c 69 – Annihilation of the Japanese Team
"Crobat! Damn it!"
Ishida-kun let out a furious roar, quickly recalling his fainted Crobat back into its Poké Ball.
The other Japanese trainers knew by now the situation was rapidly deteriorating.
On Chen Xiaoxiao's side, Xiao Li and Xiao Zhang's Pokémon—Pidgeot and Unfezant kept using alternating Gusts, not only obscuring visibility but severely disrupting airflow.
Even breathing was becoming difficult, making it harder for the Japanese trainers to issue accurate commands.
Leng Hao, not missing a beat, threw another Poké Ball into the fray.
"Go! Lapras! Ninetales, use Ice Beam in tandem!"
He followed up with a swift tactical order.
A brilliant burst of icy blue energy charged in the mouths of both Ninetales and the newly released Lapras. The two beams launched simultaneously in diverging arcs sweeping across the battlefield in a pincer formation.

After checking Lapras' status data through her PokéNav, Chen Xiaoxiao couldn't help but chuckle.
As Leng Hao's signature powerhouse, Lapras wasn't as overwhelming as his Charizard, but it was a tactical monster especially in weather-based warfare.
"What a beautifully cold battlefield."
Back on the Japanese side, Maeda-kun coughed into the collar of his jacket, shielding his nose from the swirling grit in the air.
"Nidoking! Nidoqueen! Fire Punch, both of you!"
With blurred vision and restricted breathing, he was forced to squint through half-lidded eyes while giving out muffled orders.
"Primeape, Fire Punch! Poliwrath, Ice Punch!" Ikuta-kun echoed, likewise shielding his face from the dust storm.
Ishida-kun had only one high-ranking Pokémon left—Toxicroak, his last Elite-level fighter.
"Toxicroak! Use Shadow Ball!"
Their lower-level Pokémon those at quasi-Elite tier or below were kept benched. In such a chaotic battlefield, summoning them now would risk an instant knockout.
Seeing an opening, Chen Xiaoxiao gave her own command:
"Latias! Flank from the left! Target Primeape with Psychic!"
The Dragon/Psychic-type soared sideways through the dust-hung air.
Her eyes glowed intensely blue as waves of psychic energy formed in front of her.
BOOM!
Latias unleashed a concentrated pulse of spiritual power, striking Primeape just as it and Poliwrath attempted to deflect Lapras' Ice Beam and Ninetales' Ice Beam.
Caught mid-action, Primeape had no time to react.
The psychic force slammed it backward straight into the center of Lapras' frost beam.
CRACK!
A horrifying screech followed, echoing through the base.
Primeape was frozen solid encased in crystalline ice with a look of fury still frozen on its face.
A one-hit KO.
"Primeape! No! Come back!" Ikuta-kun gasped, recalling the iced-over Pokémon with trembling fingers.
Just like Ishida-kun earlier, he'd lost one of his Elite Pokémon in an instant.
Meanwhile, Chen Xiaoxiao's aggressive flanking tactics were perfectly synchronized with the suppressive Gusts from Xiao Li and Xiao Zhang.
Her hit-and-run Psychic-style assaults provided precision strikes while the others harassed and blinded the enemy.
The results spoke for themselves.
Two of the Japanese team's top-tier Pokémon were already out of commission.
Leng Hao couldn't help but grin.
"Xiaoxiao! That was perfect!"
Chen Xiaoxiao merely smirked, her voice dripping with disdain.
"It's just like stomping bugs."
Indeed, when compared to the chaos of the previous battle on the unnamed island where Yamada, Honda, and Mita had coordinated with tactical intensity this squad was a shadow of its former self.
Their current team, though composed of Elite-tier trainers, clearly lacked the discipline and adaptability of the earlier Crown Nine Elites.
They were outclassed.
At this moment, Maeda-kun, Ikuta-kun, and Ishida-kun looked nothing more than a scattered group of headless chickens and barking dogs utterly uncoordinated, their composure collapsing.
They were confined to battling inside a cliff hollow, and no one dared to use full-power attacks for fear of triggering a cave-in. The rock above them was fragile, and a stray Earthquake or Hyper Beam could collapse the cavern on all their heads.
Chen Xiaoxiao could have crushed them already if she had just sent out her full battle team. But there was no need.
Leng Hao was in a similar bind. Even his Champion-tier Ninetales had to restrain its power, resorting to precision-controlled Ice-type techniques to avoid structural damage.
"Damn it! What are we supposed to do now?!" Maeda-kun growled through gritted teeth, eyes darting around for options.
Seeing two of their Elite-level Pokémon already eliminated, his confidence plummeted. He mentally cycled through strategies but discarded them just as fast.
Break through the entrance? No. Chen Xiaoxiao's Latias patrolled that route an attempt would trigger immediate counterattack.
Dig a tunnel to escape? Impossible. If they tunneled and Chen's team used Earthquake, the shockwaves would bury them alive.
Use Earthquake themselves? Too risky. The instability of the cliff hollow could collapse everything above them.
Try to rush out together? Even worse Chen Xiaoxiao's positioning at the mouth of the cave would guarantee their defeat before they got halfway.
Yamada-kun's team must've been captured, Maeda realized grimly. Otherwise, the enemy would never have found their exact location.
But reality was closing in there was no more time to think. Another wave of coordinated attacks had already begun.

