Revenge was coming.

At this moment, a particular Poké Ball on Chen Xiaoxiao's belt suddenly burst open on its own.

Latias, who had been silently observing the surroundings through telepathic connection, shot out voluntarily in a red-and-white streak of light, her wings vibrating with anticipation.

Of course, Chen Xiaoxiao didn't stop her she also wanted to experience how Latias moved in combat firsthand.

(Meanwhile, Togekiss lay fainted in a corner of the transport module bathroom, quietly accusing Chen Xiaoxiao of "rookie favoritism" and neglecting her long-time partner.)

Under Xiao Wang's precise aerial navigation, the team soared through the skies, heading straight toward the confirmed coordinates of the Japanese trainers' secret base.

"What a majestic Pokémon!" Leng Hao couldn't help but drift closer, guiding his Charizard to fly beside Chen Xiaoxiao. His eyes sparkled as he looked at Latias with undisguised admiration.

"Hehe~ Lengritian Uncle, you're an Ice-Type clan head riding a Fire/Flying Pokémon like Charizard. Aren't you worried about being disowned?" Chen Xiaoxiao teased, easily catching his motive.

"Counter-type specialization! Ever heard of it? That's what this is! Counter restraint! I'm just preparing against Steel and Grass threats!" Leng Hao declared righteously, as though giving a lecture to an uninformed junior.

"Pfft sure, sure," Chen Xiaoxiao rolled her eyes. She didn't buy that for a second.

"Anyway, it's not even cute. Our little Langdon Moon is much more adorable." Leng Hao shrugged dramatically, clearly not giving up the banter.

Chen Xiaoxiao was briefly speechless, unsure if he was joking or serious.

Ten minutes later, led by Xiao Wang's precise GPS mapping synced to PokéNav data, the group arrived above a densely wooded area known as Sky Forest a remote and hard-to-reach region even for veteran trainers.

Xiao Wang gave the landing hand signal.

Everyone descended into the thick woods, dismounting from their Flying Pokémon with swift, practiced movements.

"According to the intelligence recovered via Hypno's telepathic interrogation, the enemy base should be beneath our current location. The cliff ahead marks the concealed entrance."

Xiao Wang pointed first at the ground, then toward the edge of a stony ridge ahead.

"Any alternate exits or escape tunnels?" Leng Hao asked, narrowing his eyes at the uneven terrain.

"Negative. The base was set up just over half a year ago as a temporary operational point. No secondary exits were constructed likely to reduce their detection footprint." Xiao Wang replied, stealing another glance at Latias floating silently behind Chen Xiaoxiao.

"Good. Then we proceed with caution. Everyone low profile. No noise, no sudden moves."

"Understood!" the team chorused.

They proceeded for nearly a kilometer on foot through the thick underbrush. At the edge of the cliff, the path abruptly dropped off, revealing a sheer vertical descent of at least 70 meters.

"The structure is located beneath this cliff, but the exact entry point isn't visible from above," Xiao Wang noted, his PokéNav scanning for heat signatures.

"Xiaoxiao, can you confirm the location?" Leng Hao asked. Psychic-types were renowned for their sensory capabilities.

"Give me a second."

Chen Xiaoxiao closed her eyes and focused, mentally linking with Solgaleo her Psychic/Steel-type legendary partner, known in lore for being able to travel through Ultra Space and detect disturbances across dimensions.

"Solgaleo, scan the area. Are there any beings nearby besides our team?"

Solgaleo responded within seconds, its voice echoing directly in her thoughts.

"Yes, Xiaoxiao. Approximately 20 meters below your position and slightly behind. Three humans. No immediate signs of active Pokémon; possibly contained in Poké Balls."

"And the entrance?" she asked.

"Roughly 200 meters to your left, 50 meters down. It's a concealed steel gate disguised behind natural rock formations."

Chen Xiaoxiao opened her eyes and nodded sharply to Leng Hao.

He raised his hand with a half-smirk and gestured theatrically with his right palm.

"Please... the stage is yours."

"Latias let's go!"

At her command, Latias zipped ahead, carrying Chen Xiaoxiao on her back. The others launched into the air behind her, following close in formation.

As they reached the marked area along the cliff, Chen Xiaoxiao could feel the hollowness in the stone beneath her a space cleverly masked by external illusions and camouflage.

It appeared solid to the eye, but clearly, something lay hidden within.

"Impressive excavation work…" she muttered. "Maybe they graduated from the Lanxiang Technical Institute."

She and Leng Hao pulled back to create safe distance from the cliff wall.

"Latias Dragon Pulse!"

Latias opened her mouth and released a powerful blue-and-purple wave of draconic energy, honed with years of psychic-enhanced control.

BOOM!

The concentrated beam hit the rock face with explosive force. A shockwave rippled outward, causing the cliff to tremble and chunks of stone to break free.

The impact didn't stop at the surface it penetrated deep into the hollow layer, slamming straight into the structure behind it.

BOOM!!!

A second, muffled explosion echoed from inside the cliff followed by alarms faintly ringing.

The base had been exposed.
