Wrongly accused

Since the moment she arrived at the police station, Carmen had been sitting in the lieutenant's office and from what she had heard, they were still waiting for Hugo Lutero to make a decision regarding her. She found that this story had become more than a personal matter because she did not understand why they had to wait for him when he was not even there at the time of the events which had never happened. Past. He was therefore the spokesperson for his best and even like that, it did not justify anything. They just had to consider his disability and go to his house.

“Can I call my father?” She asked.

“We can’t let you do it without Mr. Lutero’s agreement, so we ask you to wait for him.”

She still believed that she hated Hugo Luetro more than her heartless husband who had conspired against her. Just a first night of marriage, not even twenty-four hours as Felix Alvarez's wife and that's how it felt. Attempted poisoning of her husband. Her life no longer had meaning and she realized that she should have run away when he asked her to and that would have avoided this kind of situation.

“Welcome, Mr. Lutero!”

She turned her head and saw him, in front of the door, glaring at her and luckily his eyes weren't machine guns because otherwise she would have died. He was mad at her, that was certain, given the look in his eyes.

“Miss would like to call her parents, we have decided to wait for your arrival to decide.”

She saw him come in and sit down right next to her. It was as if death was slowly engulfing her and he knew he was creating chronic fear in her.

“She would perhaps like to ask her dear dad to run to her aid but what she doesn't know is that he is busy getting his business back on track. Give him the phone.”

Carmen knew he was only doing it to dissuade her, otherwise she didn't see why her father would refuse to talk to her or even see her. He had certainly imposed this marriage on her but he was still her father and could help her. She dialed his number and when the phone started ringing, Hugo got up from his place and stayed behind her, gripping the back of his chair. He wanted to scare her but she couldn't flinch.

“Hello, my lieutenant, what can I do for you?”

She recognized the dad she had had when her mother had just died. The man is filled with pride in the success of his business. He had returned to his form without worrying about her and she did not blame him because she continued to believe that he was certainly waiting until he was more stable to deliver her.

“Dad, it’s me, Carmen. I’m at the police station and I want you to get me out of there.”

It was total silence and she hoped it was because her father couldn't bear to see her there. She hoped he had a father's heart for once but what happened next left her speechless and hopeless.

“You only got married yesterday and you are already at the police station, my dear daughter? So, to save yourself from this marriage, you decided to kill your husband, didn’t you? Do whatever you want but if you have to die, you will die in his hands because I can't give up my business for your whims. It’s just marriage Carmen, one word and it’s complicated for you? When Paula told me that you were a murderer, I didn't believe her but today, I understand that it's your fault that your mother died. You have already taken away from me the woman I loved more than anything and I beg you not to take my business.”

She didn't know how long she had been frozen. Even the tears had dried in his eyes. She also needed her mother more than anything and yet instead of supporting her, he held her responsible for his death. The pain was excruciating. She disconnected the call and placed the phone on the desk. She lowered her head while waiting to be told what punishment she deserved.

“You don’t have a lawyer, Miss and I don’t see what a lawyer would do. He cannot defend you when you are guilty.”

"Guilty ? It’s his word against mine you hear? He’s blind so how did he know that I added sleeping pills to his tea if he’s still awake at the moment? I’m wrongly accused, let’s see.”

“And your hurtful words last night, Carmen? You know what it feels like when someone uses an evil in your life to hurt you like your father just did so well by calling you a murderer, for the death of your own mother. You're in pain, aren't you? That's how bad Felix felt yesterday when you called him so muchhurtful names. You demonstrated that you did not agree to this marriage and yet you did not hide the fact that you wanted to consummate it and out of frustration, you took him to be guilty of his state. Don’t you have a heart?”

Another unfounded accusation. Felix therefore had no shame in inventing all these stories against her. If his goal was for her to leave, why didn't he clearly ask his friend to cancel their marriage since he was the main actor in the entire story. She didn't remember trying to kill a

nyone and yet she was accused of it.