"Ninetales, Lapras—Blizzard! Go!" Leng Hao bellowed.
From both Pokémon, bright blue ice energy erupted as twin Blizzards howled across the cavern. The temperature plummeted even further, and a biting chill sliced through the fog of dust.
"Nidoking, Nidoqueen Flamethrower!" Maeda-kun shouted reflexively, his mind now a storm of panic.
"Toxicroak, sortie!" Ishida-kun ordered, voice cracking.
"Poliwrath, Protect!" Ikuta-kun shouted, now prioritizing self-preservation above all.

Chen Xiaoxiao kept her assault focused.
"Latias! Flank again hit Toxicroak with Psychic!"
Latias swooped around in an elegant arc, slipping through the swirling grit like a serpent in fog. Her eyes lit with a powerful blue glow, and a pulse of pure psychic energy erupted forward.
BOOM!
The psychic blast collided squarely with Toxicroak. A loud explosion echoed through the chamber.
From the other side, Chen Xiaoxiao heard a shrill, agonized croak.
Perfect. A frog Pokémon should croak, she thought with grim satisfaction.
Toxicroak slumped to the ground knocked out.
Just as Toxicroak fell, Latias' eyes unleashed a second wave of blue light, this one more erratic Confusion unleashed unconsciously as her emotion spiked.
The wave hit Ishida-kun directly.
"AHHH!"
The trainer clutched his temples and let out a guttural scream, his body trembling violently.
The sheer psychic force rattled his mind and with vision obscured and mental pressure mounting, Ishida-kun collapsed to the ground, unconscious.

"Ishida-kun!"
"Ishida-kun!"
Maeda and Ikuta screamed in unison.
But the dust storm left them mostly blind they could only hear his agonized cries before everything went quiet.
The uncertainty was worse than the attack itself.
---
"Ninetales! Lapras! Aim Freeze Beam at the ground!" Leng Hao commanded.
Earlier, Maeda had ordered Nidoking and Nidoqueen to use Flamethrower against the Blizzards unintentionally creating puddles across the floor of the cave. Water now lapped at their ankles.
Lapras and Ninetales targeted those waterlogged patches with sharp, precision Ice Beams.
A frigid shockwave shot into the puddles, and in seconds, the water began to crystallize
"Wha—!?"
"No!"
Maeda and Ikuta realized too late their feet were encased in rapidly forming ice, trapping them in place up to their calves.
Poor Ishida-kun, already unconscious, was now also frozen where he lay.
Their remaining Pokémon were similarly immobilized.

"Nidoking! Nidoqueen! Break free!" Maeda screamed.
"Poliwrath, break out—NOW!" Ikuta-kun shouted, kicking desperately.
But it was too late.
"Ha! Now finish them!" Leng Hao called out triumphantly.
"Ninetales, Lapras Ice Beam! Target Nidoking and Nidoqueen!"
Twin beams of frozen energy shot across the cave each targeting one of the paralyzed Poison-types.

"Pidgeot! Air Slash strike Nidoking!" shouted Xiao Li.
"Unfezant! Air Slash take down Nidoqueen!" Xiao Zhang followed up immediately.
Having stopped their Gust harassment, the two now shifted to offense, their Flying-types cutting through the air with powerful ranged attacks.

"Latias! Psychic! Finish Poliwrath!" Chen Xiaoxiao said coldly.
Latias charged forward. Her eyes glowed once more.
This time, it was overkill.
A concentrated psychic burst ripped through the air hitting Poliwrath squarely and smashing it against the back wall of the cavern.
---
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Explosions and shockwaves echoed throughout the cliff chamber.
Ice crackled, rocks crumbled, and dust filled the air once again.
The Japanese team frozen, scattered, and psychologically shattered had no remaining hope of recovery.
The final assault was clinical, devastating, and absolutely one-sided.
