Chapter 8

Lindsay took a step back, her mind racing with questions. What secrets was Dominic hiding? Why was he so fast and strong?

Dominic's smile faded, and he looked away, his expression serious. "You should be careful, Lindsay. Those guys might come after you again."

Lindsay nodded, feeling a surge of gratitude towards Dominic. "Thanks for helping me out."

Dominic shrugged. "No problem. Just be more careful next time."

Lindsay nodded again, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She turned to leave, but then stopped and turned back to Dominic.

"Hey, Dominic?"

"Yeah?"

"Why did you help me? You don't even like me."

Dominic raised an eyebrow. "I never said I didn't like you. And besides, I don't like seeing people get bullied."

Lindsay smiled slightly. "Thanks, Dominic. I owe you one."

Dominic nodded, his expression softening. "Just be careful, okay?"

Lindsay nodded and left the classroom, feeling a sense of wonder at the mysterious Dominic Blackwood.

Lindsay walked down the hallway, lost in thought. She couldn't shake off the feeling that Dominic was hiding something. Suddenly, she heard footsteps behind her. She turned to see the basketball players, their eyes gleaming with malice.

"You think you're tough, don't you?" their leader sneered. "Well, let's see how you handle this."

They closed in on her, their fists raised. Lindsay stood her ground, ready to fight. But before they could attack, a figure burst into the hallway, sending the boys flying.

Dominic stood tall, his eyes blazing with fury. "Leave her alone," he growled.

The boys scrambled to their feet and ran, disappearing into the crowd. Dominic turned to Lindsay, his chest heaving with exertion.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice softening.

Lindsay nodded, feeling a rush of gratitude. "Thanks to you, again."

Dominic's eyes locked onto hers, his gaze burning with intensity. For a moment, they just stared at each other, the air thick with tension.

Then, without thinking, Dominic reached out and brushed a strand of hair behind Lindsay's ear. His fingers grazed her skin, sending shivers down her spine.

Lindsay's heart skipped a beat. She felt a spark of electricity between them, a connection she couldn't ignore.

Dominic's eyes seemed to bore into her soul, as if searching for something. Then, he turned and walked away, leaving Lindsay breathless and bewildered.
