The voice came again, sounding oddly familiar. Too familiar. That's when Ishar noticed that it was coming from the large, cage-like rooms. He peeked into the room from the top of the small, window slit. What he saw shocked him to the core.
He spoke surprised,
"General Aarush Verma?!"
All the chatter on the earpiece went silent. It seemed that everyone's attention was on the screen connected to Ishar's camera, waiting in anticipation.
The General smiled in relief. He looked pale and dull, with large bags under his eyes.
"I knew you would figure it out. I expect you know about Dr.Tanvir's betrayal? And the 7 hour, well now only about 2 hours, deadline?"
Ishar nodded, unable to speak. Then he forced his mouth to open, "But, you trapped me in the military facility, remember? How could you-?"
Aarush sighed sadly.
"Remember the night you called me, asking for Tanik's help in your mission? I was in my car? Well, shortly after you hung up, Dr. Tanvir tried to persuade me to follow his destructive plants. When I refused, he captured me, and now here we are. I suppose who you met was another alien."
Ishar nodded and looked at his watch once more. Time was running out.
"I am getting you out of here, sir." Ishar said, with determination in his face.
The General's face turned stern, and he strictly spoke, "No, Ishar. First, go and stop those aliens. Then, you can free me."
"But-"
"No buts. Consider this an order. Your priority is the country."
Ishar sighed. He looked at the General.
"Fine. But don't think for a moment that I won't free you."
Ishar gave the General one last, solemn look, and turned to the end of the corridor.
"Wait," Tanik said through his earpiece, "The control room is on the right. You first have to get the spaceship away from the land, in order to blow it up."
"I will first set a course for it to escape Earth's atmosphere. Then, when it starts to turn away, I will go to the power room and blow the spaceship up. By my calculations, it will take me five minutes to reach the crack in Pralaya-1, so Naren, be on standby when I say so."
Ishar took a right turn. He peeked inside the room, only to see-
"Stop, Ishar." Pratap's voice buzzed through, "There are about six aliens inside the control room. I think you will have to create a distraction first."
Ishar rolled his eyes.
"How do I create a distraction here?"
He looked around. There was a long corridor opposite to the control room.
"I have an idea," he whispered.
He silently tip-toed to the opposite corridor, and grabbed some of the thick wires hanging from the ceiling. Taking out a knife from his backpack, he raised his arm and slashed the wires hard, hoping that the alarm would go off. As predicted, the alarms went off, and the corridor turned red with buzzing sirens. However, it wasn't the normal alarms you hear. The noise was like a screeching sound, like a banshee trying to sing.
