Chapter 12
Lindsay stood there for a moment, trying to process what had just happened. Elijah's words lingered in her mind: "Ravenwood's not like any other school you've been to." What did he mean by that? She shrugged it off and continued walking, but her curiosity was piqued.
As she turned a corner, she heard laughter and followed the sound to a nearby bench. Elijah was sitting there, surrounded by a group of students, regaling them with a story. Lindsay watched from afar, mesmerized by his charisma.
When he noticed her, he grinned and beckoned her over. "Lindsay, come join us! We're swapping ghost stories."
Lindsay hesitated for a moment, but Elijah's infectious laughter drew her in. She sat down beside him, and he began to tell a tale of Ravenwood's haunted past. His words wove a spell around her, and she found herself giggling along with the others.
As the night wore on, Lindsay felt a connection with Elijah she couldn't explain. It was as if they shared a secret, one that only they understood.
Elijah's eyes sparkled with mischief as he leaned in close to Lindsay. "Want to explore the south woods with me?" he whispered, his voice barely audible over the laughter and chatter of the group.
Lindsay's heart skipped a beat. She had been drawn to the woods earlier, and now Elijah was inviting her to explore them with him. She felt a thrill of excitement mixed with a hint of trepidation.
"Okay," she agreed, trying to sound casual despite her racing heart.
