Pratap gave him a sarcastic smile, bidded them both goodbye and entered the car with Aniket and Karan. Venkatesh stood beside them, waving merrily and smiling with his unusually white teeth.
"How are your teeth so white?" Ishar bursted out, unable to contain himself from asking the question any longer.
"Well-", Venkatesh replied, "-It's an ancient Ayurvedic technique, consisting of a paste made from many herbs and stuff. It's 5 times more efficient than normal toothpaste."
"Oh."
Was all Ishar could say. Of course it was an ancient Indian technique. He felt a pang of jealousy at the fact that Venkatesh had actually gotten a chance to live out the grandeur of the Vedic Indians.
"Well, you better call Anjani and Gargi. They must know what's going on here." Naren said.
"Yeah." Ishar replied, as he reached into his pocket for his mobile.
He dialed Gargi's number and waited for her to pick up. It rang for about five minutes, before ending. He tried Anjani's number. The call didn't reach her either. That's when Naren called Ishar from the main room.
"Ishar! Pratap just called me. He said that he had been observing Pralaya-1's position throughout the ride, and that it had reached closer into the Earth's orbit. Due to that, there are several disturbances in the satellite communications. I reckon they have some kind of signal jammer on them…".
"But then how could he have called us?" Ishar asked.
"Well, he used his brain for the first time in his life and used the military cell phone- you know, the one that doesn't require satellites to transmit radio signals."
Ishar agreed in understanding. So that's why his call couldn't reach the facility. It seemed that these aliens were hellbent on conquering India, or ultimately the planet. Well, now you knew the problem with communication disturbances,'
"So, we have to get within a five mile radius of their cellphones to actually contact them?"
Naren nodded.
"Well, being an Air Force Captain, I know a great deal about these signals, and if this continues, then we pilots won't be able to speak to each other even in the aircrafts. We'll be flying blind.
"So we have to use Morse Code then, maybe with flashlights. It's the only way, in case of a blackout. And now that the facility MIGHT be compromised- that's the last thing we need." Ishar said.
After thinking of what to do next for sometime, Naren spoke up. "You know, we should meet Tanik…see what he's found."
"Yeah, you are right." agreed Ishar, standing up.
He followed Naren outside the cottage and sat in a car they had borrowed from Venkatesh.
"Be sure to tell me what you find."
"Yeah of course! Speaking of which-" Ishar said, having completely forgotten to tell him about the Vedic Kingdoms in his haste, "-our Navy Captain, Tanik Sehwag, found the Vedic Kingdoms submerged in water. Don't worry, you'll be able to see them soon."
True to Aniket's words, the look on Venkatesh's face was worth seeing!
"You are telling me this now? Do you have ANY idea how important this is? This is great- its amazing- its absolutely wonderful! I swear, I'm going to tell every single person in the village. You just wait- I'll be studying those kingdoms soon!
.Venkatesh ran off towards the village, probably to tell Adinath about their ancient finds.
Naren chuckled. "Well then, let's go and see what's up in the Arabian Sea."
