Chapter 6
Dominic's eyes sparkled with amusement as he watched Lindsay try to catch her breath. "Well, well, well. Looks like trouble found you again," he said, his deep voice low and smooth.
Lindsay glared at him, her eyes flashing with defiance. "Mind your own business, Blackwood," she shot back, her voice husky from exhaustion.
Dominic chuckled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "Oh, I'm just getting started. What did you do this time, Lindsay?"
Lindsay rolled her eyes, trying to play it cool despite her racing heart. "Just a little disagreement with the basketball team. No big deal."
Dominic raised an eyebrow. "A little disagreement? You call that a disagreement? You're a one-woman riot, Lindsay."
Lindsay smirked, feeling a spark of attraction at his teasing tone. "Hey, at least I'm interesting."
Dominic's gaze locked onto hers, his eyes burning with intensity. "Oh, you're definitely interesting. I'll give you that."
The air seemed to vibrate with tension as they stared at each other, the silence between them thick with unspoken words.
"Interesting" was an understatement, Dominic thought, his eyes still fixed on Lindsay's fiery gaze. She was a force to be reckoned with, a whirlwind of energy and defiance. He found himself drawn to her, despite his better judgment.
Just then, the sound of footsteps echoed outside the classroom, growing louder. Lindsay's eyes darted to the door, her expression tense. "They're coming," she whispered.
Dominic's instincts kicked in. He swiftly moved to the door, his broad shoulders blocking the entrance. "You're not going anywhere," he told the approaching group, his voice firm and authoritative.
The basketball players halted, their faces twisted in anger. "Mind your own business, Blackwood," their leader sneered.
Dominic smiled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Oh, I'm making it my business. Leave her alone."
The group snarled, but eventually backed down, disappearing into the hallway. Dominic turned to Lindsay, his expression softening. "You're a magnet for trouble, aren't you?"
Lindsay shrugged, a small smile playing on her lips. "Guess so."
Their eyes met, and for a moment, they just looked at each other, the tension between them palpable.
